i think i was downloadable everywhere, but you can only compete in GT academy in the countries that are selected.

That's correct - a nice friendly pop up yelled at me when I opened GT Academy "Reminding me" that my country isn't eligible but that I'm still free to set a time.

grrrlpurple, what shadow flickering are you referring to? I haven't tried the demo yet as at work, but the only flicker I could discern in the video jBhIpS posted was from trees, and to me implied movement of the branches/leaves. This is realistic, if perhaps a little overdone. Shadows of cars and other static objects looked OK to me, and certainly a marked improvement.

Ugh, damn it. Sorry for you people who want to try it half a day earlier than I do here in the states. I'm too "slow" and wasting my time watching TV to do that. I'll waste my time and wait for the great ol' United States of America "version" to pop up for US. :D

Well whoop dee doo, bazzle. Maybe you haven't been playing GT5 for +2 years straight, don't notice/understand the other improvements that have been made and are too judgemental, yeah I said that. Either way, as long as the physics feel better in this demo than GT5's, I'll be glad. 370z with sports hard tires/tyres drifting, here I come! Edit - I usually use comfort Medium tires.

I have been playing gt5 most days since it's release, yes the UI is smoother but the improved physics that everyone keeps gushing over don't seem that much different

After having spent a good 2-3 hours with the demo, my main concerns are the dreadful AI and the clearly noticeable framerate issues. As far as sounds go, I reserve judgment until GT6.

I was however pleasantly surprised by the the new physics, the much quicker and cleaner UI and faster loading times. I hope none of this will be changed for the worse down the line for GT6.

Otherwise, I pretty much agree with what UrieHusky and grrlpurple has said.

... brain dead. ...

... brilliant ...

... Good in places, lacking in others ...

... Great! ...

... Stunning ...

... Far more impressive ...

... Absolutely lovely and a massive improvement...

... great improvement ...

All in all it's a very disappointing experience as a demo

Summed up your post. First your only real negative point is the AI, after which comes much praise, and then you conclude you're disappointed?

Sounds like you're whining on a pretty high level.

And, yes, I know your statements are blatantly shortened.

After like 3h with the demo I'm totaly sold to the new physics and lightning system, loadings are near 2x faster but theres only 6 cars... HDR is the best I've seen on console racers so far!

I'm disappointed because I was hoping for a time trial on the available tracks to do multiple laps to fully test out everything easier - it's made much more of a hassle when I'm having to dodge around the AI as they cut me off and then restart the race after two laps.

If you don't like my opinion that's fine but claiming I'm "Whining" without knowing the reason for my statement is frankly quite rude.

It's a disappointing demo. Everything I was talking about in that post relate to the full game.

My gameplay 1080p 👍 no HUD + Replay

AI...at least the AI in the white car didn't bail as soon as he went for the pass (good view of replay at 4:45). It was actually side-by-side through a corner or more. Hopefully it improves more.

Shadows of car parts (ie wing mirrors) flicker on the car body, shadows on stands, walls, coving all flicker during replay - I didn't even notice the tree shadows as I was so distracted by how bad the other shadows were ;)

Just go backwards. You get a couple of laps dodging the AI, then they pull into the pits and you can go round and round as much as you like with no interference.

Hmm thanks for the tip! Genuinely didn't even think about that.

Finally was able to d/l it from the UK PSN Store. Driving with ABS off is a little more difficult due to not being able to adjust the brake balance. It's been a while since the last time I raced the AI not at Level A with aggression turned up to 10 and it's rather shocking just how slow they are by comparison. I like what they're trying to do with the shadows, but it needs work. The framerate is the biggest surprise as I assumed having it be a rock-steady 60fps would have taken priority over everything else.

@UrieHusky - Go to your garage, choose car and select 'free run' from the options. 👍
