GT5 Master Car List

About std cars; will you be able to do anything besides drive them? If you can´t even change the rims, can you do a port polish or slap on a race exhaust? Or even racing tyres? If not what good are they? If PD has spent 6 years developing around 200 cars - of wich maybe 50 is somewhat interesting - I really must say they need to take a step back and rethink their priorities. And saying they did so much more than cars isn´t going to help, since it really isn´t that much else. A track creator that seems a bit scetchy at best? I could do without it.

That'd be better asked of amar212 in his thread.

Best guesses, they can receive all the usual "invisible" modifications but nothing visual - except maybe the car wash.

I believe the standard look like speced up gt4 cars, and hence you can do things to them that you can do in gt4. The premum gt5 cars are made to look better and hence they can have the visual changes.

That's my interpretation and it makes the most sense. i.e. you can do what you usually do to cars, gchange the suspension, gearbox, engine tunes, turbos etc... And just like gt4 cars they will change in driving but not in visuals.

The visual tuning is for the more visual premium cars.

Dear goodness, the number of apocolyptic stories here is rediculos. Since the veyron isn't premum, that must mean all premiums have more power than a bugatti veyron.

AS for FWD vs RWD. It depends on track, the actual cars themselves etc.. A fwd understeers much more, a rwd mid engined should be the best, fi you are racing around suzuka say, but if your on a rally then 4wd is best. If you have a kart, and you stick a 4wd system on it the thing will weight too much and youll be slower anyway.

F1 cars are MR because thats the best setup for speed while insuring the cars are still difficult to drive. A mid engine with rwd and a short wheel base = very pointy

Dear Famine

i think it's better cool down, every one of us (me and you, i mean); i drived all my life FWD (except some RWD test) and i know all of their good features; i agree with you that in some circumstances (your example it's a little bit extreme, but give a right contest comparating two cars different only for traction wheels) FWD and RWD may be quite identical in performance; may be my english it's not so good as i hope; i was reffering to cars actually around, both to buy or race car, or in the GT car list; if you take a FWD and a RWD from the official GT car list, can you make an example of two cars, which have identical time lap, or better can you choose one FWD faster of every other RWD in the list? I'm not provocative but only curious, so i'll try when i have the game; at the end the only really important thing it's not who have the right (nobody has always a absolute right, the truth stay in the middle) but what kind of feeling we can get doing what we love and GT5 it's almost in our hand, at last. Ah, yes, the Holden Monaro; i am not able to remember; if only i can find it in the game... Have a good weekend. Mirko

P.S.: wow, my example about the Ford and the Mustang was a random one, i doesn't think was made really; it's seems to me you are more informed than me; i have to bend my head down... but i always prefer go racing with a RWD. LOL

I'm always cool.

I've had a mix - including one of the best-handling FWD cars ever made (Accord Type-R) and one of the best-handling cars of any kind ever made (MX-5). On a public road in anything but snow, there's no difference.

So why did you want to "delete every front wheel drive car"?

There's loads of cars I dislike on the list - and since I've driven every GT4 car, I know what I'm talking about - but I wouldn't want to delete them from the game. Something I dislike might be something someone else loves - and why would I want to spoil their enjoyment of the game?

I do agree with you Famine...there's alot of fun in FWD as weel and your example the Accord (type R) is such a nicely handeling FWD that i think it would be the car i would buy in real life as well if ii had that budget.

And there are many other fun FWD cars in GranTurismo like the spoon Civic TypeR witch in GT2 had the awesome "HopHopHop back wheels" cornering glitch that was hilarious....the back wheels if suspension was to hard would hop in the corners actualy making the car alot faster in the corners xD.

Not to mention the maxxed out Panda (Fiat) i have in GT4 that can beat Porches and Astons xD (see pic in my thread "The art of GT4 photomode")

BUT and that's a big but....RWD cars are alot more fun when it comes to doing what i do best.....Drifting...no FWD can do what i can do in the HKS HyperSilvia.....

xD and on that bombshell we end the program and we'll see you next week !( i alwais wanted to say that)

Yes, when it comes to the spectacle of drifting FWD will just look on. That's not to say oversteer doesn't occur in FWD cars - a lot of the fondly-remembered FWD cars of the past were very prone to snap oversteer, especially on throttle lift - and it's certainly possibly to initiate a drift in a FWD car without even thinking of the handbrake, but when it comes to maintaining one, the laws of physics require power at the back.

the XFR isn't in the premium dealer... =(

Yeah I figured that too so I changed it back to Standard :(

Can't believe they actually added new additions as Standard, the logic escapes me completely, why create a 2010 car as Standard when you started modelling Premium cars back in, what?, 2006-2007?
I always expected and honestly believed Standard cars were old assets from previous games only, this makes no sense to me at all.:grumpy:

Very dissapointed.

First :

How many 2008/2009/2010 cars are in the game? , and then i talk about regular road cars and super cars. These are the one i found.

Why cant i find these cars in the best car game , and why are they in NFS Hor Pursuit and Forza 3?

If GT5 had the cars of NFD Hot Pursuit and Forza 3 togheter? , then it would be the best car game today , but there are just so many great modern cars missing.

