My main problem with race A is the tyres, they must be the cheapest, hardest tyres they could find - it's like driving on soap!

I've done plenty of "spirited" driving in IRL road cars and none of them have handled the way do in GT7.

On the whole no Dr/sr point, I don't know. I get why they bought it in & people were asking for it but it just feels like a waste of time if you're not getting anything out of it. I suppose it's ok if you've only got 15mins at lunch time and want a quick blast.

PD has completely ruined race A.

I was a big race A fanatic in GT Sport. I really like driving street cars. It was always really fun and competitive. Now, nobody really wants to do it.
The familiar faces are few and far between. Even a BenRod sighting is rare, nowadays. :(
It's not uncommon to see C/B, or D/C drivers in the top-split race.

The no-rating aspect of it is undoubtedly a big factor. I suppose some people don't like that everyone is free to hit them with no consequences (no SR points), and some don't like that their achievements go ignored (no DR points).
Honestly, I get no joy from starting at the back, getting to P1 on the first lap, and winning by 10+ seconds. Truly, it does nothing for me. I want some battles, but the people who are good, are apparently uninterested. I get it.

Either way, they have alienated a large group of customers.
If anything, folks were hoping for a 4th daily race, but now there's really just two. Someone messed up, badly.

Better fix it soon. I can already see the customer base dwindling. The people who do daily races are the core customers. They are feeling disappointed.

It really does bum me out. :indiff:
Agree entirely with this.

This race isn’t tuning. To me it just seems an exercise in adding various enhancements to a vehicle and then doing some +/- to a lot of numbers in order to find the “golden” number that PD has hidden.

It clearly takes a certain mentality to persist in that endeavour. Whilst PD have given folks the opportunity to follow this route, I’m not sure that Daily Race A is the place for it to be demonstrated.

As it stands, I only have a choice of 2 daily races. I think that the tried & tested Daily race A should be reinstated. If PD want to persist with ”tuning” races, then they could perhaps be located via the Auto parts shop or simply as Race D.

If PD maintain Race A as it is, could I suggest that someone start a “Daily Race A“ thread in the Tuning section due to its specialist nature. Hopefully that would enable this thread to return to its more familiar content.

There is a GTPlanet tag already established although I rarely, if ever, see it outside of WRS, GTP_ before your name. I've had it on my PSN since GT5.

PS> In the "old" days the GTP tag was required to participate in WRS... I think because there were TT competitions with other "discussion boards"... don't know the exact history because even I'm not that old [for GT that is, I'm that old in RL]. lol.
I know people put there eSports team initials before the name these days, what about we do it after your name? So mine want be 'B.Lee_GTP'
It would be different to the TT community but still signal you are still part of the gt planet community.

I'm not sure what else you're supposed to do to the car though. We can't use OMI temps, adjust brake ducts or select tire pressures. There's no telemetry to see how the dampers are working or see how low the car is getting - we don't even know the wheel speeds. Unless you have absolutely perfected modelling the game's physics, there's no way of making a great setup without guessing and checking at some point.

The whole situation with race A reminds me of something I wrote a while back. Because PP isn't capped, the Scirocco can be fast all around without making any sacrifices. If it was limited to common number that every car could reach you'd probably see more variety, even if a meta still remains.

Though honestly, the Integra and Scirocco R would probably still be problematic because of their downforce values. Other FFs only able to run half the downforce is going to immediately take them out of contention, in the same way a Gr.3 is inferior to a Gr.2 at the same PP. Maybe they can get around that by opening up the tire choice while getting rid of the wear and limiting the PP.

After getting slammed into the wall and the dirty driver not getting a penalty only then to have my car be so damaged it's impossible to make the next turn resulting in me getting a track limit penalty, I'm done with GT7 for this week. I was planning to test more cars in races but getting wrecked by slow dirty players in faster cars isn't worth the hassle especially when I already have plenty of content for videos.
For what I did test, the RCZ is slightly the fastest on the straights and handles good but nothing spectacular in low speed acceleration. The DS Playstation 3 controller or whatever handles the best and has decent straight line speed but overall still about 1.5 seconds per lap off the pace. The Renault safety car is all around slightly slower and painting it with a Gran Turismo livery gives certain players P A C E C A R PTSD and they try to wreck it any chance they get. The VW Polo is all around average and predictable. Alfa Romeo Mito needs short shifting to stay in the power which I didn't feel like doing, but it has potential to be between the DS3 and safety car. The old Suzuki Swift and Abarth 500 are way too slow to be worth using competivly but the 500 has a livery like the Briscoe in GTA5 so at least it looks cool while being rammed out of the way by bad players in good cars.

I just had a guy in my Race B who went into the pits at the end of lap 1 and just sorta... stayed there. For the rest of the race.

No, I don't know how either.

I am relatively new to...well, gaming in general. My first dedicated console was an Atari - the second was a PS4 8 months ago solely to play F1 2020. That is 40 years of not gaming.

I am enjoying the **** out of online racing! I went from Night Driver to GT7!!! I am racing Brazilians, Mexicans and Americans from my home.

