It's probably not true but according to Gamespot GT5 will be released in Europe on September 25th.

Linky

Hmmm that doesn't look true to me. Eventhough it certainly says it there, it seems to me that might have been there for a very very long time and nobody bothered to remove or change it?

What advertisment?
If they announce it at the GamesCom it would be enough.
Everyone knows about GT5 and the casual gamers only need a TV ad and these mostly air a week or so before the releasedate.

It wouldnt be before the TGS, but at the same time: http://tgs.cesa.or.jp/english/
Oh, I thought TGS was to be held in October!

Thats true. You just me got me excited, but I wont expect anything yet... ;)

My list of why I feel that GT5 will release this year:

  • The list of Holiday titles Sony has lined up is seriously underwhelming - Uncharted 2 and a new Ratchet & Clank game. Add Gran Turismo 5 to the list and Sony will own the holiday gaming market this year
  • Jordan of our very own GTPlanet has some insider news about GT5 coming to us this year, stating "We are going to like GT5's release date". He knows his stuff and I disagree that we are going to like the release date - we are going to LOVE it. ;)
  • Sony has moved all their other big releases to next year
  • Someone at 1up.com has inside knowledge about a huge Sony exclusive game that is releasing this year - contrary to what many didn't expect. The hints given imply a racing game - and Mod Nation Racers is the only other racing game exclusive to Sony - and that has been confirmed for next year
  • There are tons of gaming sites and insiders claiming that it will release this year and around Nov-Dec time frame
  • Sony has a 3-hour press conference tomorrow at the GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. 3-hours is way too long to only reveal/discuss the few games they have announced will be shown - there are bound to be surprises. ;)
  • Kazunori Yamauchi has stated several times that the game is ready to release at any time - but there are always tweaks and little adjustments that could be made to further perfect the game
  • The release window of this Holiday season is perfect - regardless of the PS3 Slim coming out or not. Sony gets it's biggest title out this year and in direct competition with Microsoft's racer, Forza 3
  • The Logitech G27 Racing Wheel is confirmed to hit stores in September - just 2 months prior to the suspected release of Gran Turismo 5. Isn't that what always happens? ;)

I hate it though, that they write "preview" and when you click on the link, you just get the E3 trailer.

Because you have already seen the trailer. I bet that if you hadn't, you would be happy about it, it would be news indeed. It's the price you pay for knowing GTPlanet, that's all.

Besides, preview is more or less like a trailer. Look it up in the dictionary. ;)

Hehe, those are good points! 👍 You got me excited!

I watched the Conference live, i didnt do it because of GTPlanet. ;)
But thats not the point, the (my) point is, that a trailer is not a "preview".
They also couldve wrote "Gran Turismo 5 Trailer".

we were just discussing that in the gamescom thread
looks like the conference is only 1 hour, maybe a lil more...3 hours including the time to prepare things, journalists to sit (yeah that sounds funny and incredibly stupid I know)

http://www.vg247.com/2009/08/12/sony-gamescom-conf-is-just-over-an-hour-long-new-timing-details/
SCEE’s just confirmed to VG247 that its GamesCom conference is to last around one hour, not the three hours previously reported.

A rep said on the phone that the presser will last “just over an hour” and the extra time around it is “for people to sit down… before we get started.”
we'll see tomorrow anyway
