That incident at the hairpin is very common at that turn. If I’m in the RSR I routinely take a narrow entry line as that helps me rotate the car better and get out quicker, but I’ve lost count of the number of times cars in front assume I’ve dive bombed them.
Yes, I realised this was on me, the car on the inside could have been a little more understanding of the fact that I was on the racing line but it's not as if he could disappear so lack of awareness from me

Not currently. The CSL Elite V2 wac on my wishlist but I didn’t get it. That said, I have the money for it so I’ll probably order that soon. I understand the V2 is a significant upgrade over the standard load cell pedal.
I didn't get the standard load cell with my DD but went to the V2 six months later, took some getting use to, so much more feel.
Removed the gas peddle and put the clutch In its place, it gives a bit more resistance.

I thought you said that if your SR dropped to more than 2 levels below your DR, then your DR would be reduced to match.

To be clear, you're saying that even if your SR drops just 1 level below your DR, your DR will drop to match it?
No, if your SR drops below by 1 level, your DR won't drop automatically.

Here's an example of the 2-level thing that happened to me:

Is there a mechanism to report players in-game?
I was in race B earlier and accidentally sideswiped a player off-track. I play in VR and in addition to the limited peripheral vision, it’s also more difficult to make use of the radar.

He decides to revenge-punt me. Ok, it happens, it’s just one of those things.

Post-race lobby however, he decides to tag me and type “dirty homosexual”. In my world there’s no room or tolerance for this kind of homophobic language.

As this happened in-game there’s no means for me to report this via PSN despite having a screengrab as evidence. I’ve looked in GT7 and don’t see any means to look-up players and report them.

Any ideas?
For driving standards it's write their name on a piece of paper. Scrunch it up and then throw it into the bin.
For what this driver did then you can report to Sony via one of the methods Famine mentioned.
Yeah, I knew about "S" for the world-tour drivers, but I'm still confused:

Thanks in advance mate; sorry to bother you with this.

I must say, it sounds strange to me.

I was in a lobby on Saturday night where SR ratings were everything from D (or E?) to A (I was the only "S" in the lobby) and the DR's of the field were all C and B.

FWIMBW I went straight to S within a few days and have never dropped below that.
No I said 2 levels. You will not see an A/C driver because C is 2 SR levels below the top DR level.
So you can be A/S, A/A or A/B. Once you hit A/C you'll be C/C.

You will not see an A/C driver because C is 2 SR levels
This is actually possible, but unlikely, unless there's a significant change from GT Sport (which doesn't appear to be the case, although there appears to be two related changes).

To my recollection your SR can fall two and a half levels before your DR is reset down to meet it. That means you could fall to the top of SR C and retain your DR A rank. However the entire range of C SRs is covered by... I think just 19 points - 20-39; I think @sturk0167 posted the GTS ranges a few days back but of course GT7 no longer has any way to see these figures directly - so you'd need to fall a lot but also only a specific amount into the 30-39-point range.

GT7's two changes are that your DR bar now incorrectly displays if your rank is limited by your SR, and that it appears a DR reset is a cosmetic rank change without a points reset - as players report being reinstated to their DR rank once their SR is no longer limiting it.

@Famine Your impersonator was out in force in the dailies this evening
I love this guy. He's way more obsessed about certain things about me than is healthy (but curiously misses some obvious things that would help his fraud be more convincing) and isn't really fooling anyone - I'm crap and there's simply no way I'd be fast enough to be in with A+ drivers

Anyone he does fool who gets angry enough to come here just gets us more traffic - hateclicks are the best kind of clicks - especially as they quickly discover how good a community this place is, largely due to how we don't tolerate homophobic and racist (and other discriminatory) asshats like that guy.

It's free advertising - and free rent in his head!

I dunno how or why but just yesterday I jumped up to an S SR rating and C for DR. The difference in the lobbies with the S SR rating will be the best thing for my driver rating because these people are on a whole different level. It's a pleasure to race against people who actually respect the track and the other drivers. Good manners really do pay off here. I've really started to enjoy the dailies on tracks I prefer.

Also. I don't know how common it is but I started playing the GT series from the very beginning. I've always had a PlayStation just because of GT. It's about the only game I play. I have always used the D-pad and the X for accel and square for brake. I gave the analog stick a month and kind of felt like I hit a wall with my times (literally, figuratively, whatever 😂😂) and for the heck of it tried the d-pad and x and square for accel and brake. I absolutely am seconds faster with the D-pad and significantly more accurate. I think until I can swing the wheel I want I'm gonna continue being a luddite because it just works for me. There can't be too many of us left who play this way.

Anyway, again, you guys are a great help and resource for making this old man a better racer. I appreciates that.

I was there using controller with x, square and d-pad for steering too with pretty much only playing Gt for gaming. Missed gt6 and GTS due to life changes but enjoyed the online in gt5 with seasonal events, online dealership, tt and didn’t really do much for the daily races.

A couple months after getting gt7 I had progressed to DR B and felt like a good next step would be a wheel.

Definitely feel like it helped me beyond where I was at and adding VR when it came out, not only helped with immersion in the game but my consistency has improved as well.

There are many really good players on controller all the way into A+ and I have a lot of respect for anyone who can race using one because I personally feel like I had hit the wall in my abilities once in DR B.

Main reason we do this is for fun and stress relief so just have fun and don’t lose perspective. 😁

Absolutely agree. It's just for fun and because I can't afford a track car this is about as close as I'll ever get to real road racing. I'll have a wheel soon and honestly can't wait but I'm glad I'm actually competitive at my level even with a dualsense. Part of my other problem is that I don't consistently have time to dedicate. I lose my mojo after about two or three days without a race. I've got to work on finding a little time more often to keep me square.

