I'm lukewarm about this update. I think if they had called it an update I would be OK, but in my opinion it doesn't live up to "Spec II". I'm disappointed that this update contains no new events. I'm disappointed that the new tracks will be DLC and therefore likely won't be used in gameplay much if at all. I'm also disappointed that it does nothing to fix the stupid XP system which should have been removed entirely and the license system been brought back.
To be fair, not everything is revealed yet, so there are still some surprises according to the PSblog. Admittingly, I'm being an optimist, but we should wait for the full announcement before any final judgement.
As for XP, there's no point in getting rid of it now. Everyone can easily gain XPs through seasonal events, and the increased XP's in offline events. This shouldn't be a problem like it was when the game just launched.
The license system is pretty subjective imo. I'm hearing a lot of people didn't like being forced to doing them. The way they have it now, it's more of a win-win situation for everyone. The only difference is that having them is now only more of a show, than a necessity, but at it gives us some XP to those who did it, so it's not completely pointless.
Imo, this does deserve a 2.0 label. Physics and A.I., although we don't know to what extent, have been improved. We got plenty of other, new additional features that we've been wanting as well. This may even be bigger than the Spec 2.0 update from GT5
, so that fact alone, I think it deserves the 2.0 label.
