Just curious, how are you guys able to control/feather the throttle input using the buttons? In my mind I picture using the buttons as 100% throttle, or 0%.
The face buttons actually happen to have a very small window of "analog"... But it's really slim, you have to be extremely precise to feather throttle or brake using them.

Kudos to those guys!

My guess, it's a old school gamer thing 😆

I thought the analogue face buttons were dropped from the PS4 onwards??

They have been indeed. But you can modulate you input, tap tap tap, the game smoothes it out a bit. It's no different than steering was before analog sticks came around. Tap tap tap to go around the corner.
Figured that woukd be the way, I used to do the same on GT1 all those years ago.

Questioned the face button thing cause I thought I was going mad lol

Yeah, that's right.
I have to tap the buttons to control it.
By the way, nice job yesterday. I was in a race (either B or C) where you totally dominated. :gtpflag:
I started/ended at the back. :embarrassed:

I noticed your alt back there right as the race was about to start, wasn't enough time to type anything. I meant to say "what's up" afterwards, then totally forgot :/

Still hoping they add pre/post race quick chat back asap. The real race is typing everything you want to get in before the actual car race starts.

Same way porcupines mate, very carefully. We tap, you hear our engines surging in corners. This is also why we apex high and early, so once we rotate we can gas on hard. Can cause issues as looks like the door is open.

And my biggest Respect to the People out there who are able to get lap times under 2:16.
I tried my best with a few FR Cars, no Chance.
I didn’t try the Beetle though.
Got various FR Cars in the mid 16s Range, MR Cars all low to mid 17s, but the precision and skill required to get under 16s let alone 14s and don’t even think about 13s 😅, these Players are Masters and drive on a Level which is way beyond my Skills.
Kudos to you 💪🏻
the get 13s because they are 'riding the curbs'. 16s range is pretty good imo, especially when you not use the Beetle and the curb riding...
and don't call yourself a 'decent' driver! too modest! I have seen your laptimes and shared a track with you: you are very fast!
much faster then me

It’s my favourite track and overtaking cleanly is a puzzle here. Great fun.
Been enjoying it a lot more since my post a couple of days ago, since I bought the 155 and have managed to get a 2.01.3 quali time with it. I’m back up to DR B now but the penalties if you start mid pack….. JFC. Still not got a win this week but I am usually making up places on my grid position.
IMHO if you are on the inside at the apex and the person doesn’t concede the corner and drives into you, bounces off, that shouldn’t be a penalty. Couple of times yesterday I really thought there was no point going for it (and I wasn’t dive bombing) as I ended up with 6 seconds of penalties.

I would play race B a lot more if it was more than 4 laps. The race is way too short, even for a race B.

Instead I'm driving Race C a lot this week. And repeating it over and over really helps improving the times.

I've had this race for example. I was racing against Px7-Aura, one of the fastest drivers in GT, and was able to stay with him. Yes, he was in a slower car as I was using the Beetle at that time, but still I've never been that consistent in a race before.

I've also started using different cars yesterday, although given you can only do one race per 30 minutes it does take a while.
The new Subaru BRZ is sooo slow on the straights, so that was not good. But the AMG's and the Aston's were decent to drive. Although the Beetle still is OP.

I've also stopped using the curb "glitch".
It may be faster on paper, but it's not easy to get it right over and over again. I've found it that I'm faster without it over a race distance, as I'm less prone to mistakes and more consistent in general.

Thanks for the kind words my Man.
Of course I didn’t ride the Curbs.
Didn’t even knew nor am I interested in the slightest to do or even attempt to try it.
That’s not my type of Racing 😅
You know what’s really funny though?!
The Streamers and other top tier Players all crying and complaining about this Curb Thing, telling People to not do it, but at the same time all tryharding to perfectionize this Skillset.
Weird Mindset I‘m tellin‘ ya 😂

To be fair, I do understand it. You can reach a point where in order to stay competitive, you have to abuse the mechanics offered to you. You can hate it, you can want it to change - but it doesn't change the fact that you have to do it if you want to win, especially in higher lobbies where all the time left on the track comes from using it.