Here's the problem with posts like that:

i dont want ... i dont want ... i dont want ... Id rather have ... what i think

They aren't making the game for you. They're making the game. This means they're limited by:
*What cars they know about
*What cars they want
*What cars they can get licences for
*What cars they can get access to
*What cars they have time to model

Everyone always thinks it's one of the first two - the Polyphony are somehow "stupid" in that they don't know about certain cars or that they can't be bothered to put them in the game, when the reality is that they're always adding new cars to everyone's knowledge. I can count on the fingers of one knee how many Japanese people knew about the Kubelwagen or the XJ13 before GT5 featured them and I could do the same for Americans and TVR and GT1.

Fact is, if it's not in, then one or more points of the chain above are true and you can almost always rule out "they didn't know about them" and "they didn't want them" - Kazunori wants to make GT a "car encyclopaedia". If it's a car, he wants it.

They have the car list of cars they knew about, wanted, could get licences for, could get access to and had time to model. That's it. They didn't make it based on what you want or what you think - they made what they could. You decide if it's for you or not by buying it or not.

Note how you miss out many of the new Premiums such as the XKR, XFR, GTR spec V, 430 Scuderia (just to name a few). Also you may not have realised this yet but many people, myself included do like the older cars and consider them equally important to the latest models.

I did some research. I also tried asking amar. The #51 Oreca Viper looks to be #91's counterpart. But are they both GT2 Class or is one from GTS-1? Because it seems 2000 was a transition year from GT-1 to GT-2. Was just hoping for confirmation.

800 Standard cars , 200 Premium cars

So they made 200 new cars and just put the 800 from GT4 in it. So many uninteresting cars in it. What would you rather drive? , the latest , fastest and most exotic supercars like the Pagani Zonda Cinque or a Koeningsegg Agera or drive some 15 year old japanese scrap. It's the same story like in GT4. There just arent enough supercars in it. Id rather have the carlist from NFS Hot Pursuit then the current carlist. They should have focused more on new cars then on **** like Nascar and Rally and go karts , if i want to play Rally i'l buy Dirt 2 or WRC.

So what do you like the drive more? A Pagani Zonda Cique or a Honda Civic?

For my own interest I decided to see what the Premiums were, and thinned out the Track list to seperate "enviroments."

A Honda Civic. Gran Turismo has never been about supercars, it's always been about the kind of cars that can be seen on the street, like Civic's, Focus's, etc. If you want supercars then play Need For Speed.

TOTAL :
906 cars + 2 [DLC]
- 204 Premium
- 702 Standard
- 167 [NEW]

The main 1st page is wrong, 204+702+167 does not equal 906+2.
Seems like an old thread has got mixed up with a new official GT5 thread.

Can anyone with the game confirm to me that Toyota SUPRA RZ ‘97 is really a standard?

If so that is very very odd decision and the only thing that I'm not happy with the game...

Why would it be an odd decision? It's not new to the series and it's not a new car. Toyota doesn't make the Supra any more, and the only reason they'd make it premium is to make it premium.

Both. Using your logic, you would only ever want to drive the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, because it's faster than everything else. That would be a fun game.

I think he just came from NFS lol. He needs to go back to EA.

Nobody is forcing you to play this "Boring game" kid...go play NFS HP i played the demo and it's perfect for kids like you, we won't miss you in our "civic races" xD bye bye

Just a thought, before anyone slams PD for not making certain cars premium and wheel changes and such... Just think about how long it takes to model a car.
Here is the process for my car modelling.

Idea - planning - photos of the car - blue prints of the car in 3dsMax - start Wireframe - make changes - add mapping - make changes - add textures - more changes - add details. And thats before i even think about Cockpits, wheels, brake calipers, tyres and physics.
Now that can take months for just one car, now turn that to 200 premium cars full cockpits and details and also coding for each car physics.

Just personal food for thought. :)

I think they have done a great job with the time they have had. Sure there is many, many cars i would have liked to see a part of the game, but 6 months a car + travel & test time... Not gonna happen! I am just looking forward to some great retro times, driving cars i haven't seen in a game since GT4 and eventually getting some DLC for us Aussies and the Americans, and the French, & the Germans, and the Koreans and the Brit's, and the Chinese (great wall ute around the 'ring anyone) that helps even up the country balance a little bit

I think this might be why we're seeing some minor glitches, too. There was just so much time put in to physics, cars, tracks and other things that when it came to shadows and some other things, they just didn't have the time before the game released. And, I'm sure, if it wasn't for the ability to patch the game, GT5 would've been delayed to 2011 until these little issues could get fixed. As it is, we're still getting and awesome game and we know PD is at work fixing the last of the bugs and a patch should come shortly...probably along with the Pebble Beach and SEMA GT Award Winners...and maybe some more stuff.

You dont include the "167 "NEW" cars" in the math.

Hmmm, I just thought of something that might not have been brought up before: It's understood that our PSP garages can be transferred over for Arcade use, that I'm clear of, but what of the special pre-order PSP cars? PSP counts my all-black Bugatti, as an example, as a separate model from the regular Bugatti (SP Model, to be specific). Since they're not on the list from PD, I imagine they're not in the game, but since I actually still haven't bought the Veyron in PSP, only received the DLC pack one, I wonder if GT5 will acknowledge that as "good enough" and hand me the keys in Arcade Mode.

Apologies if it's been brought up before, and I felt it made most sense in this thread.
