First time running daily races after the cup races. Went from B to A and it’s quite clear I’m not good enough in A lobbies. I can’t get until 1:30 in race C.
Same here mate. Sort of float between the two. I had a good week at interlagos a couple of weeks back and was getting into top split then the following week was comically out my depth and been sliding down since lol. The difference between the top guys and where I am is consistency.

EH? I am happily running mid field or higher in Race C, S/A rooms, and you are damn near a second faster than me. Just tried the Jag, again, VERY consistent 30.8's, so many cars to choose from here. That's 5 I can do sub 31's in.

I refuse to buy the Atenza but I’m at that point where I might have. Race B done a few today and my fastest in the GTR is 2.01 and my average starting position is P13. Atenzas seem to be 3/4 seconds quicker.
Last race i was going flat out all race and managed to get P6. Only non Atenza in the top 10.
So how much quicker is the Atenza?
They're horrible to drive but I bought one today & it's so much easier to stay at the front when you have the straight line speed of the Atenza; you don't get mobbed on the straight but you do end up stuck driving with all the other people in fast barges that seemingly don't turn!

Well I’ve bitten the bullet and bought one. I feel disgusted in myself that I had to buy one.
Only done one race and the gears mess with my head. You get to 6th so quickly that some corners are a hear higher and when downshifting im a gear too high sometimes.

Atenza is my last resort car. Will use other Gr4 car first and this when its clear you can’t compete

After swearing at Race A; I swear my 2 tonne off roader handles better...:banghead:
I moved to daily race B at Monza..... qualifying time of 2:05....
was remarkably clean, though I did tap one guy, he braked harder than I did.... almost got my car stopped; 2 second penalty....
I always seem to spin half way round and then wait for everyone to go past to rejoin; but still catch the pack again....
I guess Whiskey doesn't help..
but I did go 1 second faster when racing than my qualifying time...:D

I think the American lobbies are less stacked. Need to be very low 29s or in the 28s for a top 5 grid start which Im miles off

Enjoying blasting the Gr 4 GT-R around Monza, it faces up pretty well to the Mazda. Managed to beat my Atenza qualy lap by almost a second, started 2nd but binned it at Ascari sadly, about to have another crack.

It loses out some acceleration but top speed wise it held it off down the long straights quite well and I just love these cars and how much you can chuck them around far more to drive with.

Perhaps another option to challenge with anyway.

red bull ring really accentuates the sketchy feeling physics in gt7 for me. for offline and single player I've been for the most part using tcs on 1 with some track exceptions. red bull ring is one of them, I think that tcs doesn't work very well on undulations - you lose a lot of power when using tcs on red bull ring t1 and t2 especially. BUT if you don't use tcs the subaru spins out very easily. got a very good quali time for me, 29.0, but this is from about a third of my laps spinning off, so race pace is very poor

So we now have three days of the atenza being overpowered as ****, ghosting of slow cars and dive bombers is not working.. And polyphony is doing absolutely nothing about these issues?

A bop adjustment isnt a big thing, and the ghosting either because it did work before, kind of anyways.

But zero action??

I literally have NO idea how you guys are doing 29's. I am white knuckling my way around the track and best is a 30.4 optimal.
The WRX is quite a bit quicker than anything else but it’s also reliant on not using TC and manual gears for the first two big right handers. The game has conspired against you this week!

I'm going to moan about BOP, I don't want the Porsche to be the quickest car down the straights because it has great handling but surely a touch more power is needed. If I added up right the WRX is gaining between 7 and 9 tenths on the straights alone at Red Bull Ring, even if I can get a better exit and a slipstream they pull away in the second half of the straight.

The pit straight in this clip shows the pain.

Been a while since I did the Sports races. Just got back into it today to try out a few Race #2 Gr.4 events on Monza and, well, both races it's been 13 to 14 Atenzas, then my Ferrari and some brave guy in another car model trying to keep up with the Mazda pack. Barely a chance. Am afraid I'll continue waiting for tuning to come back to Sports mode (or at least a significant BoP re-balance).

/edit
Might give the GT-R a go though seeing how much Mercia seems to recommend it.

What chance have you got!

I did one race c yesterday on a full B/S lobby. It was clean and really enjoyable with only one minor incident that ended up having a significant impact.

I was P4, after starting P3, on lap 3 and this guy dive bombs me on T2 from a 2 car gap at least. I was right on top of P3 so I was trying not to ram him. I see him going for it and delay my turn in to avoid contact and let him go off track. He touches me ever so slightly (still makes the corner so maybe it was a fair move) and somehow gets a 2 second penalty. I thought that was excessive. Sure it was a dangerous move and I couldn’t take my line but I didn’t even flinch and he didn’t went off track.

