I'm loving the R8 at Trial Mountain - feels like it's not appreciated much as never have anyone else in it in races. Drives amazing! And I tried the 2015 version instead of the 2018 car and improved my time by 0.15s :)

I think I love the gtplanet racing suit...is it for public use?
If you have the game on you can check Showcase / Collection and find it there, along with who created it.
Gotta love it. @MrHatss, @Mercia posted right below mine, and of course he's the one who made the livery. I think you can search or "jdevlin" or "jdeviant1983".
Just returning from a short hospital stint, the daillies look decent this week?
I hope you're feeling better! As for this week's dailies, I'm loving TM in reverse.

Indeed thank you for the interest, GrumpyOldMan the model apparently, or perhaps brand ambassador

I have a black and blue version uploaded along with a helmet for each to match if you're looking for that as well.

Getting there I hope, having a couple of inpatient treatments to help my leg heal from the accident, it's very slow going but this should help it make progress. We'll see when it next gets checked. Appreciate the ask.

I hope TM is better for me than Kyoto as I can't find a rhythm at all and am stuck at the back of the pack. Shame as I love the original layout.

Earlier I said I had a fanstastic race yesterday but rather than describe it I did a video.

Then at 1am, my time I thought I would get the morning Euro crowd again. Big mistake. I had a lobby full of A and A+ and very few B at back. I started P11, made it up a couple spots and then just got brutalized being forced out and ended up last. Not a good race. Went to bed after that...

I gave that a try last night after some races were it won. The handling is a bit different that the R.S.01 and I am sure I would get used to it and I can see where it is strong, however, it was not as confidence inspiring as the Renault so I'm sticking with that for now. If I had started out on the R8 and think I could've had a good time with it.
I’ve almost never driven the RS01 but it is so awesome at Trial Mountain Reverse. Does this translate to many other tracks?
Yes, it does well as Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as well.

Race B became increasingly brutal last night so I’ll give it another go today.

First two races were okay with a few intentional push to pass but the last two were rough.
In one I started p8 and got pitted on t2 dropping to p16 but fought back to p10.

Last race started p8 was up to p6 and on lap 3 at the final turn before the finish straight I was taken out by the same car that did me in the previous race. Down to p16 and couldn’t recover any place on lap 4 so ended p16. 🤮

I watched the replays after all of the races and the thing is, the car that took me down in the last two races was more so pushing too hard and lacking control more than intentionally punting. Still leaves me with the same hard hits to my ever so slowly ratings improvements but I now know that I can’t trust that racer in tight quarters.

Bring on the new day 😎

TM in reverse seems to allow the cars to space out better, after the first half lap, anyway.

There's no way I'd be the model, unless it's for a "big and fat" store, so "brand ambassador" or "influencer" is more like it. Where's my check, by the way?

Good. Does it affect your racing, or don't you use pedals? I don't remember.

Same here. I love the looks, but this is really the first time I've been able to use it consistently in a race.

I keep finding more and more time and love this surprise of a car! Shook off another 0.3s 🥳

I've been up even 0.6s on my new time a few times but the way I drive qualy laps in full on or nothing! 🤣 I know I can take less risks when up so much but it's not how my mind works 🫣

I'd rather be upside down and in flames then set an improved time knowing I chickened out 🤐🤪

This might be my last week as a controller user! :boggled:
My wife has bought me a racing seat/rig for my birthday - so I've ordered a Fanatec 8NM base, McLaren GT3 wheel, and loadcell pedals. A big learning curve awaits....

I'd better make the most of the dailies as my DR will likely plunge

That's awesome! Yeah, it'll probably take you a while to get used to it, but in the end you'll be better. Just remember to start off, right from the start, using one foot for the brake and the other for the gas (I'm assuming you have two feet). Have fun!

Oh yes, I had a wheel around 15 years ago and did left foot braking, but after a gap of around 10 years I came back to racing but used motion control on the PS4. I also do left foot braking on my airfield tug - but doing it in my car just doesn't feel right - weird.

Sounds like my last lobby I was in except they took me out in flames as well. :irked:

Tough crowd! But you've been there before. You can handle it.

GT7 + Wheel/cockpit + PSVR has been possibly the greatest gaming experience of my life, and I’ve been gaming since the 1980’s. I’m also, easily, 0.3 to 0.5 seconds faster per lap in VR

Thank you so much, I added them through the smartphone, hope it works...i will try them later tonight in some Dailies!

As a new wheel user...jumped on the ship precisely a week ago...it's gonna be quicker than you think! the first couple of days were rough but then it's pure fun! my suggestion: re-take a couple of driver license, the two before the super license, they gave me confidence and the right feeling with the pedals

Had many of the same guys as grumpy and normsk did in my race.
The SR ratings I’m getting matched with is what put me off since I was seeing a lot of that last night too.

