In my opinion sence of speed problem is connected with area of view when you drivinig IRL and aov in games..

irl aov it's like 160 when game is onlylike 90.. so we feel slower because we can't see fast moving object on our left and right.

We can't feel fast if we can't see fast moving objects...
This is also very true. This may be part of the reason I enjoy roof view so much in Gran Turismo. Mostly though, it's because I can see to the sides of the car much like normal peripheral vision allows us in real life. Unfortunately, we need wrap around monitors and a system which will display 180 degrees of view to make this possible in other non-chase views, and for most normal people, we don't have either the money or room for such a setup.

I still find the view provided by my HDTV to be very satisfactory with Prologue. I'm looking forward to the demo and what it offers of a glimpse of the GT5 to come this spring.

How can you possibly tell that from a standard quality internet video?

Man, people always looking for something to complain about...

Yes, even from crappy video I can see that. You can too, if your eyes aren't blind from the GT fanboyism :sly:

It's pretty disappointing video for me and is really showing that only cars in the GT are really nextgen, no other aspect of the game.

But the Nordschleife seems to be still very simplified version, without real grass which other tracks have, without many sections of the country already visible in other games including FM3 and practically without any changes from GT4.

You can't conclude that for sure from that video, between the resolution, the camera and compression, it would be very hard to make out details that small from that video whether they are there or not. You can't even make out the number on the speedometer which is in the forground and not flying past the car at 100kph....

You second comment, that is only the first 3rd of the Nurburgring? What other parts of the country can you see? Most of that is covered by dense forest and hills. You can just make out the Nurburgring GP Track (well, one of the grandstands at least) at the start of the lap but the camera is still adjusting itself to the lighting conditions so its almost 'bloomed out' Its very hard to make any solid conclusions about the graphics of the game from that video.

See any real Nordschleife video or any video from FM3 or Shift and you'll see for yourself what's missing there. The GT's Nur has only track, trees, grass texture and side barriers. Almost nothing else.

even gt 4 had far look of nring with castle etc... so you fail in your point.

Unfortunately, that's all FM3 has going for it. The course itself is still very poor & the decision of having it within overcast skies gives it a nasty appearance, imo.
As for Shift, I think it goes a tad too far with its scenery, with all the decorations & what not that are spread out.

To be perfectly honest, if GT4's version is what we get (just prettied up), I'm fine with that. Its scenery isn't amazing, but the track is perfect & that's what matters for me.

Shift as a whole is exaggerated in many many aspects, like physics, blur ans scenery.

The Ring in Shift seems to represent the Ring, when there are 24h Reces going on, with a lot additional stuff, wich is fine with me, but doesnt make Shifts version of the track the better one.

Forza 3 features the Ring, as they think it should be for a game, they widened the Road a bit and ironed some bumps, to make it more beginner-friendly and easier to race online. Other than that they i guess its just a prettied up version of the track from F2. The markings on the track are wrong aswell.

I want PD to make the Nordschleife look like it looks, when there are no races at all. I just want to get the feeling to be the only one out there driving arround the track, when Iam doing some timetrails.
The sky should be grey in the morning, with some fog on the track and slightly wet tarmac. It should almost look depressing.

Other than that the track is pretty cool in GT4, you can see the Nuerburg, the GP track (especially the Ring hotel and the Mercedes Benz terraces.

All the spectators and tents you see in Shift and FM3 are only there in bigger races from the VLN series etc.

I'm new in GT5P world but my first impression was wow ... the menu, graphic, phisics engine 10/10 BUT the sounds of the cars uhhhhh ... 4/10 ... I didn't believe that such an artificial *>;<} sounds how its possible ???
The problem is in the new video also has very bad sound of car ...
Please prepare MUCH BETTER SOUNDS for GT5 !!!👍

I didn't mean Blur effect like NFS "****", I often use the left and rear view on prologue and even with the side views the sense of speed isn't that realistic. When I'm driving my dad's car at 120kph and I'm looking straight forward ( paying attention to the track..of course ), the track comes very fast and you must be aware of any road imperfection, etc. I only get this sensation when I'm about to reach 200kph in prologue. And I'm sure that the sense of speed is really bigger in the KY video.

