(I)it bothers you that much? :grumpy:
Not just him.

From the AUP

No slang words that promote laziness, ie; “r”, “u”, “plz”, etc. will be tolerated. Decent grammar is expected, including proper usage of capital letters. Repeated violations will be grounds for suspension and/or permanent removal from the forums. All messages must be posted in English.
A typo is understood, but showing that you understand how it is supposed to be done and are blatantly just not doing it is a violation of the rules of the site.

It is something you may want to keep in mind if you find yourself dealing with a moderator.

I am not attempting to insult or threaten you. I just feel a friendly warning before you get in trouble might help you to find your stay at GTPlanet a pleasant one.

If capital letters are such a big deal then i dont mind using them at all. Its nice to know there are at least some friendly, helpful and intelligent people on this forum after all. 👍

You know, this month could already be shaping up to be the best month of my life to date already, I wonder if my run of luck will continue with an official announcement for release of GT5 some time this month.;) [Sarcasm] Yep, if my luck is currently good, and since the world revolves around me, we must be getting a release date soon.[/Sarcasm]

What game shows are on when this month?

I would fancy TGS end of september to be the most likely candidate for a release date drop.

This has probably been asked and sorry for not reading all 62 pages of this thread to find out but will the Prologue cars, credits, and license transfer to GT5?
I've had some inquiries on other forums about this and thought I'd ask.
Thanks.

For people thinking GT5 will be out with ps3 slim, a french site Play3-live insist on the fact that many retailers are planning Ps3 slim for September 1th :scared:

http://www.play3-live.com/news-ps3-de-plus-en-plus-proche-de-la-ps3-slim-16184.html

If it is real, it will be out without getting hype...and all will be revealed at gamescom................even GT5 for the launch???
Let's wait one more week :nervous:

Confirmed here http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/2009/00036273-les-precommandes-de-ps3-slim.htm sorry it's another french site !

It says, retailers can actualy buy PS3 slim from wholesaler to be able to sell it in the early september :dopey:
......with GT5???

No one knows yet.

On August 16th, Prologue online update. It will affect calendar, TV... and all the other features. Maybe related to GamesCom? News, surprises? I hope so! ^_^

It's nothing. We've had similar updates a few times in the past.

Date 16th August before gamescon
16th of August was also the date Elvis Presley died, perhaps he'll appear as a new feature of the game. ;) I'd like something to happen, but (and in addition to what I previously stated) PD did state not long ago that there would be no more updates for GT5: Prologue.

In terms of flight physics? Yes they are, that is kinda the whole point of the exercise. Thats why pilots do hundreds of hours in simulators before they ever leave the ground, and thats why they use them to keep their hand in during their career. It'd be pointless if it wasn't accurate.

In terms of driving physics, GT is NOT a simulator, not by some margin. Put it this way, if GT5p (or 4 for that matter) were accurate, then why have they still not figured out how to simulate the effect of an LSD properly?

The Definition of "Simulation"

"A simulation is the imitation of some real thing, state of affairs, or process. The act of simulating something, generally entails representing certain key characteristics or behaviors of a selected physical or abstract system."

That seems to indicate that the Gran Turismo series is in fact - a driving simulator! Imagine that! ;)

Just because it is marketed as a game, doesn't mean it's only a game. It has all the makings of a bona-fide simulator:

  • Realistic attention to detail
  • Handling of the vehicle is as close to real-life as possible
  • Photo-realistic or as close to that paradigm as possible to immerse the driver/pilot in the moment
  • Penalties for doing the things that in real-life would cause problems [i.e. over/understeer, braking to much or too early]
  • Mathematical algorithms set in place to govern the way the simulator handles the motion, actions and physics of the vehicle to make it as close to reality as possible
  • Learning from it can actually benefit the user in the real world using what they have learned to do in the simulator

If not for any other reason than my list above, the Gran Turismo series is deserving of the moniker "The Real Driving Simulator."

I have actually been in one of those pilot training simulators before. It was about 4 years ago at the NASA U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. It's meant to be as realistic as possible - but even with the best CPUs, even NASA gets a few physics errors. I remember trying to land my plane and just when the wheels touched down [it's nerve racking, because keep in mind there is a guy sitting right next to you telling you what buttons to push and when, what switches to flip and when, etc.], I pulled back really steep on the yoke and the plane turned sideways and clipped through the runway - sliding in this unrealistic fashion for a quarter of a mile. This is meant to be the height of simulation - both for training and safety purposes and all the instructor said to me was "Eh? Well, this happens sometimes. Just a little glitch."

Very reassuring. ;)

I don't think so....(but i probably miss something)

i have heard the game will feature the topgear test track. also it will have drag racing (not completely confirmed)

Top gear track has been confirmed officially for more than a year but drag racing has never been officially confirmed.

This is how I look at it. September is out. Its too soon, not yet in the shopping season, does not give Sony enough time to market and even if the PS3 slim came out it still would not make sense.

October is also very unlikely. What, release GT5 just to counter FM3, yeah right. Sony does not play that game. Also the marketing window would be very small for such a big release. Also the main buying season is not October. Uncharted 2 is also coming out in October.

November is possible but to be honest, also unlikely. If anything it would be late, which is one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. Also not to make COD MW2 the be all end but lets face it that game will be marketed to hell and a lot of people are going to spend there money on it. Releasing close to MW2 would only dilute the marketing message for GT5. Sure they would get "first blood" of more people's money by releasing soon but I honestly think there message would get jumbled in storm of other games (not saying GT5 is small potatoes but there are just a ton of games). Also Sony has MAG (maybe) to market. After however might work...

December, to me is the best window. MW2 and most of the other big titles have passed, their "push" time is over. Now GT5 message could be clear. Sure people will have spent some of their money but Sony would have much more space to market. Sony could market GT5 all fall and winter but I suspect mid November to a December release is when they will really push. A release around December would be far enough away from most of the competition but still in the buying season. This would maximize GT5 selling potential better than any other time this holiday season (IMO). Also by this time (pending a PS3 slim release) the populous would be educated/purchasing the PS3 slim, that a GT5 PS3 slim bundle would not only push sales further but be very successful due to the exposure of both GT5 and the PS3 slim, thus maximizing the sales of both. GT also has a history of releasing in December... to great success I might add.

So after December... well this gets tricky. While some people do a decent amount of shopping after the holiday season, its not as much during. Also many of Sony's highest profile 2010 releases are coming right after the holidays (GOW, Heavy Rain, and maybe MAG, etc). I do not think they would want GT5 taking away their spotlight.

So there you have it, my opinion.

^ That is pretty much how i have seen it since amar212's thread. Late Nov. to early Dec. for a release date! Hopefully we will find out in a week or so! (Fingers and toes crossed , can't hurt right.):sly:👍
