No. Finish position only.
Thanks, most helpful. One additional question - if the race starts with (for example) 16 cars and 8 of them disconnect during the race for whatever reason, does finishing 8th count as top half for DR purposes, or does it count as a last place?

I'm happy with BOP and not being allowed to add parts but at least allow us to change a set up, this is where the fun, advantage and learning comes from. Part of the fun for me what private testing, run laps changing and testing then taking into a daily race to see how it performs against competitors.

You beat everyone who disconnects or quits. The first person to leave the race is credited with a last place finish.

I can only imagine that their internal testing has revealed some glitches in some of the setup changes. Or at least, that some cars become drastically advantageous under different parameters. If set ups worked as intended, we'd probably be allowed to edit them by now.

Finish in at least the top half of a race.

You gain DR from everyone you beat, and lose it to everyone who beats you; how much you gain depends on whether their DR is higher or lower than yours to start with. Beat someone with a higher DR and you'll gain more, lose to someone with a worse DR and you'll lose more. The more people you beat and the fewer that beat you, the more you gain.

On average this means you'll gain DR if you finish in at least the top half of any given race, although sometimes you might need to be a position or two higher - and some edge cases might require a win, but this is extremely rare.

For the FIA races you're "locked" to a league, not to a DR level. You will stay in GT3 until the season ends, but your DR can rise and fall just as it would in any other event.

Thank you, I have been having a few top five positions this week in FIA races so hopefully I will see a change in my DR rank soon.

Can you imagine the absolute wreckfest that would most often result from a wet race?
We've had wet races before. Granted, that was wasn't dynamic weather but I don't think it would be too much of a problem as long as it doesn't go from dry to wet too quickly (which is an issue with some of the single player content, that 24 minutes of Le Mans mission for example).

They should definitely be putting more dynamic weather in races that have comfort/sports tyres just to mix things up a bit.

The clock kind of works in the Corolla. It's fast, a minute is like 10 seconds. Neat.

The sound iin the rear mirror view is the same as cockpit. Pretty sure the sounds should be louder.

Was only able to get one session for today as I spent the whole day trying to put together a good qualifying lap time which was worth it for me at least as I managed to get a 1:27.4 that allowed me to put into pole position for the one session I'm in for today.

Had a good race around Deep Forest Daily Race B as thanks to the World GT Series grinding I have been doing a while back, I became used to using the Ford GT Race Car '18 around Deep Forest and it was proven to be an advantage for me for this Daily.

The race was nice as I had a good battle for P1 against a driver in a Pennzoil themed GT-R NISMO GT3 and while he was pressuring me into making a mistake, I was keeping my defense game up and eventually he almost cracked it on the last lap on the hairpin where he attempted a lunge that almost worked but I was able to get a switchback on him but unfortunately had a moment where I rubbed him while I was doing the switchback. From there I was able to get my 10th win here and it was a nice moment for me as in all of my years in playing online in 5 to present I never had a win around Deep Forest until now. It was also nice to finally get a win also with the Ford GT Race Car '18 because it was one of my goals when I bought the car way back.

Post race I messaged the driver I got into a small scuffle with on the hairpin and I apologized. He didn't mind it as the race was fun to say the least but for me it serves as a lesson for me to be more careful next time around.

Overall I'm glad there's a Gr.3 BoP Daily Race around Deep Forest. As per usual I'll be spending most of the my time in this one and will look into other Gr.3 cars that are good around Deep Forest.

I really think it's more a case of them playing it safe and not wanting to rock the boat too much for the fans that are here for more of the races they had in GT Sport. It's always hard to tell online which side of the debate has more support, but maybe after the first couple of weeks they realised that Sport gets a lot more players when tuning is disabled? I imagine that tuning/setups are a turn off for casual players particularly.

That still doesn't explain why they won't give us just one daily race per rotation that has open car choice, tuning, and setups. We spend all this time tuning up our cars for different events and then it turns out there's no use for them outside of repeating the same races over and over. The 86s race this week is such a missed opportunity lol, why on earth are we not able to lightly tune these things up a bit considering its heritage?

A few things to play with would be nice. Like downforce. Trading cornering ability for speed. Or the LSD, trading power out of corners for stability.

Remember that mission in GT Sport where you were in a 911 and had 30 mins to chase down the lead Ferrari. He was way faster than you but the 911 cornered like nobody's business. Wish we had something like that in the online races.

3,022 wins, to be exact. And over 16,100 races completed in GT Sport. 99.5% of that in Daily A.

I never "seal clubbed" or intentionally tanked my rating... just kept it honest, clean, and fast.

So far in GT7 Sport mode I have 5 wins out of maybe 200 races.

There is one thing though... and I'm wondering if anybody else experienced anything similar.

Something weird happened on Wednesday (March 30). I went to enter my first Race A of the day and got a weird error message when warmup started, but everything still seemed to be working. Then I noticed my rating - D/E. I should have been A/S. There were 2 A+ drivers at the top and everybody else was D/E. Well, warmup never ended and eventually the whole lobby collapsed with another error message. Restarted the game after sending a couple of PM's to some friends who were in there who confirmed the same happened to them.

So... entered Race A again. Rating was B/S. But the weirdest thing of all...

