Oh dear, yesterday I assumed ( wrongly as it now turns out ) all cars would have interior view, but it appears 800 cars will now be more or less graphically upscaled GT4 models?
Don't get me wrong, I loved GT4 without interiors and played it for years on a PS2..................

Now with Yamauchi claiming those Premium models were in hindsight better suited for the PS4 we are left apparantly with 2 car model types.
One from a previous gen upscaled for current gen and one next gen pushing the limits of current gen.
And all this on the first full GT title for the PS3, what happened to simply having PS3 models in a PS3 game?

I would like GT5 to have at least the car count of GT4 but if the numbers would be closer to, say, 500 with all interiors modelled as Prologue promised I think I would prefer that over what appears to be the current situation.
It also looks those Standard cars in those new pictures have blacked out windows which wasn't even the case in GT4.........

So either this is all a monumental misunderstanding ( which I hope, but probably should know better by now ) or in my opinion a monumental cock-up on the part of PD.
I can't comprehend this is a situation planned form the start, even GT3 ( the first GT on a new console ) lost some cars from GT2 to still offer a great new game only for GT4 to catch up the car count from GT2 again.
It appears they were overambitious and wanted to have all cars Premium from the start but were forced halfway in this process due to time/resource/financial reasons to create this compromise.

No matter how many new features are added and no matter how excited I was with the new E3 info and gorgeous trailer this feels to me like dropping a bombshell on a great party so far.
And no I'm not some spoiled little kid wishing for something impossible, I've played all GT games without interior, I've played late eighties and early nineties PC driving games with appalling graphics and am still amazed what is achieved today.
But I didn't expect to be playing a serious current gen driving game without interior view on all cars since Prologue.

Going to quote myself..

To EVERYONE, think of it like this, for GT5 PD were able to model 200+ cars absolutely BRILLIANTLY! But because they couldn't model all 1000+ that they wanted, they polished the models from GT4/GTPSP so that we could still use them, and feel them better then before thanks to the new physics.

So basically my point is, GT5 is ALL the cars (or close to) from previous GT games brought together in one immense game filled with (the 200+ new car models) new features, new physics and everthing yet to be seen.

Which to me, sounds TRUELY EPIC.

More than 40 tracks with over 100 layouts (including all versions of Nurburgring – which nobody’s ever done before). That enough for you? :)

That's great however, KY & Co hopefully could make half a dozen more after release pleeeease :)👍.

A special thanks from me, on behalf of all of GTPlanet.Thank you to Kazunori Yamauchi & all his team of GT gaming petrolheads 👍👍👍.Much loves ha ha.

everyone you are a bunch of whiners, seriously when GT came out it didn't have damage or body upgrades, and still it was way more realistic, way more fun and way more exiting,it has a set of really really good cars and tracks, I mean now when the GT5 come up everyone is jut complaining about the lack of interiors on it, don't you see the day night change, the rally, the nascar(i hate that but anyway),F1(un officially but the F1 2007 is confirmed)as long as the keep the formula of the Gran Turismo career mode and improve it,trust me it will be the best game that will be released in history, until GT6 come up to PS4 in maybe 6 or 7 years.

Aaaahhh... I see... So in the beginning of the XXth Century, we had radio. What a leap in communications... spreading news, hearing what people were saying miles, and miles away... then, mid-century, we added images to the sound and, voilá!, we got TV! Then they, imagine that!, added coloured images on the TV! Even more recently we got HD at 1080p!!! What a blast. But these guys are really pushing the limits here. Now they want to implement 3D in TV's?! What?! Isn't coloured motion images in full HD enough?! What?! And people are still saying "yeah 3D is fine but the fact you have to wear glasses is a pain... and so... and so..." Those ungrateful B*****!

^This is, more or less, your logic isn't it?

We are not denying that all cars Premium or Standard look good, but both sets seem disproportionate to each other when seen together on the same track.

I mean the Audi R8 in the STANDARD CARS TRAILER was incredible but it wasn't, er dare I say it>? Gt5 material.

no what I am saying is that is better to have real advantages like day night cycles, changes in he environmental condition than reinvent the wheel and have 1000 cars with interiors and races in the same ways as always, that is a breakthrough, not using and improve somebody else formula is a real advance, and don't tell about the 3d because the 3d was an invention of really years ago, they just find a way to make it accessible to everyone.

Everybody seems to be talking about it - but just for clarification, where exactly has it been stated that standard cars do not include cockpit view. And I really mean cockpit view, not "interior"...

The windows are tinted black like in GT4 so you can asume that there is no cockpit.

Anyone noticed that both rollovers shown in the video take place on the same track? (Madrid, I believe) Makes one thing that track is going to see a lot of crashes.

Well they could have a "generic" cockpit or only the cockpit modeled, and nothing else so instead of showing the lack of modeled seats/etc, you go into cockpit view and you see it there. Though if you look left/right/back you dont see the rest of the car modeled.

I'm just posting what I think the other guy meant. They probably don't have cockpits...

To be honest, that's not what bothers me anymore, I want low AND high beams on all cars.

-> ...
i don't care if those 800 cars would look like bricks just give me my cockpit view...

They could better scrap those 800 and make 100 more premium cars...
^ I'll repeat what you said:

I don't care if those 200 cars would make me look like a slobbering Pitbull just give me more cars...

You (and other people who whines about cockpit views) can keep those Premium cars and make me 1000 more cars...
:grumpy:👎

-> Enough of this whining about no cockpit view BS, go to the Emo thread and whine there! I'm just happy we'll get GT5 in Nov. :indiff:

How many maps will there actually be? I mean if they have spent all their time on 1000 cars, it doesn’t’ amount to anything if you only have a handful of tracks to use them on…

That red supposedly indicates he's a PS blog administrator?

I'd take that with a grain of salt, doesn't seem likely they'd have just posted 20+ officially if it's actually already known to be 40+. Seems like fodder for another freakout brewing if this starts spreading and then it turns out to be 20-something.

Jeff Rubenstein is the community mananger of Sony, he handles the Playstation Blog. Only KY could say something more official, so it´s good news for us.

-> More tracks!? Oh goody! :)

~> The return of all past tracks? Oh joy! :dopey:

EDIT: I'll stop now and ignore all these issues about the cockpit view drama. :indiff:

Also remember what Kaz said yesterday in his twitter interview with Honda: "The final number of tracks hasn't been fixed yet". That statement is not open to mis-interpretation. It is good news, because it means that whilst 20+ is the official figure, it could well be more than that. 40/100 actually sounds a lot more realistic than 20/70. It's harder to get 70 variations out of just 20 tracks, and 40 is more on par with GT4 and GTPSP.

Its like playing a final fantasy game, a new one (XIII is it?), and then having random characters look like they were ported from FFVII.

Weirdly that is the case, kind of. The few main characters are much more detailed than other less important ones around you. You still see all the npcs yet they dont have the same level of detail. Ofc they dont look like from FFVII (PS1) but they are about the quality of main characters in FFX (PS2)

But people are used to that so they dont really care.. in racing there isnt really a "less important" car on the track so it looks more weird there yeah.

Found this on amazon, code for it included when you buy gt5 from them:
