Well, by that Picture you can clearly see that the car models havent been Upgraded, not even the Textures...

Umm, unless you are completely blind, I see a huge difference in the textures. I think all of us are just used to seeing the cars in prologue, etc and a slight step backwards is a shocker for most.

I don't know what pictures you were looking at, but I can tell the difference between the two cars graphically. the GT5 car CLEARLY has better textures and a smoother finish. Look at the wheel blur. the GT5 car you can't tell much from the rotation of the wheel, but you can see the individual spokes in the GT4 car. Maybe you need some glasses, dude.

The wheel blur is made from the game engine, the textures were downsized in GT4 because of the PS2 RAM limitations, that's why they are a bit cleaner in GT5, the 3D model is a direct port though.

Exactly. And I know someone is going to bring up the point that they are still the same GT4 models, even if they look better, but WHO CARES? If they look better, then they look better, and it doesn't really matter why. I think the GT5 one looks good enough, and it looks near premium quality in the video.

Whatever. To me, the GT5 version looks 100 times better than the GT4 version, but, that, apparently, is just me. You know, if it was my game, I'd be tempted to release a demo of GT5 with GT1 textures and graphics. That way, the skeptics would whine and cry and not buy the game and everyone else would just laugh.

Tons of people as you can see here in this very forum.

No doubt GT4 on my PS2 playing on my 52 Samsung look nowhere like that trailer i saw with the standard cars.

Yes, exactly like in GT3 and 4.

In 3 & 4? All I saw were stationary blacked out silouettes, not complete helmets of moving drivers like I saw in the standard cars trailer. There wasn't very visable insides of the cockpits either last I checked.

And people fail to realize that a lot of us played GT4 on SD with no HDMI or any other sort of HD technology.

The standard cars will look much cleaner when viewed in HD.

Do you need more?

Photomode and gameplay footage are two different things. I'm not even sure why this has brought up, I just pointed out things I notice and somehow I'm now in an argument?

My Goodness, will this standard cars story prolong until Gamescom,TGS:scared:??it really begins annoying me..please stop it right now!!

You just didn't point out anything special, the cars remain direct ports from GT4.

They look a little cleaner, but the GT5 cars still look better. And, again, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Just stop whining.

Did I say that anywhere? Its not as if I was implying they weren't. I just noticed major graphical details I didn't see before and thats all, I wasn't trying to prove anything so I still don't know why that was brought up.

I just want to play this game. I don't care if it has damage or track editor or weather or headlights. All I know is that those are fine "features", but I just want to play the game. Save the massive technological advancements in Downloadable Content or Gran Turismo 6 (which will appear in 2017, if my calculations are correct). Most Gran Turismo fans don't care for PS Move or super HD/3D stuff. Most play on a 25 inch Samsung SD TV with no HDMi or anything else except for the analog setup. (mine is 30in., I was just being typical). This is a great advancement of the game already and if they started shipping tomorrow, I would buy it even if it sold for $100.00. I wouldn't care if the track editor was glitchy and the day/night dynamic went at supersonic speed. It would give more things for us to talk about in the forums.

I hate to say it, but i would prefer 1000 premium cars than a lot of the other stuff they are putting in the game. However, PD are great developers and i have faith that the decision they made will over all benefit GT just as much....

I second that. The game is about the cars, mostly. Even if most of us are Impreza fanboys (just a guess, I'm not), we're still going to look at the Evo across the map. It's about the cars. The technology is just fun stuff to spend 20min. trying out.

I don't think it was a choice between the two. Probably say 600 premium cars. Or day/night, weather, damage, track editor, karting. All together.

Couldn't find a post with the answer so I'm posting here, only a quick question :P has it been confirmed that the HUD can be disabled when using the in-car view. Because that would add a sense of realism to it.

how would that add a sense of realism to it? Are you talking about the track map and stuff? You could turn those off in GT4, so it would make sense to turn them off in GT5. But if you mean the instrument panels and gauges, usually if those turn off while you're racing, you need a new engine.

Have just noticed on previous page !!! It has been said that the 3rd vid on Top Gear Track has no HUD (cannot believe I missed that really) but looking good though .

I mean the area around the screen that has the speed, track map, g-sensor and things. the in-car dials and stuff can stay where it is ! :P

If your good, than you can listen to the engine revs to know when to shift, otherwise yeah you will destroy your engine

I don't agree. I am hopeful the game will be everything we expect it to be. However, many, if not all of us here, have been waiting for years for GT5, we have a right to expect nothing but the best, and yes, complain if we don't like what we see.

It is not replay mode from what i can see. There is no speed being displayed in the HUD but the map and times are, which looks like you can specify what is displayed and what isn't because I'm sure previously speed was always visible and couldn't be removed. I personally would remove everything and only have split-times appear whenever I passed a checkpoint.
