I think the player population is pretty low in our region. Frequently I see lobbies with DR A-C and SR S-C in them. And, a lot of the same names over and over.

Do you play on a PS5? Then that's normal. Because on the PS4, the lobbies are usually very even/similarly good.

As far as I know, PD has now introduced 2 new brake pedals...
Both work redundantly, so using one is enough.

Pedal 1 = the driver's door of the vehicle in front
Pedal 2 = the passenger's door of the vehicle in front.

Apparently they work very well for some.

Hahaha I experienced the same thing today. Driver behind just completely used my car as a brake with zero penalty. I lost a few positions due to it. Paid the favour back to them though on the last corner to gain an extra spot.
PD only needed to tone down the penalty system a little bit not switch it off.

I really like Trial Mountain reverse this week (Race B) but the penalty system needs to be reverted back to pre 1.15..

It sucked if an accidental tap gave you a penalty before but it made you more careful. Now people just shove you off knowing there is no consequence, which is much worse!

This is how I felt at Daytona two weeks ago. I couldn't believe how much success I had there in the 787B, kinda out of nowhere. Really made the game fun again.

You've motivated me to give C a go this week. How is the Jag on tires late in the race? Are you on fuel mix 1 and short shifting or are you adjusting the fuel mix + short shifting? What is your DR (just asking this for an apples to apples comparison).

Tyres are pretty worn by the end but I find them manageable. Just gotta keep everything smooth.

No fuel mapping, shift just after the red bar appears.

I’m low A+, maybe 60k DR?

Race B is borderline pointless. Got deliberately rammed and punted more times than I can count before just giving up after 2 laps
Yes, true.

I just had the most annoying day of daily races ever today. Fairly good qualification time, unexpectedly, so I started most races from a top 3 position, sometimes pole, beginning in B-S splits. Surprisingly at first I had a lot of good results, came very close to an A DR (which honestly I wouldn't deserve to achieve, because my racing pace is bad, too many mistakes) But: Alfa Drivers. I bounced up and down between S and A SR seven times, mostly because of incidents with them that I mostly tried to avoid. Always got back up to S with some CRBs in races where I didn't try as hard to be competitive, only to get into the next race with some wild Alfa drivers. It feels like 90% of them think the only way to overtake is by using the built-in divebomb feature, or alternatively push someone into the walls on the straights. Some of them also don't seem to understand the concept of letting space. Several times I left a lot of room to let someone pass cleanly who had a run on me, but they punted me for the overtake anyways. Of course none of them ever got a penalty for these incidents. It cost me a lot of positions, and obviously my SR rating. And the last 5 races back down in the BA races (with some BB drivers), I couldn't finish even one of them in the top ten positions, because I got rammed into a wall every single time. Until I called it quits.

Okay enough with this rant, I don't want to annoy anybody. Obviously, concerning driver and "sportsmanship" ratings, I'm now back where I belong. But if PD doesn't bring back at least some kind of halfway appropriate penalty system, Daily Race B is dead. Killed by Alfa.

Oh, and by one Aston, as I faintly remember. Managed to bomb me into the wall at the end of the back straight from an almost one second gap behind me. And of course drove along without penalty while seven or eight other cars passed my smoking wreck.

I had time last night for one decent session at Race C before I set off on holiday this morning.
Having set my quali with the Corvette, and breaking my 2.00 wall for the first time at Suzuka (squeezing out roughly a 59.7xx).
Good enough for a paltry 13th starting position on the grid, ready for an alternative approach to this race by using the Porsche on a one-stop and hoping to slide up the pack quietly.
I may have finally been sold on the German motor, the confidence it brings under acceleration coupled with some attentive braking input meant I was mostly lapping 2.01s without killing the tyres. Ended up in 5th without performing anything spectacular!
I would say it's a shame I have to go away this week, but something tells me the Group 3/Suzuka marriage will come around again very soon.

Did two Daily Cs today and it did not go well. My quali before the first wasn't great (2:00.3 in the Jag)... this track and I don't get along. Started like 12th.

First race got rear ended going into the final chicane and stuck against the tire wall. Lost almost 20 seconds to that and finished last.
Second race was in the Jag just going flat out with a one stop. Started towards the back again and finished toward the back. Did I mention this track and I don't get along?

I think I might create a second account just so I can mess around. Don't want to have to do all those cafe menus again just to unlock Sport mode, though. Trying to stay interested in the game.

Nvm it struggles in race. Too thirsty.
That's unfortunate, I like driving the Vantage. I did figure out the Jag and now have a 2:00.7XX with a 2:00.3XX optimal. Now I'm having troubles with R130. I'm running wide more than I would like to. But, I won't be pushing as hard during the race so don't think it will be a problem. It's also cool I can just short shift and be good with fuel. Thanks for the car suggestion and strategy.

At 130R if you lift on turn in at the 50 board and then accelerate at the apex, the car will grip enough to stop from running wide.

100% much preferred it on dragon trails and before the other week.

I'm more cautious than aggressive, so may be more annoying for assertive, but fair drivers?

