Can anyone shed some light in what it means when you're seeing a fair few A+ guys in your races as an A/S? Am I close to A+ or is it more there isn't many A drivers racing?

My GTWS results would yield 181pts for a win so i'm not exactly Top A split yet, am I?

Most probably a mixture of both.
Don’t worry to much about about it, just race 😉

I have a feeling there’s not too many A+ racing in the dailies. Yet anyway. Protecting their DR and only qualifying to find out where their pace is in GT7 as opposed to GTS and potentially only doing GT World Series right now.

I came in with 86,000 DR (A+ starts at 50,000, assuming the system is unchanged, though they did unfortunately opt to hide everything for some reason) carried over from GT Sport and have only met a handful of A+ spread out over sveral races, mostly filled up by A. So, yeah. Clear sign to me they just aren’t participating in the same frequency.

Edit: As mentioned by @Redneckchef below, the splitting between consoles is one thing to consider in this discussion as well. I forgot about that.

Good gracious. Ran a few race A in Asia. First couple were ok. Starting from the back as I didn't have time to set a qualifying lap. They were ok as far as it goes. A bit sketchy navigating slower cars cleanly, but had some good racing.

Then I set a qualifying time and it seemed like the goal changed to "win the race on turn 1." Got blasted several times in several races. People taking it 3 or 4 wide in the infield section. One guy tried to send it 3 wide through the Schmacher Ess. It was utter carnage. Still managed to navigate my way back to p2 or 3 most races. Absolute carnage every time. Still a fun couple of cars to drive. Shame about the drivers in them.

And this was the lobby at a popular time on the PS4 grid. Console splitting is devastating some combos.

I’m A+ in Asia. In Sport I was generally in lobbies that were half A+, half A. Now I am often running in lobbies with 1 or 2 A+ and several B as well. There are clearly a reduced number of high rated drivers in PS4 splits.

Did some quali laps for Daily C. Got my best lap with the Aston DBR9. Did on race and started P6 I think it was. There were some A+ rated drivers in last positions with no quali times. Unfortunately, on lap 2 I barely touched the guy in front of me going into that tight right with the double apex towards the end of the lap and got a 2.0 sec penalty. So it is.

This put me back with some of the A+ guys. Eventually got a light bump from one going through one of the long lefts and I lost the car. He was really close and I don't think he expected me to lift at that point as I was trying to get some weight on the front of the car. I remembered his name and have raced with him before; was/is a very clean driver. He apologized after the race, which was nice. All is forgiven, no big deal.

Ended up in P10 as I got by someone on the very last turn. That is all I had time for yesterday.

don’t enjoy the Atenza or WRX so I would’ve skipped Race B this week. Just got to A and driving a car I don’t enjoy and finishing 12th stinks. BUT then I saw a couple comments about the 155 being decent in Race B… set a lap about as good as I could get it (2:03), and jumped into an A/B race.

Started 9th, finished 4th! I know in a full A room I would’ve been a cone on the straights, but it was fun knifing through the corners while the GTRs were taking them like boats

Yeah, I fully agree.
In GTWS races I'm not top split but can't be that far off, as I've seen others I've raced in those races being in top split races before or after.

In dailies I think I'm top split and there are not that many A+ drivers around. Console split surely doesn't help.

Several of the daily races have been hanging at start today. The current race is 4 minutes and counting. I thought PD would have fixed this by now…

Not even any way to quit unless you close GT7. Pathetic.

Edit: 8 minutes, no start.

Top half is enough for me until the SR is back to S. And this works really good until now.
Just curious. What are you going to do when it does get back to S? Re-enter “Rage” mode?

There are already far, far too many folk that drive in that mode. May be better if you continued with “Sensible” mode.

Did a little time trial tonight to improve my Race C quali time. Previous best was a 2:18.6 in the Beetle and that felt like it was a fluke as I never really got close to that again yesterday.

Tonight I decided to try the Supra and within a few laps did a 2:18.4. Felt like there was more there and while it's really nice rolling on the power it suffers from quite a bit of understeer.

Then decided to hop in the Genesis. It felt quite nervous after driving the Supra but once I got the hang of it I knocked out a 2:18.2 then out of nowhere on a lap that didn't feel all that great I hit a 2:17.7 followed by a .5 then a .4. Definitely a high 2:16 there. The genesis is really nice on the brakes and rotates really well.
Yeah the Genesis felt like it had a lap in it but I just couldn't cobble it together. I am very tentative on the throttle with no TC and TC1 just eats time so I am losing out a lot on slower corner exit and this car is quite twitchy..... feels a bit similar to the M3, give it a go.
I’m on a pad and find I always need TC1. Last week at Interlagos I did 134.4 quail with the Jaguar and couldn’t better it, even trying different cars. Could consistently knock out 1.34.x but no faster. Tried TC off and even with gentle throttle application it would catch me out and would end up slower.
I use the X button and D-pad fer crying out loud so definitely need TC1. It's just such a sledgehammer in this game vs GTS, I have NO IDEA what TC2 through TC5 is for because TC1 is extremely aggressive. I can run the 911, McLaren and BRZ without TC but I did lose it in a race yesterday with the McLaren. With other cars I am toggling TC0 and TC1 depending on the corner.

