Yeah, I would assume so. You have the ability to control how wide the pavement is, not sure of the exact width. In a video, maybe last month, we saw that you pick the length and number of sections.

Some 2nd hand(watching a guy play GT5 streamed) impressions of Course Maker.

Some info.

Recap:

Tokyo Bay theme is part of "Driving Park" as it uses that logo when loading.

The kart themed course maker locations seemed to only allow about 4 sectors, and the courses are (at first glance just randomizing) relatively simple compared to random presets of other locations\themes.

Non-karts can drive kart themes.

Alaska theme is very undulating and "sudden" although standard road width (at zero) is fairly wide), has indestructobarriers. Time of day can be set and possibly weather(seen it snowing but couldnt make out the options due to stream quality)

Belgian High Fens theme is known as Liege and is a gravel theme with adjustable time.

Toscana Tarmac, same as preview vids, gets pretty narrow if you set it.

None had Point to Point available yet. Possibly to be unlocked later on...

From what I've seen, karts can be driven in non-kart generated tracks. So, even though you can only make smaller tracks for karts, you can make 7 sector tracks and make'em be really narrow, with tight corners and race go-karts in it.

Yeah, Karts can be driven on any DRY PAVEMENT circuit.

I think Autumn Ring Mini will be just an awesome kart race. I've been dreaming of racing karts on that track since the first time I played on it. The only problem will be the uphill curve on the start/finish straightaway, because go-karts can't handle uphill sectors very well.

Yesss, it is Mt Aso just what i was looking for...just hope Point to Point is available for this track, with width at -5 complexity 10 throughout one way, some nice driving roads\touge.

It's a 2 laned road, not sure how you can make it much narrower :)

Ah but that road is more narrow than the course maker video, which isnt aproblem because we can adjust it! but also i noticed in the Eifel Garaiya video that the road width influences the tightness of the corners, so teh wider roads had wider sweeping corners even at their most "complex" setting, where as the narrow -5 width sections had extremely tight turns.

The road in the vid above corresponds to about -5 (minimum) width at the Eifel theme.

The video has a skewed field of view though, there are buses on the road and there is room around them. Buses are fairly wide things :)

I see 2 single-car width lanes, the Section 3 of Eifel Garaiya was about 2 cars wide. So its about the same i think.

I just hope the Mt Aso theme goes INTO the mountain passes and not just around the mountain, id love to see all the nice greenery scenery from the vid above and not jsut empty fields.

The theme looks to be around the top parts of the mountain range if it shows the Wind generators, but the theme probably contains the topography of a fairly wide area, so the track can be layed anywhere in the region

You can see a treeline on the side of the video

The tricky part would be making the stage either hillclimb or downhill, youd have try to get the road winding up the topographical map while not having it reconfigured to another start point.

It would be nice if we could select start point on the map and end point (or both for circuits) and just have the randomness happen between those 2 fixed points, but it seems as though the start\end points shift as the layout changes.

Day/night cycles available for all tracks in the track maker? If not, atleast a static day or night option? Same goes for weather options. This is important for me because of the small amount of PD created tracks that support these options.

They're all static AFAIK, selectable time of day from 6am to 6pm in 1 hour increments, dry or wet.
And some with night

Static only. You choose the time of day and weather conditions, though I doubt you'd be able to race on some under varying weather (I'm mostly thinking of karts here).

And practically every major circuit created by Polyphony - mostly the real-world ones - has a day/night option and a variable weather option (though not both together); they're just only available on one version of a particular circuit.

What's with the rally track that was in the Best Buy demo, it had day/night cycle, I thought that was created from the track maker. I wonder why the day/night cycles aren't an option on the track maker, the surroundings aren't highly detailed like city tracks so processing power isn't a factor.

That was the final version of Toscana. The track maker theme is tarmac.

Would you mind reposting the Eifel Kart Theme? It's blocked.

Unfortunately I didn't save it :(
Might be still in my internet cache, I'll have a look.
It basiclly looks like sparser version of Nurburgring.

I'm going to lose so much time on the Course Maker. Between making my own and downloading others it'll sap my life. Any word on how many tracks you can save/store/download?

Same as replays I guess, save onto your HD, and they're probably all quite small, just bits of numbers and random seeds