Like you say, at least before the more sensitive system would likely cause drivers with half a brain to adjust their style, now people can just fly in with little concern as no repercussions. Just encourages lazy/bad habits. Particularly if developed during single player: dive bombing, using ai cars as buffers rather than learning proper braking/throttle control.

So, I've been on this screen long enough to take a picture and type this plus about 4 minutes. This is my first ATTEMPT at a Weekly Race since the first two after it changed and given if I get to race I'm up against the pole being 2.8 seconds faster than me and third being 1.1 seconds slower, I think I'm done for the week.

For races that don't effect DR and SR the field should be the 12 closest qualifying times to each other, although it doesn't really matter given that the race apparently went even start.

That’s their problem. I bet you’re not cautious just driving properly. If there’s risk of contact then don’t go for an overtake but unfortunately nearly everyone has no issue with slamming into the side of someone or running them into the wall.
This happens a lot. If you are patient and not try to squeeze through the tiniest gap when somebody made a mistake, seconds later you are surrounded by a bunch of drivers with, let's say, a different driving style, and carnage ensues.

Race C. Are PD adjusting the BoP for each individual race now? I just nice to see this week at least a mixture of car been talk about here and also seeing it on track too. Still had a fair few WRXs on the grid in my race but I had a Corvette, few M6, AMG, Beetle and then a few BRZs.
Is BoP adjusted for each individual race? Or is it a set value that doesn’t change race to race? Gr4 races still seem to be dominated by 4wd cars with maybe a few others you can use. Where as Gr3 seems to be a bit more open with 5/6 cars been competitive.

I think the most recent BoP update made group 3 much more even. Then when you add tyre and fuel management it makes a new group of cars competitive.

I’m starting to see RC-Fs and Genesis at the front of races now. The RC-F is the only thing that has challenged my Jag so far.

I know that I complain about a race that I wasn't doing at all before the format change, but I think the current state of things is, well...

The ghosting and penalties being as Inconsistent as ever doesn't serve this format well and while the chaos can be fun to me for about 10 races max, it gets really annoying.

Yes you're right, I encountered that a lot last week. Say you have to slow on first chicane on kyototo losing momentum , rather than go through side by side, the pack catches for the next left hander, then chicane and final right turn... where odds of contact with chasing pack vastly increase.

You can get to sport mode pretty quick by buying the required cars in the cafe menu. Do a couple of the circuit experience to get the cash fast.
I think you only have to get to cafe book 9. 🍻

No kidding, the matchmaking system is a complete joke. Ran the A race this morning, and this is the field. 5+ seconds to the p2 car. This has happened repeatedly for this week’s race A. I mean, the stress free races are nice, but I’d prefer some competition.

Hehehe... I feel your pain.

Bored with the SP, trying to stay interested, I chose yesterday morning to do a few Sports races and start working towards that 50-race trophy. Ten per cent of the way there, but what an absolute ****show.

Went for race B, Trial Mtn, rented (whatever that means, does it subtract a few credits?) the gr4 GTR, not got it in the main game yet. Straight in, a few mins for pre-race qualifying, do two laps, best time 2.03, find I’m starting P3, some people five or six seconds slower. Hmm. Then we start, and...four laps of the worst driving, the worst carnage I’ve EVER experienced. I did 400-odd races in GTS to reach the 91 win achievement/trophy thing. Thank god the trophy gets triggered just for participating this time.

Did five races back-to-back. It didn’t get better. By the end I’d gone from (high) B DR (in GTS I’d generally bounce between B and A) and S SR (almost constantly in GTS) down to(low) B and B. Got bashed and smashed all over, only hit one opponent (sorry, bigmick , if you’re a reader here) and that was because I was punted into him. I swear I was getting penalties for being hit off track. And now I just don’t give a ****. Gonna do the 50 and walk away from this freak show unless things improve massively. PD has outdone itself. After the lacklustre SP experience I doubted online could be worse, but PD, you’ve done it, you’ve absolutely trashed whatever you had going in GTS, which wasn’t perfect, but it was streets ahead of whatever you think you’re doing here.

Did I even mention the lagging, certain opponents jumping all over the place, suddenly reappearing next to me out of nowhere? And the UI. Just,..no. A massive leap backwards.

Mea culpa. To be fair, race number five was totally my fault, was racing in second, chasing the leader, coming onto main straight to start final lap, when my TV switched channel for The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes on ITV4 - I had an auto-reminder set. By the time I’d found the remote and switched back I was in the pits. So I watched Sherlock instead.

Edit: since GTS I’ve switched from hood cam to cockpit, for immersion, and I feel it really makes a difference in this close-quarters, argy-bargy environment, probably losing me a lot of time. I’m a pad player too. I assume the fast drivers use hood cam mostly, am I right? I’m loathe to switch back, but might have to to get through this remaining 45 race ordeal...

I feel like this is partly due to many people like myself actually finding it more stressful. I don't care about dr/sr, i really don't, but i am not even gonna bother with a race that is a demolition derby. I have other games for that. If i only have time for one or two races, having them ruined by people who think they are playing wreckfest, is not fun in the slightest. I just want clean and fair competition. No chance of that now with PD actively promoting contact.

I have no idea how they thought no ratings races whould be anything but a disaster