They've done an incredible job with Kyoto, it really does look stunning at times, looking out over what seems like a rainforest that stretches forever and the changes in lighting make it feel so much less stagnant and dull. I enjoyed the GTWS race there a while back that finished at night with all the signs lit up in neon as well. The time spent on this one really paid off if you're paying attention.

So what's the deal with all the Vw bug top score being cheats
If you watch their replays you'll see them rail the kerbs like a train track. If you look closely at the kerb you'll see a ridge between the grass and the kerb and it literally allows you to hold the sweepers flat if you get it right. Hopefully it gets fixed at some point.

Hopped on for a couple races this morning and right away something was off. Couldn't get back to the 17's on Kyoto. Ended up winning the race but I was like dang something is off with the Genesis, it's not the same car I drove last night. Well my dumb ass chose the Genesis X Gr3 car instead of the regular Gr. 3 Genesis. Lol It worked though I guess.

Got on the podium today in C. Likely will be all I can hope for as Kyoto and I don't get along great. I like the track, but have a real hard time with a couple of the turns that I know I am losing tenths easy; especially that last little S turn towards the end. Every time I take that I feel like I FUBAR it, even if I gain time.

Ah well, I'll take it for now...

Think I’m going to have to take the plunge and try race C. Race B is just a bust for me this week. Great track but Gr4 cars are lost there on a pad - they’re all grip and no power, plus being BOPped to death on such a power circuit means it’s impossible for me to make up time. I did 2.03.2 in the Atenza and can’t beat it, even with my favourite chronically underpowered Swift (I did a 2.03.3 in that).

I finally took the plunge and entered my first ever online GT race - Daily B. I grinded the qualifying until I was relatively happy - 1:59.7xx in the GTR. I did three races and my race pace is roughly 1.5 seconds slower than qualifying because I'm so worried about making a massive mistake and bottling the race.

How long does it take for your DR and SR to change? Is there anything I can do to speed this up?

I'm still new to online racing in GT7 but depends on your results how quickly you move up. I only started online about 3 to 4 weeks ago. I've been doing 6 to 8 races a week. Little more or less depending on how much time I have. I've been at B for about the last 2 weeks if that gives you some idea.

Is this not roughly normal? Simulated fuel loads in a race is way higher than in quali, so you lose a lot of time based on your car being heavier.

Race pace - that’s about right. In qualifying mode you don’t have tyre wear or fuel on the car. So your basically running the car optimal set up. When you race the car then becomes more real and you have extra weight for the fuel and tyres have wear and temperature changes.

DR/SR - i don’t think they is a quick method to jumping the leagues. Just make sure you drive cleanly & consistently and avoid penalties if you can. Also don’t rage quit as you lose points from doing this. In the long races you can still recover and get decent results. Spend some time in free practice learning the track and also Improving your quali time. Within a week of playing online I was up to C/S and doing about 5/6 races a day.

Yeah I agree, I find it's one of the most aesthetically pleasing tracks in the game. Not to mention it's one of the more technical tracks with 'almost' every kind of corner you can think of. It's even more awesome at twilight in the custom races.

Yeah they are strict about that stuff and sometimes other people do it and don't get the penalty, they confuse the system.

Man I love the Alfa 155, my new favourite Gr4 car. 3 races its taken me to win race B after struggling so far.
My new favorite Gr4 car too.
Although GTR is truly better and easier to drive, to drive a real existed car makes me more excited.
And It looks so beautiful.

I got two accounts, the first one I raced 37 times and now DR.B, meanwhile I was nervous at first, got spined a lot and raged quit for sometime, so I think it will take way less than 30 races to get to DR.B.
Second account I raced 7 times and now is DR.C.

Finally Bought the Alfa 155 last night. Within 2 qualify laps I managed a 2:02.8 up from 2:05.4 with the porsche Caymen. It's got better acceleration, can get on the power sooner coming out of the corners. The race I did last night it was full of GTR's, Alfa's & a Genesis. Had a nice clean race with a guy swapping places back and forth, wasn't full of rammers which is rare. Think there is more time to be gained in the car.

The thing with tracks like these, isn't exclusively top end speed per say. But the corner exit speeds. Power doesn't change depending on your input. (Greatly over simplified I know)

Worth working on your lines through the corners and you'd be surprised how much time you can find. The whole 'slow in, fast out' cliche.

Am enjoying the healthy mix of cars in Race B. There were a lot of WRX at the start of the week, then the GTR clearly became the car to beat, but there are also other cars in the mix quite often, such as the Alfa or F-Type as well as the usual Atenza showing.