So anyway, now I’m behind him and he’s battling with P3. We get to the penalty zone and I have a 1.3 seconds gap so I decide to not go around him because I want to use the whole track for the next right and he stayed on the racing line. Just when I’m about to pass him he materialises and I hit him. I mean, wtf. He’s almost standing still and on the racing line. Why isn’t he ghosting after serving the penalty? Also, it was like hitting a wall. He didn’t move and my car was completely destroyed. Front and engine damage. I’m now on P12. I manage to recover to P5 but then get passed by two cars and finish P7.

After the race I went to check the replay and just as I thought the car I hit didn’t even flinch and didn’t get any damage. Is this a bug? I’ve had other cases hitting cars materialising and we both crashed but not this time.

At this point I’m thinking this penalty serving system should be rethought. I didn’t like the previous one where you could serve the penalty during the whole race but this is causing other issues. People should be forced to serve penalties off the racing line or just apply them after the race and have cumulative. If people get over 5 seconds do a stop and go and over 15 just disqualify them.

On this track specifically the penalty zone is on a small straight and you have a fast angled right after it. Can’t even imagine how someone serves a 5 seconds or more penalty on this track.

feels like a lot of the corners you need to be applying like 90-95% throttle immediatly as youre exiting the apex, then 100% immediatly at the moment you straighted up. t1 and t2 are really delicate but ofc super important because of the straights right after them

First time running daily races after the cup races. Went from B to A and it’s quite clear I’m not good enough in A lobbies. I can’t get under 1:30 in race C.
In a similar boat. Only started playing online a few weeks back so started in D. Was doing really well. Basically, if I didn't screw up I'd win. Then up to C where I was having some success but it was harder. Got some wins, but also a P2, P5 (though that was in the Viper that struggled around Austria) and a couple in between.

Then I noticed my quali time (1:30.49X in the GTR) that had me starting on the front row now had me in 4th/5th/6th; got bumped up to B. Oh boy. I was struggling a bit but it was my fault as I was over-driving trying to make up time, but we all know how that works out.

So, I had to do something I am not proud of... get in the Meta. Up until last night I was in the Jag, Porsche, Viper, and GTR. So I got in the Subaru and did some more quali laps. After and handful of laps, got my quali down to 1:30.11X. So, not great but good enough to put me on pole for the next race; thankfully all those that were in the 29s weren't in that race!

Was able to turn it into a win as the guy in P2 spun at T1 and the rest of them were fighting it out so all I needed to do was drive off. Might never win a B again but at least I can say I did once!

It's funny because in the first week lots of people were moaning about the tuning races all being won by the Skylines & going on about BoP, but BoP has been in force most weeks since & it's painfully boring.

Gr.4 is the worst as it has to be the Atenza at every track, at least with Gr.3 the car changes with the track so there are a few options. I came 2nd at RBR last night in the Lancer which was a nice change.

Daytona was the best week. But more due to strategy than tuning imo. There were 3 different strategies and 3 or 4 viable cars. Plus Daytona gr3 is a goat combo.

Maybe yeah. I am having jolly good races though, starting around P9/10 and inevitably working my way up to top 5 in S/A rooms. It's funny because in GTS I was a tyre muncher of the highest order but in this particular race, I am definitely getting the better of folks in the last 4 laps. Guys are either spinning off of getting REALLY squirrly under power, I am coming from 2, 3, 4 seconds back and just slowly picking guys off.

Hey I have the same livery! It is my favorite group 3 car (and i just bought a 997, like in real life!!) but the lack of top end really hurts. It seems to skooch out of corners fine enough but mid way down long straights it runs out of lungs. I think it is gearing, 7th, is SUPER SUPER long. Try the Z4 for a similar feel with more top end.

OK group 4 is ruined by the Mazda which will be nerfed but Group 3 is pretty dang good. I have a best lap between 30.7 and 30.9 in the following cars in Race C this week;

Z4
WRX
Jag
Mustang
Mercedes AMG

And of those only the Z4 managed a 30.7, the rest all 30.9's. That is super, super close, really it's a great BOP in group 3 right now. Track is not suited to the 911 but yeah it could do with more top end, the McLaren I just cannot drive so it seems to be competitive too and I couldn't quite get the Corvette into the 30's.

I see a lot of variety in the second split (all S/A, no A+), a few more WRX than anything else but fundamentally, a great mix. The McLarens REALLY struggle the last 2 laps though.
