*fyi: if you do not enter into the qualifier when joining the race, your TCS may be reset to 3. I kept seeing it randomly reset and this was pointed out to me.

If 200 people queue for a 10 grid race, there will be 20 sessions to accommodate all the drivers. These sessions are "splits"Dumb question: What does "top split" mean exactly? Obviously it has to do with the quality of the drivers. But, what is the cutoff? Are you top split once you hit A+?
"I was in a top split race yesterday." What does that mean?
In a similar boat. Just started playing online in this game, a month or so ago. Was off to a flying start getting wins and fighting for wins every race. Got bumped up to C, then B, and eventually was dropped in lobbies with A & A+ drivers and things changed quite a bit.Ooooooftt... Couple races today.
I think I'm just about done with the game for a loooooong time.
I've always took issue with sport mode lobby system. In the years I've played in sport mode in gt sport and now gt7 i always, ALWAYS feel like I've been punished for actually improving my lap time.
Each week I focus on one race and gradually bring my qually down over the days and all that does is move me toward the front of the grid in C/S, never pole and more often than not the top two or three guys in the race are a level or two above everyone else, so a win is 99% impossible.
The flip side to this, at least in my head is after years of racing and now that gt7 only keeps track of outright wins (I'll never not be pissed that the game doesn't even record podiums in our records) is I've lost all motivation for anything other than a potential win.
I know what you're gonna say - those races where you raise your position from 12th to 5th and have a super fun time etc. but I've been there and done that and for the life of me finding joy in finishing an utterly anonymous 5th or even 2nd came and went for me a long time ago. Not being able to look at my top 5 finishes in my profile has destroyed this game for me.
Sorry for the rant, I had to just get it all out on my way out the door 😂
Thanks. How do you know if you're in that session, or if there is another with higher rated drivers? If 200 people queue for a 10 grid race, there will be 20 sessions to accommodate all the drivers. These sessions are "splits"
Splits are done in accordance to rank, so the top 10 drivers will be in one session, the next 10 will be in another session, and so on.
To be in top split means you are part of the session with the highest rated drivers.
You don't specifically, but you kind of get to know who the top split drivers are when they pop up all the time. If you're seeing Tidgney, SuperGT, Kei etc.. it's probably safe assumption you're in top split.Thanks. How do you know if you're in that session, or if there is another with higher rated drivers?
If there are any A+/S drivers in the room, 99% chance you're in the top split. At least in NA a full A+/S room is pretty much unheard of. Usually there are only 1 to 3 racing at a time in one of the races.Thanks. How do you know if you're in that session, or if there is another with higher rated drivers?
Thanks. Being in the States I'll not see those guys (at least on their primary accounts), but I get what you're saying. You don't specifically, but you kind of get to know who the top split drivers are when they pop up all the time. If you're seeing Tidgney, SuperGT, Kei etc.. it's probably safe assumption you're in top split.
This seems to be what I see quite often. A few A+s and a handful of As.If there are any A+/S drivers in the room, 99% chance you're in the top split. At least in NA a full A+/S room is pretty much unheard of. Usually there are only 1 to 3 racing at a time in one of the races.
(One exception, if you see one A+/S and mostly D/S, it's a quirk in matchmaking. The A+ then likely has between 80 and 89 SR and got added to left over spots in the lowest DR 90-99 SR room)
Thoughts on this overtake please? The guy wasn’t happy about it.
I would say that was overambitious move. No way to notice that you are alongside. In my opinion not enough alonside at the turn in to take notice. Kind of rookie mistake to try to overtake there.Nothing wrong with that, he kinda turned in on you without seeing you were there (or thought you would back out like the new F1 rules suggest)...
I see you got slammed with penalties for his retaliation though. Fun times.
The radar is there for a reason. In reality the other driver would have been able to use his side mirrors and peripheral vision to check. He was 50% alongside, that's fair game.I would say that was overambitious move. No way to notice that you are alongside. In my opinion not enough alonside at the turn in to take notice. Well as a result of that penalty I’m in an SR spiral and have to deal with lunatics like this. P4 has a good view, I’m p2 blue car. The guy was blocking the whole race but I made a fair move with no contact. He went bonkers after.
I’m collecting them this evening. Called it a day after this right at the end of the race. This is supposedly an A+ driver trying to ruin my race by causing an accident.