A bit better this morning in B race.
Good warm up and then raced once p8 to p2 and that’s a wrap until evening. Not sure why the snap shot faded but it gives the general idea on how things went.

Time for Saturday honey do list 😂

Ahhhh I'm so annoyed with myself!!!!! 😡

I started P9 in a lobby of almost everyone being A+ with the exception of 1 or 2 drivers and myself.. I started very well and was hunting down P6 very early into the race but this guy just would not move out of the way! He brakes too late, dirties his tires, hits the barriers but always managed to be in the right place at the right time when it happened so I could not make a clean overtake, so I held back!

The cars behind me, all A+ of course, managed to close the gap and by the time I finally overtook the dude (no idea how I managed to react so fast to another mistake from his side) I was very frustrated as I knew the 2 better drivers would make life difficult.

At the very start of the final lap, I let my frustrations take over and I brake a millisecond too late and went deep, dropping a place. I then got even more upset and did the same thing after the first tunnel, meaning I finished P8 instead of P6 in a lobby of great drivers...

At least the racing was close and clean and I think I did learn a few things from them.. Patience! Hoping it pays out in the near future...

Well, in fact, no, I couldn't handle it. Would have been DFL except someone blew up right near the end.
Got to say, that today, the weekend crowd is a lot harder to race with than the midday weekday crowd.
That's my feeling too. I have no idea why it's so strange.

By the way, I'm playing around with the chart. Here's a quick and dirty example of the DR chart we talked about:

And I just discovered that I can actually shade areas of the chart, so I'll probably be able to shade each DR Letter range (I left the letters out of the vertical axis because I wanted to simplify the code while I tried this out - they're not going away, of course.)

So it looks promising.

PD make creative dailies challenge (IMPOSSIBLE).
Give me the Alphard race back or the Silvia tuning race. Most fun I've ever had on Sport.
100% agreed. The Silvia / Sileighty race at Suzuka was awesome. And it seemed to bring a great bunch of drivers together. Did about a dozen races, and literally every single one of them was clean, fair and punt-free. I miss it.

I've seen you way ahead of me in Race C a few times this week - good news if there's something slowing you down a bit!

That too was one of my favorite races once I got a good tune. It’s the one race I’ve had my most wins on so far (of course I was only a DR C back then).

Think it’s time to give up on this week’s races. Kyoto is a nightmare in any direction but I wrongly thought Trial Mountain would be okay. Have been 1.5 to 2 seconds off the pace all week, tried a bunch of cars with no improvement. Mostly starting and finishing outside the top 10.

Finally had a decent run in the older of the Audi - those 2 have been my least slow performers. Through the pack from P11, mainly from mistakes of others, and battling for 2nd at the end of the race.

Those final flatout turns have been hit-or-miss all week, couldn’t figure out a consistent line. Unfortunately this time I took a bit too much grass …

and paid the price

Back down to 11th where I clearly belong. Obviously my brain only works in the correct direction, so hopefully better luck next week when normality is restored.

It's official: This week's Trial Mountain is no longer fun. I keep getting stuck in lobbies with almost all A/A+ drivers, and I start P12-14. There's exactly 0% fun in these races, because they're dirtier at the back than any of the ones I did in the front of the pack (p1-p6).

I should probably try to knock my SR down from S, because that's probably where all the other DR/B drivers went.

I know we've discussed this ad nauseum, but I'm old and have CRS (Can't Remember Squat). What's a quick way to lower my SR without ruining other people's races? Just exit out?

Back at it tonight...a few races with highs and lows, best result a third position.
Two pole position overall but no victory, one time the opponent just made me spin, the second time was my fault...I was nervous and just made a mistake and the two behind me passed.
I'm still a high D, I could have moved to C today but I'd needed to be more consistent when leading, I often slow down becoming too much alert when driving, I need to just keep pushing and stay into the flow.

Tomorrow I'll be back with the new gtplanet suit :P

Like @GrumpyOldMan I may be done with race B. Keep getting split (mostly) A player lobbies with a few Bs (myself included) thrown in. Not much fun and bad to my DR.

However the last race was a doozy!

I'm going to do a video on it as two drivers had a "bit" of a spat! "bit" may be understatement. Let's just say that the driver who was Q1 and probably was the fastest driver on track was driving in the opposite direction to deliberately try to exact revenge on someone else. And there was a lot more beside that.

Well I used the RS10 from Renault and it gave me a good time in the 1'55.000's. It has good cornering and it is fuel efficient, easy and fun to handle. It is a pain trying to memorize the opposite of the usual track, like a mirror reflection.
