Placeholder framerate.

I suspect this is going to be the go to argument for the "everything is fine, nothing to see here" crowd until release. Anything that's sub-par will be deemed "placeholder".

At this rate, GT6 will be an entirely placeholder game.

''Adaptive tesselation'' It's not like GT5's premium models are lacking polygons.

You realise that the adaptive tessellation is designed to make the cars LESS detailed when zooming out, right? Not the other way around?

The PS4 would be a perfect platform to start fresh but it looks like they've screwed themselves once again.

I completely agree, but not now:
A. PD has a tradition of releasing two games per console. They don't seem to be breaking this any time soon.
B. The PS3 still has life. No doubt it will still be sold alongside the PS4 for at least another year just like the Xbox 360.
C. There would be substantially less sales if GT6 was PS4 only. I've already seen many users on this forum who wouldn't like to go out and buy a new console for one game (personal preference). Though I personally would've loved GT6 to be next-gen, I don't have money to waste on another console plus the new required monthly PS+ to play online, so I'd much rather use what I have now, i.e the PS3.
D. You're judging a demo. DEMONSTRATION. Do you know what this means? It's not finished yet. I know this is a typical argument but it's very valid, and the 'Holiday 2013' release date is at least 6 months away. Things can change... don't know how (and going by PD's track record nothing probably will, unless it takes another 2 years like GT5P to GT5. Moving on). Yet, you say "but it looks like they've screwed themselves", referring to PD. "Looks like". You don't know for sure.

I'm just saying. I'm not a 'fanboy' or whatever, in fact GT5 bores me now. I'm just calling it how I see it, don't try to flip the switch and say I'm biased like people have to others who voice themselves. I understand the demo has flaws, as does GT5.

That was very will put. And I cannot agree with you more.

Urgh. Why did they raise the display resolution? They freed up all those resources, and that is what they used some of them on?

Because MLAA makes the image blurrier as opposed to hardware AA. They've increased the resolution to counter that somewhat while still using less frame buffer than the lower resolution with hardware AA would.

Yes and like I said, the track tested wasn't the worst one in the demo. Silvy is worse. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the frame rate dropped to 20-25fps at points on Silverstone.

Nobody is saying that PD won't improve things for the full release. I'm holding out hope that they will so that at the very least I can have 60fps at 1080 for Time trials which is my favorite thing to do in the game. The issue some of us have is that we pointed out these problems when the demo first came out and a bunch of folks said "there's no frame rate problems for ME! You're just hating on PD!" and scoffed at the whole notion. Now the testing is out and shows that there definitely is a problem and its "oh but its only 60 down to 40fps ...no problem!"

I would be surprised if it dropped below 20fps, I cant take what you say for truth because my experiences are different from yours, so I can only take it as an opinion.
I didnt say any of that so again I dont know what it has to do with my comment. From the beginning ive been saying people have different experiences and PD should fix it so that everyone have the same experiences, rather it be fixing the AA so that there will be little to no difference between playing in 1080p and 720p or making it a steady framerate for all.So yea, your barking up the wrong tree buddy :)

I corrected this for you:

Stunned as in amazed or stunned, as in, :grumpy:

I'll take sarcasm for $1000 Alex:sly:

This. It may sound typical to lots of people, but I'll pretty much say the same thing too if I was able to type up a wise "wall of text". Now that everyone has tested the demo, and discovering issues with the fps. This should notify PD that they need to fix this one way or another.

It isn't a choice, it's a must because this, right now, is a problem everyone is having, which should AT LEAST be solved "hopefully" through the coming months.

These have not been a problem for me.

Not a problem for me either. And I'm not in denial, there is probably framerate drops, if that analysis says there is I have no reason to question that. But framerate drops doesn't affect my gameplay in any way, I hardly notice unless I'm looking for it.

But then again, I'm used to playing games at a crappy computer so my standard for framerate drops is when it drops to five or six frames per second :P

Nice thread, this is GT Academy 2013 and not GT6 demo. No where does it state that at all, it simply states GT Academy 2013 powered by GT6.

Agreed. Hopefully GT6 isn't powered by GT6 and we are good to go.

A demo for a game that launches in 5 months has performance issues?

I am stunned.

Drive Club and many PS4 games had performance issues at E3. Many expect that to improve by release.

I have the same hope with GT6.

My only real concern is this adaptive tesselation. I've heard them say its advanced tech they thought could only be used on the PS4, but since they've had extended time with the PS3 they got it up and running on the console. I just hope it wasnt a mistake and if it was they can pull it out.

If not, GT6 may be delayed to Q2 2014 etc

Yeah because PD are well known for listening to what their fans want aren't they!

For all saying they haven't got framerate issues you either: do not have a clue or you are playing in 720p.

I just changed to 720p and the difference in framerate is immediately noticable, its more like GT5, not perfect but much, much better!

I don't know what you all waiting to see its on the PS3???
I'm not expecting any changes on the graphical part an thats how it goes its all about content just like GT3 and GT4 a boost on content, cars, tracks and a new interface nothing else will be majorly updated.
You guys are trying to compare next with current gen or with arcade games with 60 cars and 10 tracks, want something better than this wait for GT7 easy!!!!

Nobody expected better graphics, we just expected the newer game to run at least on par with its 3 year old predecessor but the fact that it performs worse is laughable.

Exactly!

No one is moaning about graphics, its framerates we're bothered about!

The GTA is just a placeholder before GT6. GT6 will have a new graphics engine, new physics engine, good sounds and 1500 cars. So, please dont judge this "thing" which is not a demo, not a presentation of the game that will come out in just 4-5 months. It is just a little piece of software created for hiding the true quality of GT.

Seriously, which game changed that drastically from the demo to full release? I cant think of one demo I played over the years. And if something have changed, then it was going in the negative direction. GT lost its sharp and clean look at this state. The horizon is blurring out and the jaggies are unacceptable. This is why I always voted for a PS4 release. PD tries to push over the limits, but the hardware wont participate.

If the current problems wont be solved for release, there will be one customer less.

They are just giving the game some room to breathe and try to spread the quality on every aspect of the game not only on the cars but tracks scenery so it simple, old hardware less room for improvement ,cut from the cars put more detail on the scenery and everything will blend together not like GT5 cars looked awesome and the tracks were GT4 graphics.
And all that will affect the overall performance but still even on 1080p the fps doesn't drop under 50. Source :http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-gt6-demo-vs-gt5

OMG!

Are you really that blinded by PD worship?

Everything is a placeholder guys, nothing to see here, lets go home and wait for this perfect GT6 with rock solid 60fps, all AA sorted out and completely new sounds for every car!

WAKE UP!

Edit, sorry i think you were answering a question but not sure?

Don't worry. It's all placeholder anyway. GT6 will be totally different.

Well, I just leave this here:

Did you even watch it?

It drops to 40fps (3.20 in vid) and that doesn't include the worst offender which is Silverstone!

In my opinion i think thats a hardware problem and not PDs nothing to do about it theres a lot of action around and the hardware is on its limits ,they are trying hard to keep the quality up to the standards of GT5 a little more now with the more detailed tracks, thats what i m trying to say here like Newton said for every action theres an equal and opposite reaction !!!! Peace out I'm going to bed.
