What are you guys hoping for from the pitstops in the game?

I'm hoping for me actually b eing able to drive the car to the pit stall. We would have to maintain proper speed, or face having to do a drive through penalty. There could be license tests that teach you how to properly brake to enter the pits and stop on the line in your stall.

I'm definitely not a fan of pressing buttons to make your pit crew work faster. I want to race not play button puzzles.

Also, I hope they fix the penalty system. In a real race, cars don't have a 5 second period where they can't drive past first gear while other cars on the track smash in the back of you at 100mph. Many times, when I lose control, and go off track, I loose many positions, and still have a "short cut" penalty enforced. If during the race, you race aggressively, and run other cars off the track, then you should have to do a dirve through penalty through pit lane, like in real races.

I'm watching the Rolex Sportscars race from New Jersey on Speed right now, and that is exactly what happened. An RX 8 rammed a Camaro in the back sending him off the track and giving the RX 8 the lead and he had to do a drive through penalty.

Covering the orb is a very basic design flaw and will severely reduce if not completely remove the accuracy/capability of the tracking sensor.

Buy this piece of plastic to make your gaming experience worse.
Number one flaw in most Wii peripherals. They put a hole on the end with the sensor but it is often too small or obstructed by some design flourish. My friend got the Wii Sports peripherals as a gift and they all reduce the sensitivity of the controller, some to the point that it can't read it at all.

It is real enough to be up for pre-order on Amazon.

The Move controller does have motion sensing built in, but without the camera seeing the orb its accuracy is not much better than the Wii without Motion Plus. The camera/orb combined with built-in motion sensors gives the full effect. At least that is how I understand it.

As a third-party peripheral though I am curious just how much official support it has for GT5. The main problem with that layout that I see is that none of the buttons appear to be conveniently placed.

$19.99? Man that thing is cheap must be a piece! And no pedals how the hell you to go and stop?

Most games consist of presing buttons in the right sequence at the right time to achieve a desirable outcome. I suppose you hate all of those too, including GT games? :roll eyes:

Now Sony reveals to us the utility of the ps-move in gt5!!

lol....:(

Get a real wheel or don't even bother....the DFP is what, $50 now and the DFGT goes on sale for $99 every once in a while?

Not everyone wants a QTE mini game thrown into the middle of their racing game. Some people feel that QTEs should be kept to God of War, where they belong (sort of).

EDIT: And having played Indianapolis 500 Legends on the Wii, which did have a pit stop mini game, I can say that they feel extremely out of place.

Exactly what i was thinking the other day ... :dunce:

GT5 is nothing more than a "Steering Hero" game... :dopey:

I thought the "Orb" was only for tracking the controller location in 3D space, so with it being blocked it can still sense movement, so in theory it would still work. I'm sure there is a video of it working with camera covered up. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I really don't understand all this criticism for this psmove-wheel!!it's obvious that it was created for a occasional gamers!PD and Sony know that fans like me you,all gt-planet members and hardcore gamers will get G25,DFP........But what about the arcade gamers??this device(gadget) could be perfect for those kind of players!!

The buttons are near the middle of the wheel. How long are your thumbs?

And the way that is designed will force all controls to be done via the left hand, which is not a natural translation from a normal controller. Unless there is something used for gas and brake that I am unaware of this wheel is not exactly ideal.

All I do now (GT4) is aim for the pit entrance, full speed if possible, which needs no talent.
I would like to find my pit stall (GT5) from the flag hanging on the pole after slowing down to make pit road as efficiently as possible.
That does take talent.
An updated GT4 interface is good for me, no pushing a button multiple times for speed though.

Well it would be best if we had actual stewards as they do in real races, but we don't.
There will always be a problem for the people who race clean when the occasional bump happens and a penalty is applied.
I love it when I get booted and also get the penalty, yeah, love it.
At least we will get to set those penalties in GT5 for our own races.
I love it when I get rammed and get the ramming penalty, yeah, love it.

At least the GTPlanet Registry does have online stewards. 👍

This was not the case in every instance.

I blasted into the pits on several occasions and the car did not pit, but did a pass through and came back out.

You could not come in but so hard on some tracks or the car was not going to pit.