I can see how tuning could get tiresome. I spent hours yesterday looking for 8 seconds (and found it) through tuning. I don't want to do that every time I have a few hours to race, but for now, it is a challenge and educational. I do wish one could get to car settings while on track, not needing to exit all the way to the lobby just to make a small change. And for me, tuning without access to telemetry is just black magic.

However, as frustrating as it can be, I find it helps if I just kinda look at the scenery every once in a while and realize just how awesome it is to have access to an entire world of racing...from my living room.

Anyone know what next week's dailys are?

I've seen this, too. And I've also done it. Only reason I can think of - and the reason I did it - was because someone had to step away from the game but didn't want to quit out and take that hit on the SR.

I tried 🍻

Great.

If you'd like to try my tuning, here it is:

Don't know if it's any good, though.
Brake bias +2 (rear), btw.

So if you pit without choosing to change tyres or refuel, do you just stay there for the rest of the race?

My guess would be that they maybe got punted out the race or were involved in some accident. Might be that they waited it out so they could save the replay at the end.

This game is incredibly frustrating at times.. Had one guy spin off around 50 meters in front of me and then rejoins track without a care in the world as I'm going through. He hits me just a bit in the rear and I get a 2 second penalty and go from 3rd to 8th... Nice!

Next race i start 5th and the guy in front is lagging like crazy. Impossible to drive or even attempt an overtake as one second he's in front of you then suddenly he goes to china and reappears on track!

This is 2022 and a Triple A game, how can this be acceptable from PD?!

You and me both, brother! This is my first racing game since something I played on Super Nintendo back in 1993 or something. I’m in deep too! I’ve learned a lot so far and have a long way to go, but I have come to understand that the physics in GT7 are a bit baffling at times, and the tuning is full of glitches. But I think Race A the last two weeks is the way to go: HP and weight limits, and everything else is fair game. And when it all gets too frustrating, I also just lean back and enjoy the scenery! And the great folks at GT Planet! Speaking of which…

the Deep Space 3 is in the 1:22s for me, someone can probably get it lower (*especially if you have the special part!) - i'm still figuring out brake balance (+3 currently). figured i'd share since it won a few races today.
You got a lot out of that car when we raced! Good on you! I should have pulled out my RCZ, which has been doing well, but I ran out of time this morning. I kept getting sucked off the track by the stupid grass, losing the lead, reclaiming the lead, and losing the lead again! Surprising amounts of fun!

@sturk0167 I had fun racing near you last night, at least for a bit. Those first few races you saw me were my first ones and I was a bit too polite. But that last one last for me last night was awesome! I kept catching up with you on turn 1 and then losing you the rest of the way. I’m just not quite ready for the prime time A+ lobbies, but I had fun.

These are certainly some of the races of all time. Nice to see some different tracks though. Is this the first GT7 Big Willow?

Race A would be fantastic with DR/SR ffs... but again nobody will bother racing it. I hope they learn the experiment is a failure soon enough. It's not enough to be a replacement for a quick/casual race when its the same for a whole week, and it drives away interest for people who do care when it doesn't count for anything.

Race A, Race C, no thanks. (DT Gardens, meh, reverse bigger meh, GR.4 even bigger meh)

Big Willow is fun, with a working penalty system that is. Not sure if I'll try to race next week, might just leave GT7 off. It's way too easy to put someone in the sand at Big Willow to never see them again.

GT Sport is still on the same races, GT is dying in my mind :/

Exactly my thoughts. I've always been better in road cars, and I like the variety of how different all the various cars behave. I've made a lot of my better daily race results in road cars, so since there is no DR/SR any more, I'm stuck in the higher B ranks (which is okay, to be honest, but anyway).

I like Gardens reverse and the COD is much, much easier in reverse as it's not there 🤣. The uphill from Seaside become downhill corners too so quite quick and fun. Willow Hill will be a shove-fest for sure!

I know what you mean - they're doing the absolute bare minimum to keep people interested in the game to the point it feels intentional.

Dailies get way too stale way too quickly now there are really only 2 of them, and the singleplayer is still in a massive content draught that needs a massive overhaul to be worth anything to a lot of people. AI are very much intentionally gimped in custom races too, so you can't even rely on that for good easy racing (AI never use full throttle and "Professional" isn't the highest internal difficulty).

I truly don't know what their goal is here. A little monkey fella could do a better job directing the game. A random "Quick Race" button thrown into the menu I can almost guarantee would be popular.

1x tyre/fuel across the board... Good job in keeping the races simple, PD! You're literally killing it.

Will not care even to do the daily mileage next week.

Well this is going to be about the time my interest in the dailies tails off next week...

I might be away a while

Is Race A definitely no DR/SR? Is that going to be standard now?

I know i am a little impatient, but do we know next weeks races already?
Edit: Sorry, last posts didnt pop up until i wrote my message.

I mean, I am glad we're seeing some different tracks but Williow can just get burried under the sand for all I care. I hate that track and with it so easy to push people off... well, just glad I have a #2 account.

Trouble with willow and any track with no run off is that even if racing is pretty clean the pinball physics can kill you. One little nudge and you’re one pixel into the sand and race over. DT gardens could be a bit lairy as well if the Alfa is the go to car