Man jumped in the beetle and BANG an 18.6 even with no TC and me scared as heck to hit the gas. It's the only car that stays stable when I HAUL it into corners, it suits my style as much as it did in GTS.

My Point was you can’t tell People not to do it or complain about it BUT!!! at the same time doing it.
Everyone is entitled to play the Game in the way he wants to play it and do whatever he thinks is necessary to be competitive.
But eating Meat and saying that killing Animals shouldn’t be done is very fishy imo.
But each to his own 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree with you.
Also, it's not like the curb issue instantly makes you 3 seconds faster. Yes, it has the potential, but getting it right is not easy, and if you mess up in can also easily cost you more time than you gain.

So I finally got round to having a quick Sport race. Errr... those penalties! The 458 in front of me braked so early i tapped his rear end and he tapped the wall, 4 sec penalty for me! Ouch!! Then does the same thing end of the long straight at Trial Mountain, pulls in front of me and brake checks me, another 3 secs. Yikes!!

Recovered to 8th in the end, but damn those penalties have gotten strict! Going to have to be super evasive in the braking zones from now on.

On another note, are there still sites to track progress like we used to, to see DR and SR, plus recent race results??

It's the first time that I can recall race B being shorter than race A.
For the people who are used to GT Sport, it seems kind of strange.
Was NGP ever used for Race A? Can't recall any of the longer tracks used except SSRX and Yamagiwa.

Ooooooftt... Couple races today.

I think I'm just about done with the game for a loooooong time.

I've always took issue with sport mode lobby system. In the years I've played in sport mode in gt sport and now gt7 i always, ALWAYS feel like I've been punished for actually improving my lap time.

Each week I focus on one race and gradually bring my qually down over the days and all that does is move me toward the front of the grid in C/S, never pole and more often than not the top two or three guys in the race are a level or two above everyone else, so a win is 99% impossible.

The flip side to this, at least in my head is after years of racing and now that gt7 only keeps track of outright wins (I'll never not be pissed that the game doesn't even record podiums in our records) is I've lost all motivation for anything other than a potential win.

I know what you're gonna say - those races where you raise your position from 12th to 5th and have a super fun time etc. but I've been there and done that and for the life of me finding joy in finishing an utterly anonymous 5th or even 2nd came and went for me a long time ago. Not being able to look at my top 5 finishes in my profile has destroyed this game for me.

Sorry for the rant, I had to just get it all out on my way out the door 😂

I’ve never won a race in DR A, probably never will, all the front row guys are mega quick A+ drivers but I enjoy trying to keep up and race whoever is around me. If I was routinely winning races all the time I’d probably be annoyed if I suddenly wasn’t so it’s all relative I suppose.

The penalty system has been an enormous overall positive in the dailies. You get actual racing now; clean overtakes are essential and massive sends will almost certainly result in a penalty, as they should. We focus on when it goes wrong as it’s so frustrating but think of all the crashing and dirty driving that doesn’t occur because of it.

Agree that the dismissal of the statistics is a really big shame. Not seeing fasted lap times and result sper circuit, number of 5th places and the percentages in daily races and world is a big let down for me. Fail to understand why PD did not include it in the game as it was already in GTS. It also makes it difficult to see your progress. As a statistics nut it saddens me. I hope they will include it in a future update but to be honest i don't think they will as so much data is already wasted.

same with no brake balance, no option to check your sector times of your fastest lap. It is just lazy engineering by PD. what a shame.

So can understand your rant....

I'll have to adjust my approach for sure then. I'll give even more space in the braking zones. I guess it's difficult when you've got a late-braking car and the guy in front slams the anchors on about 30m before you would and catches you out.

Lesson learnt!

I complained about this exact thing but now try and coast in a bit more if following closely. Sometimes you just get stitched up through no fault of your own. But I’m looking at my mirrors and seeing people back out of diving in and think to myself that if there were no penalties I’d be sideways so try and appreciate what it stops from happening rather than how it deals with things that do happen, if that makes sense. We’re so used to door banging and contact that we forget that real world any contact often ends a race.

Dumb question: What does "top split" mean exactly? Obviously it has to do with the quality of the drivers. But, what is the cutoff? Are you top split once you hit A+?

"I was in a top split race yesterday." What does that mean?
