What do you think about this:
lead1sr71mustang.jpg

Looking at this, i am very impressed at the quality and detail, it's just shy of how much Kaz/PD does their "premium" cars...

but all this points to the fact that, car design, outside of the car manufacturer's own offices, have gotten excellent...

This is now the standard in car representation without relying on an actual (physical) model... we can just play with the computer and show how the car would look like in real life.

Turn10 is getting as close as PD. Kaz is losing ground very fast...

What do you guys think??

and Ultimately, it is us, as consumers and players, and car enthusiasts who benefits from this progress... i cant wait for GT5 and hopefully the next FOrza or ProjectGotham will give Kaz their run for the money...

True that.... i should... as soon as i resize it down.

Looking more carefully at the photos... the work is really on par with PD!... it's beautiful... makes me more eager for GT5 ... i cant wait for November!

Yep, and in bold, the main point. The Veyron is a luxury cruiser and a top speed record seeker, so adding a immense amount of power, ride comfort, VAG reliability and all luxury stuff you would expect from a car on that price league, you have a heavy mid-engined monster, focused on getting from one place to another in astonishing speeds. It was never meant to corner. ;)

However, the handling shouldn't be so bad, it will never corner like a GT-R but will still be fast enough on the turns and marvelous at the straights, hello Mulsanne straight, my name is Veyron, nice to meet you. :mischievous:

Actually on the TG test track it's faster than the GTR, the Maserati MC12 and the Enzo: http://www.fastestlaps.com/track1.html

Although it's not a supremely technical track, it does tend to favour cars with good handling and good power to weight ratio. It's the reason why Caterham does better than a Porsche 911 GT2 and the Nissan GTR so it's a quite remarkable that the Bugatti at almost 4 times the weight of the R500 (and 4 times the power) is only less than half a second back.

I don't like how he did the roof. ;) But that's a small complaint for such an awesome looking concept.

Honestly, I'd like to see Turn 10 get about as close as Polyphony, but they have a ways to go yet. Forza quality is kind of all over the place, with models imported from Forza 2 which are likewise imported from Forza 1, complete with the flaws, and they seem to break something in every game. And yet, they're a serious contender to Polyphony because the things they do well, they do very well.

Since he became notorious, Kas has spoken about so many aspects of motorsports he wants to include in every game, such as body modification and livery painting. He's made baby steps in that direction, with the Race Mod system in GT2 and the tailwings - and invisible splitters - offered in GT4. I want to see him blow this wide open in GT5 and offer us a very deep customization, tuner and race mod system with a comprehensive livery editor.

Will we get it? I don't know. Other than new licensed racing leagues. solid online system and a deep, involving career mode, he doesn't have much else new to bring to the table. I'm hoping that Forza's amazing car customization system has made him think about this aspect of motorsports that has been lacking in Gran Turismo, and pushes him to offer us something similar or better. He has about everything else wrapped up, even to having physics comparable to a PC racing sim.

I've been racing and snapping pics for months in GT4, and like you guys, I'm starved to get my hands on the Sensei's masterpiece. November can't come soon enough.

The only reason that magazine cover interests me is the mention of Bathurst... hint, maybe?

Don't forget that your picture is pre rendered. It's much harder to do a model that looks great and runs real time (like PD did), because you have limitations.

Of Course it mentions bathurst, look at where that particular issue of PSN magazine is distributed.

You disappoint me a bit Tenacious D in saying he doesn't have much else new to bring to the table as I had you down as a bit of a creative type and being a creative soul ( which I think Kaz is also ) you should know they generally can think outside the box and come up with things a sane person wouldn't concieve of.;)

That being said a certain "game that dareth not speak its name" did basically took the concept of GT ( which was extremely original as a concept ) and raised the stakes by adding their own original elements which does require to be answered perhaps.
I think it's only healthy to be challenged ( even for those like me who've only played GT ) and I think he's cooking something up which will hopefully surprise us as being more than simply catching up.......but then again simply catching up may suffice for now.:)

Good points...however, despite PD "catching up" with features such as damage and possible livery editors, etc...PD has given us day/night transitions which to my knowledge, no one has done this generation...(I remember someone saying there was a Le Mans game on an older system that did it though), but what I mean is that no one is doing it now to the quality PD will do it. And if we get weather on top of, that's 2 things Forza doesn't have alone...

...but I do agree they've had to catch up on certain things like damage, online connectivity, etc. But online is shaping up to be one hell of a feature alone, let alone everything else we've had in the past like the massive career mode, photo mode, tuning features, etc.

But, yes, competition is good for PD. I'm just glad they've found a way to outdo it again IMO.

Oh, I recognize that, but it's an incredible track and I don't think it's a huge assumption that Kaz would want to include it. Whether it has been or not, we don't know. It's an interesting blurb regardless.

Every GT fan, whether or not they hate blindly on other racing games or not, should be thankful, as a few have mentioned, that competition breeds excellence. Other games showcase areas of GT that can be improved upon, so if they mean better games down the road from PD, I know I can't complain. A more robust online and modification feature set are the two most obvious I can think of, and signs so far have been good for both of those.

You are correct. The veyron is a heavy luxury car not a sports car. If any of you watch top gear you would know that it has gone around the test track and it is not at the top like many people would have expected it to be

Well it may not be the absolute fastest, it's in the top 1% of all performance road cars ever built, which in light of its weight, is astonishing. There are only a handful of cars that are faster around a track.

And, if you drive it properly, it puts down crazy lap times in GTPSP as well. It's just a whole different animal, and needs to be driven as such.

...is an Arcade game and shouldn't even be considered in the same league as GT or FM.

Couldn't agree more! 👍 Instead of bashing every other racing game developer, the fanboys should be thanking them!

FM is an arcade racer, as well. It has a permanent driving ad, which makes it NOT a simulation. Forza 2, at least, was also VERY easy to drift in, which isn't realistic and is probably due to the permanent driving ad. And, I know from my experience, I never played Forza as a serious racing sim, but as an arcarde, casual racer.

New madrid video:

Can some one explain to me why the driver animation keeps one hand on the paddle shifter while the other steers? I thought paddle shifters were dedicated to the steering wheel so you didn't have to take your hand off of the wheel? Thats how all wheels I've seen are.

And this anticipation of shifting is driving (no pun intended) nuts!!

Right before going into a corner if the hands are always waiting to shift it will begin to make you take your eyes off of the road. Why can't they just make the fingers shift the gear instead of the whole damn hand?

Yes the hand animations are not great. :( except the Merc SLS AMG. I hope they fix it

Some wheels has detached paddles, and others have them attached to the wheel itself.

You know Grid has day/night right?

Ignore the terrible driving and physics, that's day/night and done quite a while ago now. People need to stop acting like day/night is some new and revolutionary thing that PD is doing.

Ahhh, the driving... it's so painful.

My original impulse was to point out that while other games have done the day/night transition, they haven't done it to GT's apparent quality. However, that really was rather impressive. I see your point.

I think the last truly new thing PD has brought to the table of console sims has been... Photomode. Maybe B-Spec?