I definitely understand wanting to win. It's fun and a confidence booster.I actually have some sympathy, I am regularly qualifying p10 to 16 with many a+ drivers hogging wins.
The solution is to drop your safety rating. It is what it is.

I’m still not sure. I’ve made that move stick once before with a guy that was paying attention and he obviously got the better exit and we had a great run down to the finish, I assumed he deliberately rammed me but maybe it was an accident. The 2nd guy I should have just let take the win. I only wanted to get a clean race and get out of lower SR rooms. I was in with him again a couple of races later, he was pole I was 2nd, I just stayed back and let him win. He was in the pre race chat saying I was a rammer and everyone should watch out because I will ram them. Some odd people about. It's tough one to call. Part of me says once you made contact you should of backed off and the other part says **** him as his reaction was a bit over the top.....he did try and side swipe you ? or did him hitting he barrier cause that ?
Sadly he obviously decided with his 4 second penalty he wasn't gonna win so next best thing was to stop you winning
Honestly I'm still, and always will be, a massive advocate for them to add shuffle races. I've said it a million times before and will say it a million times again - but it solves your issue, solves any issues of replayability, and just overall keeps Sport fresh.I do wish GT7 had actually introduced some 'daily' races or at least had a quicker turnaround than Sport. I'm finding being back at work and with evenings more for family time during the week the old problem that by the time I get to put some laps in on the game at the weekend, everyone else has driven these tracks to death and are way ahead of me.
Little whinge maybe but starting 15th and grabbing that coveted 13th spot in race doesn't really light a fire after a week looking forward to it.
Adding a race on the weekend or replacing one even as more people are able to log on would be a nice touch. Something else like Friday night racing with a different one appearing every week, there's lots they could do to mix this up a bit.
Nice work mate. Consistency is paying off for you.Look who was on his American account yesterday.
...and look who beat him.
Yes, he is WAY faster than me. Yes, he started from the back and passed me. Yes, he crashed which is how I passed him back. Yes, he was catching me towards the end of the last lap (although I am convinced he wouldn't have caught me as I was up ~2.0 seconds when I was entering the sharp, double apex right hander towards teh end of the lap), he had another off. Guess he didn't like that car. But, it matters naught... it all counts. We did race a bit with no drama in three different races, but as I said he is way faster so it wasn't long before he was gone.
Other than that, did a few more Cs and tied my best result last night getting a P3 after starting P5. The two A+ drivers drove off and left us shlubs to fight amongst ourselves. The driver in this green Beetle was keeping me honest and was basically right on my tail for the whole race. On the last lap he did the curb ride thing (I don't care) and got right on my bumper thru T1. I think it threw him off a bit and he went wide into the S turns and had an off, so that gave me some breathing room until an A+ twitch streamer who started last was now breathing down my neck. I was able to hold him off and get on the podium; one of my more intense daily C races despite it was 99% defensive.
I didn't want him in the screenshot, but the A+ twitch driver is just off screen and finished right behind me.
I'm sticking it out with the Aston DB9, which might be a mistake. At the beginning of the week people were saying it was going to be the non-Beetle best car, but as the week went on less-and-less people were using it. Now, I don't see anyone else using it. Oh well, I'm in too deep with it at this point and having to learn a new car my times would be way off pace.
I am ready for a new set of Dailys.
If you want more victories, your best bet is A & B races. In a similar boat. Just started playing online in this game, a month or so ago. Was off to a flying start getting wins and fighting for wins every race. Got bumped up to C, then B, and eventually was dropped in lobbies with A & A+ drivers and things changed quite a bit.
Got bumped up into A and basically it's a fight for survival. If I start in the top 7 I am happy. The guys up front have a quali lap like seconds better than mine and they're just gone. From there is a battle for maybe a top 5. I did get a win in Daily B this week as an A driver and it's my only one; I feel like that was an anomaly though as I was far from the fastest driver . In Daily C, I've not shared that success. A P3 is my best result and it felt like a win, even though I was a ton of time behind P2 (10+ seconds or so if I recall).
So yea, I feel your pain on that front. I feel like I am out of my league driving with As and A+s. I can usually keep pace with the A, and even get by some... but I definitely get passed by some as well. The A+s are just gone. I was really hoping to unlock the 50 win achievement but I am sitting at 29 with little hope in getting many more. It is what it is though.
I should move. Pole sitters today are in the 57s.Your pace is there, easy a+ pace in America's.