My race chat greeting from GTS popped up all by itself. "Greetimgs, Programs!"
After the race, my post race comment from GTS showed up as well. "End of Line"

At least I don't have to manually type them anymore...
I have't been able to race much online yet doe to work. (Give me another month and I will see you all again more regularly) So, I haven't experience any weird errors or anything. I got to do a couple races, race B on Saturday and all was smooth. I'm pretty sure my race chat has always appeared, but I did re input them from the GT symbol menu. I never thought they could just carry over from Sport

I haven't been able to get into the game since last night. Everything on the world map is greyed out except world circuits. Has this happened to anyone else?

Edit - nevermind, I think it's because I'm in the middle of a championship in single player.

Race C - meh. My Q time has put me on pole. I tried no stopping with fuel leaned to 6 for most of the race and I was on 0.1 when I crossed the line in 5th at the end. Could probably have scraped 3rd if I didn't screw up the last chicane

Just tried again with a fuel stop, would have won if I didn't go wide at Blanchimont and get a penalty on the last lap 🙄😭 Accidentally changed tyres which cost an extra 2 or 3 seconds too.

I seem to be doing better in Gr3 cars in GT7 than I did in GT Sport?? It feels I can get more lock on the steering in tighter turns.

Edit/ low B/S rated

Race C in DR A / A+ no stop seems to be the only viable strategy. Such a shame as constantly cycling fuel map and staring at fuel percentages is certainly one option but shouldn’t have to be the only option.

I'm going to ignore online until the next update at least. Another horrible experience today.

The good: Spa looks breathtaking on PS5 in 4K HDR with the sun poking through the dark clouds.
The bad: Everything else.

I first did two races on PS5, yet although wired, I never get more than 3 bars in GT7 on PS5 (no such issue with GT Sport on PS5). It's laggy, cars keep juddering around and it didn't take long to get taken out by a car suddenly jumping backwards and sideways, sent into the wall for 1.5 sec, car damaged, plus another 1 sec penalty for good measure.

Too laggy, so I switched to PS4 Pro where I get 5 bars on GT7. Interestingly, more people on ps4 pro at Sarthe today, full B/S rooms, vs A+/S to B/S on PS5 with A/B in the mix. Better server yet the frame rate constantly fluctuates on PS4 Pro in 4K HDR. It makes it very hard to corner precisely and it even paused for half a second then all the cars jumped back and forth...

I set the output resolution to 1080p, that fixed the frame rate but now it looks worse than Spa on GT Sport lol. The odd pauses still happen though, no clue why, maybe people quitting. (GT Sport hitched as well when people quit but not as bad) A car behind me was suddenly half in front of me (merged with my car) after the game glitched again.

It's still more laggy than GT Sport was and now you get penalties from laggy cars while they can bump you off without getting a penalty. Nothing happens to them, yet their car falls back and jumps ahead again and I get a penalty. Plus the lovely pit exit penalty, get thrown out of the pit half merged with another car, move over a bit to untangle and 3 sec pit lane penalty :banghead:

Add in "Disconnected due to data loss" while still in the lobby before the race started and "An unexpected error has occurred" midway during the race, eff this ********. How did it get so much worse than GT Sport ever was :(

I didn't try no stop btw, the Lexus already needs to fuel save to make 5 laps, let alone 8. However it takes 25 seconds to reach the pit box, ridiculous. It's much easier in GT7 too, I can take Radillon and the last left flat out without even thinking about it.

Oh well, I got my memories from GT Sport

Back to the grind, then enjoy N24 again. Sport mode is dead.

@Boltar yes, still the same

Player count is down the drain though

I have a theory on why the races are the way they are with the Group 3 duplication and the near repeat, I suspect they had a few months of races planned out from the beginning but they've yanked out all the non-BoP and Gr.4 races from the schedule due to the PP and balancing issues we've seen, leaving us with what we're seeing. I bet this week's B and C races were supposed to be C races from different weeks, but they're all that's left from the schedule so we're seeing them at the same time.

I can't seem to get the Renault through the technical part of Deep Forest without it getting very squirrelly. But the Porsche goes through it no problem so if I race this week, it will be with that, even though it understeers a bit.

First attempt at race B was quite a **** show. Didn't have time for qualifying so I started P16. By the end of lap 1, up to 13 from spinners. Finished P7 from multiple collisions/spins on the last few laps. Not bad. WRX is strong here but I will be trying the McLaren again as well.

Absolutely sizzling session in Race B this evening.

Taking my rented Subaru around the forest and somehow dragged myself back out of DR B (I never thought it would happen). I think the tough love of GT7 has taught me things I never realised back in GTS.

Subtle things like having the patience to let the car rotate mid corner. Understanding that 'carrying speed' doesn't necessarily refer to going faster, but having enough momentum to maintain the downforce & required grip to get the power down sooner. Also, I'm not afraid to open the throttle more gradually upon corner exit, because in this game everyone else is having to do so too.

Anyway, I took my first GT7 Group 3 win after starting 2nd behind an A+ driver, complete with a successful, clean overtake. I don't think I've won a Group 3 race in Gran Turismo since I first scraped my way into DR A more than a year ago.

😁😁😁

Did a couple of race B with my Lexus (because, why not?) Ans it actually wasn't too bad. Though it seems that I'm back to my favourite game ... how many RCZs can I beat? A couple of 5th places achieved, and some good battles fought.
