Finding it difficult as well, always have though, I am enjoying driving it more than I used to at least even if it is running bottom half.

Not had too much trouble with the driving standards other than people turning in blindly with a car alongside that I'm just getting used to now, to be honest.

Race A though has been Wreckfest in the few runs I've tried. Way too many divebombs into the right hander up the mountain and then on the way down where there really isn't space for it. Could kindly put it down to it being a difficult drive but some of them have been just blatant hit and runs.
Most of my issues have been self inflicted. I wouldn’t say they have been dirty drivers in my lobbies but it’s more down to they need to understand when and where to stick a nose in and if they gone off the track to realise the car handles different for a few corners.

Daily race C really does make you appreciate how good the BTCC drivers are - they spend most of the race pretty much touching nose-to-tail yet are absolutely blasting round and getting loads of over-takes in. They used to do a LOT of push-passes but they seem to have toned that down nowadays...
BTCC is great fun. Like you say they run bumper to bumper in a 4/5/6 car train and somehow all still manage to complete a lap with no damage or punting each other off.
Plato and Neal always had some great fights which nearly always ended up with a push to pass.

@Fezzik this has to be the best BTCC clip ever

Thart run from Westfield through Dingle Dell to Sheene is my prime overtaking spot. People run wide to the kerb and I can stay tight, get the power down and be alongside before the braking zone.

That's where you would get me too, probably. Easy to mess up that section, I do so all the time. At least when I haven't gone wide already the corner before.😬

You'd be fine - against any decent opposition I'm nowhere close enough at that point to make a move. Too cautious through Paddock Hill, not using all the kerb on Graham Hill, consistently wrong line through Surtees. I can make up some time in the 2nd half, but losing so much at the beginning. My quali times are pretty subpar (and this is one of my good tracks).

In Surtees I just wing it. I don't have the slighest idea where to brake or what line to drive. Whenever I get it right, I just can't remember how I did it when I arrive there next lap.🤪

yes

I don't think we'll ever agree on this one, that's fine.

I tend to agree with both of you. Both fantastic racing series, super competitive and entertaining. And homes of the dreaded red Alfa, of course.🤣

Anybody here old enough to remember the racing game TOCA featuring british touring car racing (somewhere mid-90s on PS1, i think)?

Yeah I used to play that - if I remember correctly you could put a cheat in & get a tank?
We need tanks in GT7, only way to avoid getting punted in some races!

If I remember correctly, it was quite difficult (not to spin the car), and it had a surprisingly good AI. Even other cars coming after me to retaliate when I had punted them. And I loved the tracks. Snetterton, Knockhill, Oulton Park... Would love to see some of them in GT7.

Getting back to the actual dailies, it may just be me but I'm feeling much more of a difference this week between the mediums and hards. A lot less grip on the RHs. It's putting me off driving some cars because they use up too much fuel and I'd need to do more laps on the bad tyres.
In single player I use hards most of the time in the race car (eg WTC) events and lap times/grip are much closer to the other compounds.
Perhaps it's just a Brands phenomenon.

Tried the McLaren at Bathurst, feels fantastic across the top, great turn in. Managed a 2.04.7. Jumped in the Z4 and BANG, 2.03.7.

Supra did a 2.04 flat. Cannot use anything else as I can't trust the rears on exit and TC is ridiculous.

Northern Isle the week after?

Oh hell yes. What a game!
still waiting for Codemasters to recapture that vibe again
Hahahaha, you'll be waitin for a loooong time for that. Nowadays its flashy liveries, 20 meter exhaust flames, ****** music and dlc.

Just for the heck of it:

This was quite special: Roadbumps, clean racing, cockpit view..

I like the "Ecoboost" decal on the windshield. 🤣
Ha!

Back in 95, just before Super Tourers tried to take over Australian touring car racing, I went to the Bathurst 1000 which was mixed class. 2 BMW's ran nose to tail for nigh on 7 hours, on paper it was great racing but man they were anemic. A 5 litre V8 blasting out of Hell Corner, up mountain straight, just a totally visceral experience.

@NevilleNobody

I'll never forget my first VLN race at the Nurb. Foggy weather, I was sitting in the stands right at T1, couldn't see more than 100 meters up the main straight. When the race started, I heard a roaring sound, which got louder and louder, and all of a sudden the first 30 cars, three or four wide all over the track, appeared thundering at full speed out of the mist, with two big Bentleys leading the pack. It was mindblowing.
