So I see the new update didn't fix the end-of-race timer issue. We still have to wait the full time, even after everyone has finished. So glad to see that PD cares about quality-of-life. I wonder if anyone there actually plays the game regularly (races daily races regularly). I'm guessing not.
No chance.

If they did, we'd get races that at least come close to filling up the timeslots, rather than having us race for 7 minutes just to wait for another 10 minutes until the next slot.

Looking fabulous out on track this evening courtesy of @MidnightRun85 . I couldn't resist this one!

My Eyes Pain GIF

6 races in last two days have frozen up before they started... My internet is fine.... this is annoying

Two rough races for me tonight. I was in 2 totally loaded A+/A rooms and I was way out of my league. Too many small off track penalties really add up over a race in both of my attempts.

Race 1 has me P12 on the grid and I can't keep pace with those in front of me. The penalties mentioned above didn't help matters any and I finish in P13. I got my fuel saved just enough to finish without running out.

Race 2 has me in P14 this time and from the start a car spins and I gain a free spot. But then I get into the back of another driver who was on the tail of a 787B. Both were on the brakes earlier than I expected and contact was made. So after that contact penalty I drop to the back of the grid. Somehow, I make it back to P13 to finish. I did apologize to the driver I hit post race.

And that's going to be it for the week if the lobbies are going to be stacked as they have been for me. I do wonder how I would have done in an all B rank lobby. While the combo was good, but think it's just above my skill level. I still did better than I thought I would. This combo was great fun despite my results in the end. I finally got to learn how to drive a GR.1 car and not be awful at it. So that's cool at least.

It would at least be cool if you could see a camera at the finish line during the wait.

I've been struggling all week with trying to get a decent QT. Went in Wed night and had two horrifying
races, so tonight I said the heck with it and jumped in with the Trophy car and got a P3 after starting
P9 in an all B race. Switched to the Alpha and set a QT 1.6 better than my last and thought I would get a good
starting spot......but NO, I get put in a lobby of A+ and A drivers with a few B drivers (including myself).

:D Did not end well, started P11 and finished P12 after wrecking myself.

Finally got a win in Race C tonight. I'm C/B so the lobby was full of "going to stop" players, which is fine as I hate saving and don't bother doing it.

Start 4th, 3rd basically pulls over, 2nd is the Mercedes Group C car which I can out accelerate, and 1st was a VGT of some sorts. I'm in the 919.
Take first into Tetre Rouge b/c 1st had an issue in the esses before it but he catches me before the first chicane. From there I chase him all the way down to Arnage where he serves a penalty that is longer than mine. Take the lead.

Hold it until I pit at the end of Lap 2. From there fight my way back up the field till everyone but the leader pits on Lap 3. Leader pits on 4 and I pass him.

I'm being chased the entire last lap and a half by another 919 who's running faster times than I am. I keep him at bay, even with a penalty, into the Porsche Curves for the final time. He's behind, but not super close into the Ford Chicane at the end but OMG The Lunge happens and he draws along side into the Raccordement (last turn before starting line) and we bump!

Both spin off into the gravel to the left, I get out faster than he does and cross the line first.

To my dude: I am so sorry, the lunge took me by surprise and I twitched the controller. My bad, you were faster than I was.

Anyone find that in the new update the cars drive a little different now?
Tried to set a lap on Daily B and the 4WD feel really difficult to drive now. Could be more likely that I can’t drive the track backwards.

Honestly, the instability of online play is absolutely atrocious for a game of this profile. Somehow, each update seems to introduce new network play problems without fixing any of the existing ones. Investing 30 minutes in a Daily Race C only to have practice crash for 2 minutes and then the loading screen stick (with no way to exit except closing the game) for a further 10 minutes is pure, unadulterated junk. Come on PD, the game’s not new. You should have fixed this rubbish by now. It ruins any enjoyment we might be getting out of the game.

I've made a video about how the prize money in daily races is just not acceptable

Cheers Tidge. I really appreciate when you do stuff like this; it feels like we shout into a void most of the time on here so it's really nice to see people with more of a voice and platform try and spread the message a bit more.

It worked with the rolling starts (which surprised me actually) so fingers crossed something can change here too.

