This is how it feels for us all as we progress, we end up in lobbies that we feel are too hard. But they are a learning experience and soon you will feel at home in it
Remember the matchmaking is not trying to put you in a lobby you can win, but one with equal racers. If you qualify as p10 you're supposed to finish as p10 too, anything above is progressing.

My win/race rate in GTS was about 2-3%.
And that's not exceptionally low
There's players that boast with 2500 race wins, but they are seal clubbing. Behaving so bad that their safety rating goes down enough to loose their driver rating, get put in lobbies with beginners, win, rinse and repeat.
That kind of behaviour isn't really racing, it's gaming the system and they can rarely hack it in higher lobbies.
Better to stay clean, race your piers and slowly progress.
Good luck, see you out there
3,022 wins, to be exact. And over 16,100 races completed in GT Sport. 99.5% of that in Daily A.

I never "seal clubbed" or intentionally tanked my rating... just kept it honest, clean, and fast.

So far in GT7 Sport mode I have 5 wins out of maybe 200 races.

There is one thing though... and I'm wondering if anybody else experienced anything similar.

Something weird happened on Wednesday (March 30). I went to enter my first Race A of the day and got a weird error message when warmup started, but everything still seemed to be working. Then I noticed my rating - D/E. I should have been A/S. There were 2 A+ drivers at the top and everybody else was D/E. Well, warmup never ended and eventually the whole lobby collapsed with another error message. Restarted the game after sending a couple of PM's to some friends who were in there who confirmed the same happened to them.

So... entered Race A again. Rating was B/S. But the weirdest thing of all...

My race chat greeting from GTS popped up all by itself. "Greetimgs, Programs!"
After the race, my post race comment from GTS showed up as well. "End of Line"

At least I don't have to manually type them anymore...

You can still set up a pre and post race message. It’s in your settings (GT symbol in upper left).

So this week, two GR.3 races one returning to Deep forest just a month after release! Don't mind the SPA race but thought a little bit more imagination could have gone into this week!

Still no tinkering race allowed. Would have been more interesting to tune the race A cars as a sort of amatuer tuners event!

How does one improve DR in Gran Turismo 7?

I have been doing daily races every day pretty much and I am still on DR D and can't seem to find a way to prigress up, my SR is always S, is it because I am also taking part in the FIA Races so I am currently locked at DR D till the season finishes?

If someone could explain I'd appreciate!

I know you're not seal clubbing. You are just very good at race A.

Finish in at least the top half of a race.

You gain DR from everyone you beat, and lose it to everyone who beats you; how much you gain depends on whether their DR is higher or lower than yours to start with. Beat someone with a higher DR and you'll gain more, lose to someone with a worse DR and you'll lose more. The more people you beat and the fewer that beat you, the more you gain.

On average this means you'll gain DR if you finish in at least the top half of any given race, although sometimes you might need to be a position or two higher - and some edge cases might require a win, but this is extremely rare.

For the FIA races you're "locked" to a league, not to a DR level. You will stay in GT3 until the season ends, but your DR can rise and fall just as it would in any other event.

DR driver rating relates to how fast you are compared to others (as it's what dictates where you'll finish) and how high you manage to finish. As you beat other players, you are rewarded points.

Someone will explain it to excruciating detail, no doubt, but the TL;DR version is that: start to finish higher up and that way you'll get a better DR.

Edit: beaten, should've disabled TCS for this one.

I would think they are looking into the absurd BOP balancing for the gr.4 cars. Hopefully no more overpowered Atenza winning every race.

Tuning the race A cars is a good idea. Would remind me of my younger days - tinkering with Vauxhall Novas and Ford Orions. Even just stuff like brakes, suspension and small engine modifications.

Did a quick B race before work and it was good fun. Got up to 4th before losing the rear and tapping another car off - waited for him to pass and ended up 2nd last. I apologised after the race, then when I watched the replay I discovered I lost the rear due to him shoving me wide.

Race C could be fun with random rain on some races.

Stupid question re DR rating - does where you started make a difference? i.e. do I get more points for finishing 5th having qualified 12th than I'd get if I finished 5th but had qualified 6th?

I don't think it does but someone else will know for sure - does the game still put a car number on your car that indicates how you measure up against the opposition?

I might be completely wrong but my impression of GT Sport was that it did the above. As in, if the number on your car is "7" then you have the 7th highest DR rating in the lobby.

Watch other people race. Watch yourself race by saving your replays at the end of your good and your bad races. Watch videos where people explain the braking points for the races.

The link above from Tidgney is great. He will show you each race in full and give you 1 lap if explanation. Mr MCA is good for this too, and he does individual vids for each track so they're shorter.

One tip I got that really helped me; stick to 1 of the three each week. When I started I would do 1 race till I got it down good (a podium finish) then I would move to the next. That will keep you lower. Stick with one race and get quality finishes over and over and that will help your rating.

I wish the daily races would have weather. Don't need every race to be wet, or follow a set cycle, but just having that constant 'it might rain with a few laps to go' aspect to things would make it really interesting.

No. Finish position only.

Not completely wrong, but it wasn't totally reliable. That's because it sorted DR the way a dictionary would, so a DR of 9 would rank higher than a DR of 10,000.

In lobbies where everyone's DR was 1,000-9,999, or 10,000-99,999, yes it worked exactly the way you say. Outside of that, it could be a bit misleading.

It perfectly simulates driving in Britain.

Maybe that is why there is a double Gr3 race this week.
I still remember how surprised i was when visiting south england (bournemouth/weymouth) and stumbled over very warm temperature, beaches, palms and sun! :D

Yes I think the gray skies talk is generally overplayed due to our fatalistic sense of humour, it is often quite nice on these shores weather wise.

Focus on 1 race combo. Practice, practice, practice until you get the absolute best time that you can. Then and only then enter races. Aim for top 5. If not, more practice.

Works to a certain pont. Problem with this strategy is the higher you go, the harder the competition, the more practice your opponents put/have put in.

Spa does look so much better with the ever lasting battle between dark clouds and sunshine happening, as per real life, it's great to look at.

Couple more laps and the chance of rain would have made this the best daily yet, though.

Can you imagine the absolute wreckfest that would most often result from a wet race?

Recommendations for a GR3 car that isn't too tail happy in stock setup?
I picked up the Hyundai Genesis early on and it's become mr reliable for me, really surprised me, and I'd highly recommend it. Good solid performer and my go to to set a base laptime on a new circuit.
