I hope this is the correct forum to post this in. I was in my local GAME today and they had a rep from Sony there who was showing off Modnation Racers. I asked him about GT5 and he said he had played the 3D demo just last week and that it would be shown off at E3. He also told me that the release date was provisionally set for September 24th. He did however stress that it was a provisional datee and it might change very slightly but not by much. Make of that what you will everybody, just thought I should share this little nugget with the rest of you.
Provisional for them, not for us....

# The release date that comes from SCE or Polyphony Digital themselves is the actual, albeit projected, release date.
# A release date that comes from a shop, a shop's website, a shop employee or anything to do with a shop is not the release date unless there's a fluke coincidence

Le Mans and E3 is what I'm waiting for. :D Does anyone know where I can watch a live stream for the 24 Hour of Le man?

I believe Speedtv.com will have live streaming coverage online.

If what you and the person below said is true, there could be some merit to that date:

I know that nothing official has been announced regarding the release date, however i have just been into my local Gamestation who had a Sony rep in today and they have been informed that they are able to tell their customers that GT5 will be launched on 24th September.

Now i know that this is still hearsay but let's hope this is true, and will probably be officially announced in June at E3.

Sure, it's not fact until it comes direct from PD or SCE, but even then, it's not really fact until the game actually launches.

 Too stinkin true!

Yeah I would be careful with what those Sony Reps say. One who comes to my store says only 200 cars (or whatever number) are going to be on disc and the rest you have to pay for, but I told him that rumor was put to rest years ago and he didn't know what he was talking about.

Well he did say he was talking to a SONY rep that was at his local shop. ;) Not just one of the shop employees, but that doesn't make it any better I suppose.
Of course. A Sony representative was also at the 24h Nurburgring and he sounded like he didn't know anything new about GT5, he could't even confirm headtracking:indiff:.

To be fair, we've been expecting an August-November release since the March delay (In Japan - before anyone says "there was no delay"). So it's not really big news in my eyes.

I'll be damned, thats the first two claims of a reported release date that actually has me thinking we could actually be onto something. Sure its not necessarily indicative of anything just yet, but thats two times there was a Sony rep and they both gave the same date. Coincidence? Just can't be.

I ran into a Sony rep and he said it will be on Februmarcember the twentithirteeoneth.

It's not that difficult to say there was a Sony rep. They may be true, but they may not be. Until we hear it officially they still don't carry any more weight than anyone elses realse date comments.

A flatmate who works in game in the midlands met a sony rep a few months back who genuinely thought that GT5 had been out since sep 09.

tells you all you need to know.

Don't forget that most of these reps don't actually work for Sony. They work for a third-party company on behalf of Sony in their particular region. They handle business relations with local companies, distribute swag, etc, but they're not really "in the know".

Exactly, everyone here knows more about gt5 than most Sony reps and websites. And a couple here know quite a bit more than the rest I'm sure.

If they could give us a release date at TGS 2009, (when the game was only 65%), you'd have to expect an accurate and final release date to be revealed at E3 2010 (especially considering the game was about 90% months ago).

I saw a October 2010 release date posted earlier this week at some site. It wasn't a blog site. I just don't remember right now where. It will come to me later and I'll post the source.

Regarding the info different Sony reps may have on GT5 release date I just think it's unlikely that Sony would inform all their employees on all levels what they are planning for all games. I mean, some sort of information have probably gone out at some point, but wether that is the latest news or not... It's more likely that the actual planning of a game's release date is managed within a rather small group where only those who actually needs to know and those who have a saying in the matter are included. And those who get to know would not be so stupid to tell anyone about it, because it is probably subject to a non disclosure agreement which could give pretty nasty juridical consequences.
So when a Sony rep says "september 24th" it might be because he have read a PM somewhere about different timeframes for different games, and GT5 happened to be on the list. That list could be six months old though and the timeframe can just be a rough idea.
On the other hand he might actually know. But we'll never know until it gets official.

I wouldn't give too much credence to a 24th September release date. Of course, I was not there and do not know what the SONY representitive may or may not know for certain. But, the GAME group last year actually gave the same date for many, many titles. You may find that titles without confirmed dates elsewhere also are slated to be out on 24th September this year too.

I don't know why GAME does this, but thankfully they seem to be clamping down a bit on this random date selection. I work at Gamestation (owned by GAME), and last year we had a few disappointed faces in the shop on the 24th September when they were expecting several major titles (including GT5) to be released and out for sale! Oh dear...

September is late :S But what are 3 months after 6 years of waiting...

I hope it will not delayed again... So March 2011 can be the next :|

Only a few selected people have any idea about anything important reagarding GT5. Otherwise it would be impossible to keep it a secret. The more people who knows a secret, the bigger a chance it's a short-lived secret. No random SONY guy knows anything more about this than we do. And i would be surprised if any but the most senior knows much, unless its very close to release and E3 gives a date and its already going gold...

I think sumer release of game is better for Sony, no competition and ps3 momentum wth new 200g lighter ps3 will keep players occupien till christmass.

That's all fair enough, but this isnt GAME making the statement. It is (supposedly) two separate instances of a SONY rep making the same statement to different stores on different dates, so clearly there must be some merit to 24th September, even if it is old info. and ultimately incorrect.

I'll freely admit that it's no more official than anything else we've heard or read about, but as a piece of information it is what it is. Hopefully, at E3 we'll find out the release date for Europe (amongst the other regions), and it will either be sooner than that, exactly that date, or later than that. Either way, those who feel negatively about 24th September now will soon change their tune once they know the real date.

Yesterday I tested one of this new 3D TV´s. It was from Samsung and was not as good as avatar 3D. But there was no 3D TV from Sony. When will they be released? I think GT5 will be an launch title with those 3D TV´s

Damn,Do you notice that many video games sites didn't mention gt5 in the E3 2010 previews!!all of them refer to games like Gears3, Killzone3,ps-move......this concern me not little:nervous:
