It's pointless because GT's physics are absolutely terrible at emulating damage. Damage is one of those things that Kaz shouldn't waste time on. The only game that might even remotely give sorta realistic damage is CARS, but it can do that because of the fact that it isn't made only for consoles. I think though they won't invest that much time in damage like they did in GT5 if they do have it implicated. :) So it won't be a complete waste of resources.

I want realistic crashes and visual damage.. Thats all.. Mechanical damage can be implemented but i dont mind it the way it is

Why would you add an option like... Fool what's wrong with you! ? You know people are going to choose it only because it's funny.

I added it only to be funny myself lol.

@ bass264

See I had no real problem with GT5's damage except for the fact it opened up more as you level up I seriously hate the leveling system of GT5 a lot.

If they can like I said emulate the damage close enough to where it's realistic I see no problem in them having us pay to repair the damage either during a race or afterwards.

The only game I've ever seen it done right in is NFS Porsche Unleashed. You took body damage from collisions, suspension (and in extreme cases, body) damage from jumps, and engine/drivetrain damage from overdriving the engine. At the end of the race it calculated how much damage you had done, but it didn't require you to fix it and you could enter your damaged cars in more races if you wanted to save money. They also had the used car section have cars in various states of disrepair that you could also fix.

So if they can emulate a style like that, I'd be all for it. But if they do one of those autorepair systems like NFS IV had, where damage only occurs when you plow into things and it fixes your car regardless of if you want it to (or can afford it), then I'd rather they didn't even bother.

That would be perfect. Good ways of thinking, but for some reason I highly doubt Kaz will put Pay for Damage in GT6.

I hope he does it gives me a reason to keep making money during career mode, and also will make getting cars that much more rewarding that's why I liked NFS Porsche Unleashed the new cars felt that much better when I got them.

Again though like Toronado said if they can't implement in that way I'd rather if they do it that is not do it at all.

Did they patch this in? I don't remember this.

They didn't. Anyone who tells you that more advanced damage is unlocked as you progress further through the game is lying. Full damage is unlocked the moment you put your GT5 disc into your PS3 console and start up the game. It's just that rally cars and special cars have more advanced damaged models than most other cars, and because in GT Mode, you can only access those cars and buy them when you reach a certain level, I see why this made people think that you have to increase your level to see more damage on your car. This is not true.

If you don't believe me, start a new GT5 profile, go into Arcade mode, select a rally car and crash it many times. The damage model that you get at Level 0 will be the same damage model that you get with Level 40.

I believe you. It's Zuku's comments I won't believe from now on.

Cheers.

Hold on I didn't mean to intentionally lie I was more so talking about GT Life mode because that's where I spent most of my time. When you start out barely any damage gets done. Cause I remember repeatedly trying to crash my car in earlier levels and it barely got damage done. It wasn't until around level 30 in GT Life that damage got better. Actually around level 15 and later I began noticing the improvements in the damage.

I only used Arcade mode like once or twice never really damaged the car that much.

Oh ok.

No probs. just frustrating when posts appear as facts.
Your not the first or last so no worrys.
Alls good.

I've not updated GT in awhile so it's hard to pick fact from fiction.
A major update about levelling up damage would have made huge waves here.

I remember ISR getting to level 40 for review purposes and debunking the damage rumour.

It's not really his fault. The "progressive damage" thing has been floating around since the day the game came out. It was a theory that was brought up to try to explain away why GT5's damage model was so terrible when the game first came out ("Maybe it gets better at later levels") that was picked up and ran with; occasionally strung along by people posting "proof" that that is how GT5's damage worked. I'm guessing Zuku just saw one of the posts claiming it was true and assumed it was.

Sorry, but whoever this guy debunking the damage at level 40 rumor lied that is if he did it through GT Life mode if done through Arcade mode then he is correct damage is straight out of the box like MSTER232 said.

From what I saw myself for GT Life everyone was right it was progressive damage I even tested it in early on like level 7 I got some bruises on the cars, but nothing like I did when I got to level 34 my bumpers finally began to fall off a bit, and other things happened too.

Your telling me GT life has scaleable damage dependent on level? Hmm.

Anyone else back this up?

Yes I kid you not at an early level I was excited about the damage modeling for GT5 so one of the first things I did took a Ferrari out to Tokyo Route course, and kept running into crap whatever I saw only thing I got out of it was scratches, and that's about it.

Then around level 20 took out a RM Nissan GT-R to Madrid did the same thing except I noticed the bumpers began to get messed up, but they didn't come off or start hanging like they were coming off at that point.

Then at level 30-34 I took the same GT-R back to Tokyo and when I started to run into stuff the damage got more realistic bumpers hanging like they're coming off even my rear was messed up like caved in pretty bad.

Never did see the doors come off the hinge that's probably level 40 or just WRC cars only.

I don't know if I'd call it scaleable, but I like the term progressive damage better.

I know for a fact that I got the "Beware of falling objects" trophy at Daytona when I was level 0.

In Arcade or GT Life? And also was it in the original GT5 or GT5 XL I never had Spec 1 of GT5 so that's also a difference.

Are you sure that you are not mistaken? PD didn't implement progressive damage as you increase your driver level. It's the same damage model all the way through.

I am not like I said when I was level 10 and below driving course like Circuit de la Sarthe and Tokyo Route 246 for me in GT Life I rammed these cars speeds from 160-200 mph.

Nothing, but minor scratches is all I got. This wasn't Arcade mode either this was strictly GT5's career mode A-spec.

It's so bad with the damage that I didn't experience a roll over until level 30 I think I tried it once at a lower level at Trial Mountain and while it turned it never fully flipped over. Now this one maybe just me I'd understand that, but as for the damage gets worse as you level at least for me that's true.

Looking at some vids on Youtube even they are saying that as well.

Update: looking into even more WRC/Rally Cars have this damage at level 0 is what most folks are saying, but the cars I had were Ferrari's and Nissan GT-R those get damage as you level up.

I think gt5 had a good start to it... For example... Put just visual damage on... Then get out the recommended ford focus... Damage the front clip (just ram head on with stuff repeatedly)... Eventually the car won't go over just above 90mph... I know that after that ram it some more then it will go over 90mph...

I do hope they do put full damage in GT6... First car i would wreak is the piece of you know what 1998 ford turuas... I would make it look like the one i had after the throttle stuck wide open and transmission locked up and i hit a tree at 45mph... I almost died... Worst money i ever spent... But if they don't i will still love GT

Right here. It was on the same page:

This is true. During GT Life I spent quite some time trying to get this trophy before I had done a single race.

What kind car were you using? Like I said I'm not making this up I remember ramming my cars constantly to see if damage was there early on, but to no avail. at 160 to 200 MPH mind u also. I can't prove it with a video because I took the game back yesterday.
