I initially wrote a reply to disagree, but watching it more I think you're on point. The Silvia took a late apex, which he has a right to do, and @Devdude had his nose in there. It would have been prudent for @Devdude to back off a little in the interest of his own self-preservation. Better to live to fight another corner than to spin off.
I think yall are right and i prob could hv taken a lil speed away but while driving it looked like he came all way over back to driving line to keep me from a pass, had i realized sooner that he was going to do that, i prob would have took foot off pedal for lil

Guys, I have a question and I hope it isn't considered too dumb.

I was watching a bit of Z28's stream and there was an instance in which him and someone else were side by side on a straight. The inside guy hugged the inside line and Z boxed him in. When approaching the braking zone, he stayed there, boxing him in. There was some slight contact because the guy on the inside wrongly anticipated that Z was going to have gone wide by that point.

My question is, what is the purpose to not go to the very outside in the braking zone? Won't boxing him in and staying right next to him not slow him down a bit?

He's probably trying to make the guy as uncomfortable as possible by making him enter the turn on a super weird (and slower) line.
Yep, this right here... nothing wrong with what Z did. You want to go super inside to protect? Ok, then I'm going to park my car right next to you and keep you there.

I did this very same thing on the Daily B a few weeks back when it was Gr4 cars at Trial Mountain. Started on pole but lost P1 pretty quick. Guy who was leading, on both straights, would immediately dive to the left/inside of the track and just hold there... like right against the wall, regardless where I was. My thinking was, if you want to protect the super inside that much you can have it and both times I had a run I would just drive right next to him, right off his passenger side door.

As we were getting close to the braking zone he started trying to push me to the outside. The first time, on lap one I gave in and went to the outside giving him some room to do the same & he kept the lead. The second time was on the front straight going into the last lap. I got a much better run off the chicane than him and he stuck to the wall. So I got beside him and stuck to him. Despite him trying to push me over, this time I didn't bite (it was now the last lap after all). At the very last second I cut it right so I could take the racing line and he, well...... like Dose555 said, was bluffing as he didn't really know how to take that turn on the inside he was trying so hard to protect and binned it hard as I went driving by.

Was my first win as an A rated driver so I'll not forget that one.:D

Cool, I get it now. To be clear, I didn't think what he was doing was wrong by any means; I just didn't understand why. Not something I've noticed done on TV or in game before.

Two races for me tonight at the RBR. I didn’t improve my qualifying time at all during my pre-race practice. I do need to find a few tenths of a second somewhere.

Race 1 I start in P8, and nothing really happened in the race. The only thing I was having trouble with was that I was getting on the throttle too early and making me have some big wiggles that let other drivers catch up and pass me. What positions I gained I lost because of that and fell back to P8. The race became a situation where I was not fast enough to catch P6 and P7 but still faster than P9 behind me. Eventually P8 gets an off-track penalty and I had caught up enough to take advantage. I finish in P7, but not before I look up at the time differential to P8 and catch enough of the grass coming out of the final turn and spin out. Oops…

Race 2 I’m in P9 to start and I find myself in P4 just out of the reach of the leaders thanks to drivers going off track and a bunch of penalties. Unfortunately, I run just a bit too wide coming out of turn 4 and go into the gravel. I have the presence of mind to slow down immediately to avoid a spin and fall to P5. Which is where I finish. P2-P4 were having a nice battle from what I briefly saw. One driver made a great pass on me with zero contact going into turn 7. I left the door wide open apparently and took my spot. I wasn’t even mad after I realized what happened.

Another good set of races at RBR for me. It’s one of my favorite tracks to drive and I look forward to more racing tomorrow.

It's a corner/car dependent thing. For some corners, the difference between taking it from the extreme outside of the track and the middle of the track is small, but the difference between taking it from the middle and the extreme inside is huge. This is particularly true where the track is relatively narrow on exit. On these corners, if you can hold someone narrow on entry, you will be quicker out, even if you miss the apex because they have to wait so long to get on the throttle. This week RBR has several turns where you can get a superior run around the outside if you hold the other car narrow. But beware, it's super dangerous if you don't know the other driver well.

For sure, I wasn't implying you were blaming him or anything. And honestly, since that one instance I had, I've not seen someone really hug the inside like that while on a straight well before the turn. If I do and I get a run, I'm gonna squeeze them again!

I had some of Z's stream on earlier as well but couldn't watch for long. Planning on having the replay on in the background while I work tomorrow so I'll keep an eye/ear out for the instance you described.

I've been in a few races with him, during a couple of his streams (just happened to be online at the same time which makes sense as we're both in the States and in the same time zone), and he is wicked fast. Even managed to finish ahead of him at Monza a couple weeks ago, mainly because he was using beta cars for the lols plus the fact he got PIT maneuvered at he first chicane. And even though the screenshot below may look it, it was NOT by me. He was pulling back onto the track as I went by.

ETA - Just to prove my innocence, you can see it here:

Really sucks because that was a fantastic race for me. I was doing really well and got destroyed going into T1 on lap two and dropped back to almost last. Made up a bunch of places and all. I think I started in P7, was up to P5 by lap two, got YEETed back to P13 and ended up back in P6; the guy who was right in front of me when I got smashed won the race. That one had a lot of potential but... yea....

EETA - I finished ahead of another YT'er that was in the stream, that PX7 Groovestreet, by .003"! You can see my red Mustang here in his mirrors as on the last lap he got a bad run through Ascari, then went a bit wide in Parabolica. You can hear him say he thought I was going to dive bomb him, which I didn't... and it was a drag race to the finish. .003"!

