^^^ If that was the finished game where was the back fires under heavy breaking? and they was definitely heavy breaking in the video.

The answer is they weren't there so it's old, still!!

I think coolcolj is right as usual, it sounds like a place holder.

Exactly man 👍 We are getting small bits of GT5 Its very clear if you see all the footage. Some have weather some don't some have back fire some don't, some have roll over some don't. PD is giving us small bits of their creation. I will make my judgment when Its in my PS3. 👍

Why use a place holder though Col. The games finished.

The footage might not be "recent", or at least, no more recent than the TGS demos. Thus, the sounds still aren't final, because that has been promised for the actual release, not before.

It does sound different to the F1 GTR from GT4, but then that sounded nothing like the real thing. The Zonda R didn't either, but that was changed for GTPSP - the McF1 wasn't, though...

Still inconclusive, for me.

@ DaveTheStalker: works OK here (Opera)

I actually found the sound of the Stealth Mclaren F1 to be rather similar to that of the Pagani Zonda R/ LM ( the Lm from GTPSP ) if not entirely the same. I really love the sounds of the F1 as it hops slightly on the dirt trail. To think I'd say that for Gran Turismo 5, HA! Oh joy, Turismo Tursdays! :D

Come on, the sound is AWFUL in both video... you must have elephant sized earplugs to not HEAR it... I will cry if it's from the final game... so much awesomness and THESE (horrible) engine sounds????

Really? Get over it? I mean, the last time I checked, this is a racing game. What kind of racing sim has engine sounds like this?

Get over it..... lollll... yeah ok

Most of the cars will sound "OK", which is good enough for me. I'm not picky.

Did you cry over Prologue?

Well the Alfa Romeo 147 TI 2.0 Twin Spark in this course maker clip sounds better than the one in Prologue. I hope Kaz isn't lying when he said sounds will be improved over Prologue.
The overall sound and image quality of these videos are pretty rough as well

The sound from that McLaren isn't just bad. It's confusing and disorientating. Hoping this is an old build (once again). Some things suggest it might be, but who knows.. Promo material with these distorted, pulsing GT4-like samples are scaring me! :scared:

Seems great sounds! GT5s could have different exhaust. It seems more as a tunned version rather then race version.

Stock car sound.

Well, the quality of both Gamestop videos is quite bad. I only judge videos when in proper 720/1080p. Some people need to accept that GT5 won't be perfect.

Definitely sounds better than GT5P. 👍

I Don't think anyone is going to argue that the sounds from the 2 gamestop videos are fantastic so if the assumption is made that the sounds are going to be better in the final release why the hell have these been uploaded especially to a retailer website. They aren't going to encourage people to preorder if they were expecting improved sounds.

If these are the final sounds then I'm not going to be massively impressed.

I love the sound of that McLaren, i think it's great. I don't get why some people are still not liking it, is it because it's not accurate enough? or too loud?

Do you think that's why their called stealth models because you wont recognise them from the sounds?

Real life stock Alfa Romeo 147 2.0
Not exactly the same, but not bad. Needs more road/wind noise as well as I noted before, but the lower frequency grunt is there compared to the Prologue version
The throttle blips are still crappy though, nobody would do these tiny little blips like that in real life.

The McLaren sounds a bit... petite. It's not a big deal to me though, as it took the comparison vid to notice that. I'll be fully engrossed when I'm playing the game.

It's because it sounds like GT4. It doesn't even sound like a car! No car makes a noise like that - it's yapping away like a single cylinder, 1cc engine with no inertia. Listen to the GTR in the video posted and there is an EPIC amount of noise being made at a much lower frequency - a deep roaring, rumbling, gurgling sound. The stealth McLaren sounds like a chipmunked version :P

Weired, the video plays fine on our other PC. It sounds like a computerized nightmare. I can't think Sony/PD are proud of this?!?!

Sorry to quote this again, speedfreak69, but I think we need some perspective.

***From the latest interview!***
- Physics, SOUND, and online-features will be Gran Turismo 5’s GREATEST contributions to the evolution of the GT series.

Also, see here.
Polyphony Digital has worked to improve engine sounds.

And, supposedly, in this video, it is stated that the improved sounds won't be heard until the final release. (Can somebody double- / triple-check / back it up etc. - my Italian doesn't really extend far beyond pasta shapes...)

This could all be bollyhocks, of course - the usual PD "trickery" (purposeful or otherwise) - and we could already be hearing the final sounds; but we've still yet to see a final build.