Oh, I'm going to take my Blue IS-F to a London time trial in Prologue, I complain every day because I only have 6 tracks to run, but I can't stop playing GT5P...:)

I went to Top Gear Live (Brilliant Show!) in Dublin today and at show room was a Playstation section since Playstation was one of the big sponsors for Top Gear Live, it included 3 PSP Go's playing Motorstorm, LBP & GT. And there were a good amount of PS3s setup to play games and Vidzone, but then there was 3 racing pod things with the TGS build of GT5 installed in them, 2 of the pods were practise ones (The one on the left was the SLS AMG ( I tried it but it handles mad.) and the right was the 458 Italia (Didn't try it.), but the middle pod was the main one, you put your name, address, DOB & phone number down and you wait your turn for a go, but the challenge was to post the fastest lap, you get to pick one of the 8 cars (Impreza WRC, Focus, ACR Viper, HPA TT, High End G37, SLS, 458 & FT-86), obviously on the Tokyo R246, if you got the fastest lap out of the whole weekend, you win a PS3 & a Sony Bravia, so I went to have a go, I picked the HPA TT, it handled great and it was fast :), 1st lap spun out at the fast bit & on the 2nd lap, things began to improve, I caught up with the AI, but they kept on blocking me which was annoying but I ended up becoming 2nd on the Fast Lap Leaderboard (1:44:958), 1st was 1:44:101, I was happy to get a good lap time and the game so far is brilliant.

You lucky person!!! all i could find at the Earls Court TG live was a prolouge Citroen GT one around London on the Citroen stand!

Well, i drove on the ring in GT4, Shift and a little bit on F3. The GT4 version looks the most realistic on to me, even if it's the older one.
I don't know why, but playing on the Ring in others games doesn't look the as real as in GT4 the bumps, the side stripes, everything is more vividly and i don't know why. And after all, looking some videos on the in-board camera with real cars, the GT4 version looks very, very real, more real than the one in Shift, i can't say much about the F3 version because i played it a just a little bit.

You are right that Ring's surface modelling and accuracy of track itself was ultimative even in GT4. No other game has this level of accuracy. But there is time for new views such as helicopter camera over carussell and whole mountains and the graphical engine doesn't seem to be ready for that, it's very GT4ish.

The colors in GT4 were perfect, the trees had the perfect green color to them, just like you see them in the Eifel. My grandparents live close to the Ring and I have been there several times now and the GT4 track really captures the soul of the Ring, at least better than other games on the market.

Though the trees in GT4 (and mostlikely in GT5 aswell) are only cardboard trees, they still look better than the ones on Forza 3 and GTR Evolution for example, just because they give you the impression of really seeing a forrest and not just a few trees standing in a line.

There's a lot of thing missing in the Nordschleife KY was driving- real time shadows in the cockpit and paddle shifting. The former is already implemented even in GT5P abd the paddle shifting is already in the GT5 demo at TGS09. Common sense tells me that it's a build they use mainly to test out the physics of the cars. Both PD and KY are pretty meticulous when it comes to showing version of GT5 (or any of the GT games) that hasn't been released to the public and the Nordschleife is one of the premier track in the GT series.

In the video they said that they use the setup to test the physics, so maybe its just a basic version of the game, where only the physics engine is updated everytime they changed something.

This is a Video from the GT5 Prologue engine and the Nordschleife. You can see the shadows there, but everything else seems to be the same.

someone dare to say wrc wasn't fast...

KMpH wise, no but due to the size of the stages, the width of the road and intensity of the driving it makes it seem much faster than circuit racing even though most circuits can get cars well over 200km\h, without feeling like it.

I also saw someone race using the FT-86 and he was racing against the same cars but in different colours (Black looks really awesome) & the FT-86 sounds exactly like a celica. The game is stunning to see and the physics have improved, when I was racing I was too scared to touch the wall because it will slow you down and you will probably spin out.

yeah i agree but you are only a little incorect. Grop B was amazing fast ! 0-100km/h ~ 3s Say all you want but that's faster than almost all new supercars and they weren't limited to 100 or 150 km/h .... Aliens were driving those cars.. :)

best rally drivers and cars ever...

The spectators back in those days were nuts! I wish I was around to experience that era of rallying. And also it's amazing how much safety has progressed over the years.

Seems to me, back then, that being a rally spectator was on the same danger levels as running with the bulls or bungee jumping. :scared:

It's probably been asked to death but I have yet to see an proper answer(s)- have the graphics improved over Prologue? In the demo, did you get to pick the tires?

The graphics and lighting has improved but the shadows need more work and for the tyres, I didn't get to pick them, just the car.
