Although in some B/S lobbies I've found players not returning the favour and actively defending despite the huge pace differential
Had one driving me nuts yesterday, it's lap 3 and he's defending 7th place to the point the cars ahead are pulling away and the cars behind are closing in behind me. Trying to race the guy clean and I'm just swearing at him through the screen

You're slowing us both down ffs!

Well after a 100 or so races since early March I think I can say I found my level. I appear to be a lowly B ranked driver.

I guess the only way to know is to drive more races. I'll either gain until I can't or fall until I don't and bobble around. One thing I've taken away from this was that I used to worry when my DR fell. Now I'm not concerned about it. It'll be what it'll be...

Drive on!

This little clip is from last night, I had a world tour player coming from behind so figured I wouldn't defend but the Porsche is so good out of the slow corners you don't even need to 😂

It's like you were holding that position out of reach whilst they jumped to try and get it. You tease!

I only play wired 🥴
I used to be the same but I switched to wireless a few months ago and the connection is a lot better and I'm not getting the annoying disconnects (it used to flash up that the ethernet was disconnected for half a second and kick me out, I'm guessing the port on the console is a bit loose).

I genuinely wasn't bothered about keeping the place but I'll take it if the opportunity is there 😂

Race A is great fun, proof that low power + low grip = lots of fun. On top of the fact that good close racing can be had.

Something I was able to enjoy last night when I managed one quick race. I managed a closely fought 3rd place, where the 3 of us as a group broke away and no more than 1s covered us at any one time. The gap was 0.7 from me to 1st, with myself just a tenth off second.

The Copen is very much a momentum car, so it's important to try and be smooth with your lines and exits out of corners. Plus it's lump powerband mean short-shifting is vital. Aside from the start, I've only ever used 3rd and 4th throughout the race. Need to revisit my quali time, as I know I've definitely left some time on the table, particularly the 2nd sector.

Joining the solidly B rated DR group… ran three events in Race B last night. Had a quick run through qualifying before race 1 and found. Tenth to get me down to 1:26.1. That put me on pole in a solidly B/S lobby. Lights to flag win by 4 seconds with fastest lap, despite having a wobble on one lap and running very wide on one turn.

Full of confidence and with a few mins to spare before the next race, I ran another 4 qualifying laps and got down to a 25.7 which I was pretty pleased with. Unfortunately that put me mid grid in a mixed lobby with mainly A rated drivers… all of them clearly better than me 😂! I think I ended the two races in 10th and 12th, and the speed at the front from a couple of A+ drivers was epic. Traveling for a couple of days now so won’t get another go until the weekend, at which point the rest of the field will likely have moved on a couple of tenths and I’ll be tooling around at the back. I do enjoy Road Atlanta though… race on!

track limits

Pirates Of The Caribbean Code GIF by Brian Benns
Having been in Copens for a while... yeah. They're really unpredictable in how they interact with track limits. It's to do with how narrow they are - they can fully occupy the tiny bit of legal road surface (the curbs/etc) on some tracks, but on other tracks it's a full shortcut penalty if they touch the white line with the inside tires on exit or outside tires on entry.

I have a great Monday with potential to improve throughout the week. Think to myself this is gonna be a great race to improve that DR. Not been on since as I pick up an injury playing real life sport and my ankle doesn't want to bend. So annoyed!!

I'm getting really fed up of this! No matter what, my races always get ruined!!! This time it was thanks to.....

MY NOSE! My friggin nose 😵

So after a really crappy day at the office, I turn on GT7 to dial down and instantly improve my Road Atlanta qualy time by setting a 1:25:600 (replay below) and decide it's a good omen to jump into a race!

I start P9 and in a comfy P6 by lap 4. Then, coming into the braking point at the up/ down chicane at the end of the lap, out of the blue and without warning, I sneeze so hard I almost lose the car!

I panic-attempt to control it, accidentally shift from 2nd to 4th and going uphill sideways, half in the grass, I somehow manage to gain control but already lose a position and have dirty tires...

Start the final lap on the back foot and again, 20 seconds into the lap, I friggin sneeze again and almost lose the car again! And another car goes through...

No idea how but I kept my composure and finished P8, a place gained instead of a minimum of 3 😢

Here's the qualy lap:

Here's the race..

Interesting day of racing today

Did an few hours of GTWS at lunch which was a bit of a disaster.
Then just jumped on now for a few Daily C's

Man I'm knackered after 3 races of RBR
3 so, so races.
Race 1 - spun lap 1 by myself. Then got tagged lap 9. P13 I think I finished
Race 2 - again a poor result. P12 I think
Race 3 - was like bumper cars. So much dirty driving. Had cars diving left right and centre and then cars blocking, was a mess.
Lap 1 a car tried to overtake on the outside of T1. I had covered the inside but the car behind turned into me an they spun. Running in P7 and going well the car who we tangled with in T1 ran longer on mediums to obviously wait for me to come close. I over take them and the very next corner I got punted off. P10 in the end.