Video from Race B this morning pretty boring race but it has a bit of what we were talking about earlier. I back out of a possible pass after getting a run, avoid a guy who nearly t-bones me in the hairpin, and the guy I backed out of a pass on eventually cracks.

Nice run... my tip... don't use TCS with the 4x4, that will probably give you a few tenths.

Huh?? I don't run TCS ever. I didn't even realize until you noticed it was on. I must've turned it on by accident or I seem to remember a glitch where it ticks on by itself but I've never paid attention to it. I'll have to start checking pre race now I guess. Glad you noticed it cause I probably never would have. 🤘🤘

There’s a glitch that keeps setting it to 3 so have to check every race

Btw I know it sounds very much like I'm a beginner.. but at the moment I'm very happy and quite good with the countersteering assistant... the biggest advantage.. since then nobody has been able to turn my car with "normal" jostling or shoving me on the gas so that I lose control of my car.... So if you're more likely to be driving in tough races... activate it, it doesn't cost you any engine power... sometimes it even improves grip in corners or on the Exit... OK, if you're racing at the level of the aliens, it will probably take some time... but for everyone else, it will certainly benefit... at least in the race.

It doea still glitch, i have to check it every race because it will put me back to tc3 even though i have it set for tc1 on this car, it has done it every other race for past week

I can confirm that the Jag is very good at RBR. Just won in it with a sub 18 minute race time, which is as quick or quicker than I have gone in anything else.
No idea how you deal with the rear end, for me it breaks loose way too easy from mid race onwards.

The consistency of drivers in Race C is remarkable, i can keep up mid pack but any tiny error and you lose spots. I tend to gain spots by picking through the carnage, there's a fast player with a name of "QualifyLOL" who always starts last and works his way up. He is cleanish but does squeeze people, I let him through as he is a solid second a lap faster than me, then I tail him and make hay as others fight him.

It likes a lot of early partial throttle to keep it planted.

Had good couple races this morning in Race B. First race followed the leader the whole race......and make a hard move on the brakes on the final lap to take the win. 2nd race I had a nearly 5 sec lead before blowing it in the chicane but managed to hang on for the win. That was good enough to get me to A rating for the first timer. Still processing so the vid quality will be low for a little while. And if anyone knows can you tell me why the thumbnail might not be showing up?

I've had several races with him and he's been very clean in my experience. But I do feel a pang of sympathy when I let people like that by because they probably want to actually race with someone.

I would normally agree but i did see him yesterday crowd folks on the straights. So he would pull alongside then sneakily push folks to a super tight line, some retaliated and it caused the bedlam I took advantage of. As soon as i see him coming I just hld a line, i don't move over, and executes a clean pass as I don't give him headaches, others think he is just a regular guy not someone running a second a lap faster than the field.

Not too proud but everyone has his limits. Race 1 started 4th but between getting shoved and punted, finished 10th and still lost my clean bonus since I was slammed into the barrier.

2nd race decided to take a stand. Half the lobby was new players but the 4 or 5 dirty ones where still there. Started 10th and finished 8th. I didn't stoop down to their level and purposefully punt anyone but instead, I chose to not yield when they attempted to be dirty again. Seeing them fly off to shadow realm was funny and satisfying 😂

But now I'm exhausted.... just drove race B for almost 6 hours almost without interruptions... I see the chance/possibility to get my 2nd driver on A as well... And it worked.. Many races were very nice and clean... a few were hard and exciting and very few were downright nasty... But I managed to stay focused and cool... midway through I increased my Q time there from 1.42.494 to 1.41,9xx Being able to push .... Which of course gave me a very good starting position for the last laps before reaching the A. Back on my main driver praying the A races.. oh you really close and very different races there... I was able to hold up quite well.. even made up places in the first races, but who is too "soft" to "careful". , is totally lost there at the moment. The last few days, where I took myself back and concentrated on achieving the most positive results possible, really helped me. My defensive skills have improved a lot and there has also been some very positive news about it being really hard to get past me. I'm very happy about that... it wasn't like that for a long time and would have overwhelmed me.

I thank every driver who has been in my races for these experiences.

However, my last race showed me... that it was probably enough for today. Despite all the adversities and although I could only play with a controller... I had very nice days.
And I think that's worth mentioning.

Greetings Maxi

I started directly behind you in one of your races this afternoon, closed in on you, and managed to get past when you had a moment at the final chicane 🙂

We then caught up with two Brits, both in yellow WRXs, having a bit of a dirty time of it, one of them got rammed off, hit me on his way into the wall, and I got a 5 second penalty ☹️

Oh really? Which driver were you? In which race.. I hope I rode decently enough.

I was bone_tone - you drove very cleanly, but you did have a few wobbly moments! It may have been one of two races this afternoon in which the dirtiest driver in GT7 made an appearance! First time I've had the pleasure (?) of meeting him

In one of the races he got forced into the pits by somebody he'd obviously upset earlier..... 🤣

You finished 3rd, and I finished last.

In my experience (only B level) Daily Race B in three days has turned from a nice competitive event into destruction derby.

I agree.

Did they also make some changes in this weeks update which helped change the META from the WRX to the Audi TT? It has been dominating the races today!

Ohhh I'll have a look at my races from today that I saved later.. I'm curious which race it was...

Yes indeed the TT has been a serious opponent since yesterday... I'm curious if it affects other cars too... I've tested the Jaguar and it doesn't seem to be bad either... low/mid 42 it can Definitely Jag.

Maybe PD should turn the penalties up a notch again. Many drivers rely heavily on the T-Bone overtake method.

Thanks for the tip though. I'll try the Audi... :)