I'm hoping for me actually being able to drive the car to the pit stall.

The only way I see this happening is if they give us an option to remove the pit crew (so no crashing over them).

Would love that 👍 And a button for the speed limiter 👍

I honestly have a doubt about those "Orb", they are there, but propably are not functional... just to bring out the "Harry-Potter" in all of us...

I think they just made up that "orb" to have a little extra (visually) over the Wii controller... If the general public found out that Sony is really copying Nintendo, they would loose all ideas that Sony is an Avant-Garde technology company... :scared: God forbid that...

I think Sony just made it up and make it a requirement for us to spend extra on the PS-Eye toy too... but that's how they milk us ;)

the PS Move is really the technology copy of a Wii controller... nothing new.

With PS-Eye, look at the camera,
:yuck: Frown if you want to speed, and
do the surprised face :scared: if you want to brake...

no? :dunce:

Are you serious? Of course they need the orb-camera combo, how else will the controller know where it is relative to your screen?

BT does that, but the type of precision that they get from the Move is way higher than anything BT can achieve on it's own.

Are you serious? If I wanna paly a RACING game, then why would I want to press buttons in a sequence of patterns? When was the last time you saw (insert favorite driver here) pressing a pattern of buttons while racing his car?
And the game we are talking about is GT5. Why would you ask me about other games?

What my post implied was that I want to be in control of everything regarding the car entering and exiting the pits (like a racecar driver does in real life) and did not want my race to be determined on whether or not I can remember a sequence of buttons.

Maybe I'm the wierd one...:dunce:

Exactly!
Remember That if this were for GT, then that would mean it would also be able to be played GT without the wheel, and just with the move controllers. Kaz would certainly not approve of this, because it would ruin the 'sim' part of the game, and more importantly because they already have agreements with Logitech with their wheels, which is also owned by sony if Im not mistaken.

Nobody here has to worry...

Well The orb has been placed cause the 3D sensing component inside probably doesn't look as delightful to look at. The orb represents the complete 3D sensing that is available- almost like a ball, with almost all of the face visible. So, your right, sony did want to seperate themselves from nintendo.. Or they can make themselves a better quality product that is actually not a technology copy, and seperate themselves at the same time (But then again, they wouldn't need to).

PSeye also tracks where the orb is in 3D space, so without it, how could it sense it? That's not milking, thats just a vital part of the product.

Last, Your using your words wrong... The PS move is a 'Concept' copied by the Wii. The technology is very different. The Wii motion sensing tracked where your controller was facing, in 2 dimensions, meaning you could move it up and down, and right and left. The thing that saved it was a motion sensor inside the controller itself. The PS move does it in 3. The PSeye can sense a variety of things by itself too.
To keep things short..

^Watch all of it, The Wii could never do that.

If playing GT5-P (or other car racing games) with a pad, you ARE pressing buttons in a sequential pattern (just as you would play Band or Guitar Hero or Super Mario)...

Based on what you see on the screen, you accordingly press a button on the pad to make your avatar on TV move.

Monkey See Monkey Doo :P

Yes, You are weird for living in the Nile ;)...

Once again, this is GT5, not any other game.

If you read my original post, you would've got the point about what I want to happen regarding the pitting.

I meant that I did not want my pit times to be affected on whether or not i can play some type of puzzle or button memorization.

Hope that helps you understand. Oh and I don't play with pads.

That's from a magazine article, not PD. They might not know a whole lot more than we do at this point.

They got to experience it first hand. As well as getting direct information from PD (whether or not translation errors happened they still got a direct source).

Covering the orb is a very basic design flaw and will severely reduce if not completely remove the accuracy/capability of the tracking sensor.

Buy this piece of plastic to make your gaming experience worse. Better off using the sixaxis sensor on the standard pad to be honest.

Actually covering the orb will do nothing to the accuracy. The accuracy of the device is dependent on the tilt of the move controller. The sensors for tilt is located within the controller itself. The orb is only used to measure translation of the controller. The position of the orb on the ccd will give the vertical and lateral coordinates and the size of the orb on the ccd will give the depth coordinates. The orb is a sphere so the ccd cannot detect the orientation of the controller.