Last night after several mediocre performances at Road Atlanta I thought I would look at Race A again. Previously my QT was terrible at 1:11 something and I had no idea how to improve it. After studying the drive of one of the top 10 cars, I finally got a sense of how to drive the Copen.

Over a 1/2 hour or so of practice QT I got myself into a low 1:05.357 QT time. And decided to jump onto a race.

I ended up in a very uncompetitive lobby (for them! :D).

I hadn't practiced grid starts with this car so up into the first corner 2nd and 3rd were along side me jostling for position, but I knew how to take the hairpin of T5(?). There was a bit of bumping in the group which may be why I did not get my CRB but after that I pulled out and it was just clear TT after that.

Got the trifecta of QT, fastest lap and win by over 11 seconds.

Strangely, after the race I never got the Victory! screen. I wonder why not...

BTW I posted my QTs to the Showcase. Search for GTP20.

Also it would be good if you guys/gals(?) post you QT to Showcase as well for Race B and C QT so I have something to chase...

Drivin race c is nice, started in the back P14 and drove to 8 in 3 races ☺️ my quali is a mid 1:31 on mid therefore I can mostly hold that time and improve and on soft I can manage 1:30:xxx. It seems to be a bit less stress than mortal kombat in race b. Maybe I’ll stick to race c even if it’s less races with same amount of time 🤷🏻‍♂️
Last race I had the feeling car and tires react different in race compared to quali 🤷🏻‍♂️

btw: drove the avantage to P8 from P14 in a 911 and gtg dominated lobby 🤷🏻‍♂️

When I first read that, I didn't realize you were going for the pun there - I honestly read it as you saying you only play while strung-out or high. I mean, you wouldn't be the first one who admitted to something like that. I had a good laugh a few seconds later as I understood the context. Thanks for putting a big smile on my face!

That is hilarious! I actually had something like that happen IRL on the freeway at 75 mph - that was not funny!!

Been stuck in the Copen mines since the start of the week (QT down to a 1:04.0, insanely close to my 1:03 goal) but decided to poke my head into Race B because I love Road Atlanta too much to ignore it.

Did a couple quali laps in the Lambo for a 1:25.0, definitely a mid 1:24 in there if I put a bit of time into it, but 25.0 was good enough for mid-pack in the races I did which were super fun.

I took a couple screenshots of my races, but I realised afterwards it made me look like some kind of Harbinger of Death murdering everyone around me.

Weren't you like 8th fastest in the world as of last night? I could have sworn I saw you in the top 10...

Mighty racing on GT7 as of late, I don't know where it happened but the meta seems to have broadened out rather nicely after this physics update. For example, on Road Atlanta this week, unless you're in the REALLY competitive A/A+ lobbies, there's tons of options. And the track is a joy! Great to see PD actually offering some strategy in longer racers with C this week, I hope they can start combining that with the dynamic weather at some point.

Does anyone have a competitive setup for supra for the Red Bull Ring? I'm now around top 1000, but I would like to go quicker and I think a setup would be of great help. So if you have a setup please reply, also with your laptime achieved with it. Thanks!

Aside from your traction control settings (and fuel map) all settings are fixed in most Daily Races - including this one. You won't be able to apply a setup.

Just 1 race C for me tonight. Again, I didn't bother try and improve my qualifying time.

I'm P4 on the grid and lap 1 I go slightly off track exiting turn 4 and lose a few spots. It's not enough to slow my momentum so it's all good. I do however get rear ended in turn 3 on lap 2. Entering the final 2 corners there is a ghosted car from a penalty and I have no clue when they will pop back into existence and had to take an awkward line those corners. I'm down to P10 and make my stop on lap 4 as I have been doing. After that, I slowly caught up to the car in front of me and make a pass. But get dinged with 2 off track penalties and lose my spot right back. After the pit cycle, they are in P6 and myself in P7. Some weirdness happens on lap 12 as I catch up in turn 6. I ever so slightly get into their rear bumper but I wait for them to recover and get going again. It sounded like they were having problems shifting gears and almost spin and I just go by. I do finish P6 and call it a night and switch over to the new Zelda as I can't get enough of that.

The lobby was full of impatient drivers trying to make ill advised passes in the opening laps. Just calm down and make smarter decisions later on. I get you want to make progress up the field, but gave some patience people!

Yup. This is pretty much why I quit racing. It’s disappointing and also frustrating because it could be so good, but PD is basically asking the inmates to police themselves.