This is more my point, there doesn't seem to be any contact penalties in this race. It makes it very frustrating because this track happens to be a track where going two wide on the vast majority of corners is a seriously bad idea. It also rewards lunging up the inside of someone because, again, there is no penalty for doing that apparently. There are three tight near 180 degree turns in this race. The optimal strategy if your only goal is to win, is to lunge if someone is in front and use the side of their car to make your turn. There is ZERO penalty for this. I know I've seen penalties given out for this on other tracks so the ability to detect and dole out penalties has to exist.

Another really bad place is the esses, and the straights, you can straight up just push someone into the grass if you're side by side. No penalty, nothing. So the optimal strat is to do that, if your only goal is to win.

I think what I'm saying is that the penalties for this specific track are pretty much garbage for whatever reason. I'm open to admitting it's perception, but it's is so much worse than every other daily race I've done I have a hard time believing it.
I hate when that happens! I just did that in my last race, although I was second, not first. Plenty of time between me and P3, and then I lose concentration for a brief second and I end up third. Gah!!

I have seen contact penalties (I'm pretty sure), but I think you have to be pretty egregious to get one. Last night I pushed someone off the track and into the wall, and not only didn't I get a penalty, I got a CRB!
These are the reasons I haven’t raced at all this week, after quitting midway through last week. The wall penalties seem to be gone this week, but a complete lack of penalties for contact mean that I have to intentionally drive dirty if I want to win. I hate that the dirty drivers are incentivized to ruin my rating if I try racing cleanly. I probably won’t race much until they fix this because I want to actually RACE, not play at bumper cars. And I don’t want to unlearn all my clean driving skills that I’ve spent so much time on just to be “competitive.”

Here's my finalized tune for Race A. It's pretty much the same as before but with full weight reduction and using only 3rd gear.

I have no idea how the top times are so much faster on the straights but I do know my tune makes the car handle better.

I am not trying to say this is a not horrid experience, however not once have I had this.

edit: forgot an important word :)

As written before, I've done most of my actual races on my "i-don't-care"-account. I had some mildly enjoyable races, some good results, and some bad ones, due to the usual stuff. My impression is that, due to the lack of penalties, many drivers don't even drive dirty intentionally. They just think it's the way to do it - others do it, too, and there's no consequences (except, maybe, some DR points lost). In one race I had a battle over the whole distance, with several overtakes back and forth, with an english, let's say: gentleman, who constantly pushed and shoved me to pass, or to stop my overtaking attempts, but never so egregiously that I would have met Barry R. or gone onto the grass. He just seemed to think it's all okay, as long as you don't send the opponent completely off-track. That seems to be the mindset that PD is creating with its bad, or rather non-existent penalty system. Self-policing doesn't work at all.

Really? We get it in the Asian PS4 lobbies all the time. It’s also extremely rare for a 16 car lobby to start with more than14 cars as several get disconnected every lobby.

Race C looking nice. Wonder which cars will be competitive there? SSS? Supra? GTR?
The fact there's a mandatory stop is nice as it won't be a BRZ fest. META will probably be the Porsche*. That's my guess.

*Unless there were some BoP updates in this last update I am not aware of.

There were! Supra and 911 got significant nerfs, along with a fair few changes to other cars.

Different BoP's for different track speeds have also finally been reintroduced, they were all the same since the MR physics update.

Details here: https://gt-engine.com/gt7/cars/gr3/gr3-01-specs.html

Decent going in Daily Race C yesterday despite a 1,0 sec penalty. I think I finished like P8 on Wednesday for this one after a silly 3 sec penalty. But yeah solid race pace and even beat some A+ rated drivers. While I am not the best qualifier at Le Mans, the race pace is there with this combo. I think I had a P9 to P2 result a while back in the GR010 Nations Cup race months ago. Not too difficult to fuel save, just short shift a bunch with fuel map 1.

Did also one Race A but that was a snoozefest with the differing tunes and car capabilities. P2 to P2 with big gaps to P1 and P3. Seems to be a big issue in these pp based races, not the first time it happens 🥱🤔 But anyway, should be fun next week. Will have to see if I do race B or not, tough track to get right with the wide lines.

Two laps for race B. Two!

A typo maybe? St Croix isn't that long.

It's another unimaginative week with no changes to the format (shocker) but the tri-oval popping up is fun and St Croix in the Gr 4 is actually a very good drive.

I suck at Suzuka these days so don't know how much I'll do of that, but at least it's a mandatory stop.
