I see a pretty comprehensive list coming together here, so rather than just name some cars and tracks I want to see, I’m going to discuss a way GT6 can be more relevant to what it is seeking to offer, which is a realistic GT racing experience. What I propose PD does rather than just throw a few more premium cars and a few new (and old) tracks into GT6 is give us not only more Premium cars (or do away with the low-res ‘standard’ models altogether) but more realistic options for customizing them, especially in the Race-Modified (RM) area.
Let’s use the FIA GT1 series, one which a lot of GTPlanet race organizers have emulated. GT5 actually included a premium (street-going) version of almost every car that ran in the 2012 season of that series. The list is as follows—McLaren MP4-12C (GT3), Ferrari 458 Italia (GT3), Aston Martin DB(RS)9, Porsche 911 (GT3R), Ford GT (GT3), BMW E89 Z4 (GT3), Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+ (GT3), Audi R8 (LMS ultra), and Mercedes Benz SLS AMG (GT3). Of the cars on the list, I believe only the Porsche wasn’t available in GT5 (due to EA’s exclusive license agreement with Porsche, which I suspect might end in the near future). None of the cars that were in GT5 had the RM option available, which, while we had fun participating in those series, they were difficult to set up, and still didn’t feel quite like the real thing.
But why stop with just adding the RM option to more cares? Rather than the Race Modification just turn the car into some sort of generic GT racer (or something useless, like the 2010 Camaro SS RM, which seemed to turn the Camaro into some sort of half-assed stock car, when they could of made it something like the Grand Am version) why not include RMs based on specs from real-world series? What if when you selected the menu option to RM the car, you then got a sub-menu where you could choose from one or more real-world and perhaps one or more ‘fantasy’ specs. Using the 458 Italia as an example, our sub-menu would perhaps show the FIA GT1 series, the Grand-Am Continental Tire Series, and LeMans/Blancpain Endurance Series as available specs to choose from.
If PD were to add this feature while getting as many real-world tracks as possible into the game, it would allow us to simulate any number of real-world series in game. What do you guys think?