Yes, I realised this was on me, the car on the inside could have been a little more understanding of the fact that I was on the racing line but it's not as if he could disappear so lack of awareness from me
Yes, I wasn’t suggesting anyone was particularly at fault. As you said it’s a racing incident. I’m never upset when I get contact from the outside there because it’s almost never intentional and usually has very little impact on the car.

Just that I find the racing line for that corner is actually very different for different cars, and the MR cars in particular are much faster through there going narrow.

I've played since the beginning as well, the change from the face buttons to triggers was awkward for me but with the feedback the dualsense offers it's definitely a better experience in terms of finer control and feedback from the car.

Thankfully I had a dualshock with my purchase of GT1 so always used the analog stick for steering. Also tried analog for braking and acceleration but never got along with it and never suited my style!

But as others had said, enjoyment is the most important thing and if looks like it works, feels like it works, then it works.

On topic, have come across the Famine imposter a few times, it's a shame he's taken to trolling and ruining people's races because he's more than quick enough to play the game at a high level. It's a shame the penalty system for the most part lets players get away with anything but the most egregious punts or squeezes

Yessir! I saw that. I'm pretty set on at least the 923 if not something a little better than that. I'd rather invest than replace at a future date. Things are slow at work currently so I'm just trying to conserve for now. I'll have a SIM setup soon!

Thank you for sharing that.

It may be a little while until I'm race ready again. I got a new toy today that at first will make me probably slower so I've got to learn it.. Still it's going top be fun in the long run :D

You’re not allowed to call out driver names, generalize nationalities or race. However if you have video that happens to demonstrate what transpired that happens to have name or nationality on it then that’s okay.
I'm waiting on that exact same box to arrive! 😬 The seat and wheel is raring to go!

Well I'm definitely slower at the moment! LOL. But I think a lot of that is adjusting back to a non load-cell pedal until I decide on getting the CSL Elite V2. That said, the brake for what it is, is definitely better than the stock G29 brake. Not up to a load-cell though.

BUT, mine might only be the 5NM but after I finally figured out position and how to mount it on my Playseat, that first drive, after coming from a G29, you are like "Wow". The smoothness and feedback, and oh, my arms are going to ache with this force... :D Currently I'm glad I did not get the 8NM upgrade. I need time to work up to that...

I think everyone should dive the way that lets them have the most fun. So by all means, continue as you are. The only downside is that it's possible, in the long run, that you'd have more fun playing it differently. But don't change anything because someone else tells you to do it.

It's funny - I have my force feedback turned way down. I never felt like it made me faster, and my arms did indeed get quite fatigued. With that said, I'm going to increase the feedback and see if it makes any difference, now that I've had the wheel for months. We'll see how it goes.

I mean I could literally have any rig I currently wanted, I'm just tighter than tight. I don't spend money on things that aren't necessary often.

OK! Honest opinions needed as I am absolutely furious right now... With a 1:26:102 time I started P14 in a lobby full of A+ drivers at Sardegna. 3 major incidents I was involved in, which I think I am not to blame for, with the 3rd being the one that ruined everything!

Incident 1 - Lap 1, end of sector 1
I am down to P14 after a blistering start from a Ferrari which overtook me cleanly. We get to the downhill right-hander at the very start of sector 2 and I am towards the end of a group of at least 6 cars. Right before the turn, I get bumped from behind and lose a bit of grip but I managed to hold it. However, the 2 cars right in front of me hit each other and I had nowhere to go. He was already on the way out but I had no time to react and helped him spin out by making unavoidable contact.

Incident 1 - Lap 1, end of sector 2
Just 3 corners later, I catch up to the car in front who is going slow and we are heading into the sharp, left turn which gets us on the way to the fast corners prior to the main straight. I am on the inside and literally side by side. Instead of taking the long way round on the outside, as I clearly had the corner, he just turns into me and loses the car. I pass without issue and go on.

Incident 1 - Lap 5, end of sector 2
I am now in P9 and less than 2 seconds from P6, who makes a mistake and is collected by P7 (a black/red Supra) who in turn is and also hit by P8 in front of me. He hits the barrier a few times, is clearly going super slow and with damage and most importantly, is on the far end of the dirty line heading into the hard braking zone to turn right. Literally 15 feet from the braking zone, he zips onto the racing line with me coming at full speed and just 2 car lengths behind!!

I obviously cannot do anything, slam into him and we both are in the gravel. I have damage and also get a complimentary 4 second penalty from PD. Lovely. I finish in P12 and am furious because, at least to me, this was a blatant block and epic serving of unsportsmanship behaviour!

Any comments/ thoughts on the above? Am I right to be angry and claim innocence in all occasions?

With my my 1:26.440, I just started P12 in the same kind of lobby - I guess I should quit complaining - it could have been worse. As for your being angry, I totally understand, was there yesterday (or maybe the day before), and all I can say is, getting angry didn't help me any. But I'm totally with you, believe me.

I do remember one time a few days ago when I was on the grass, and all of a sudden I had traction again and zipped right out in front of some people causing a major accident. It was my fault, and yet it wasn't, because nobody would have guessed I'd gain traction like that. Or maybe I should have known it would - I don't know. In any case, I'm sure I ruined a few people's race that day.

I mean I could literally have any rig I currently wanted, I'm just tighter than tight. I don't spend money on things that aren't necessary often.
My wife is like that. I, on the other hand, am the opposite. Fortunately we balance each other (for 37 years). As for my racing rig, I spend enough time in it that its cost per hour of entertainment must be down into the pennies. Makes me want to lean over and pet it, and say "who's a good rig?" to it. OK, that last part was disturbing.

GT will not allow me to run QT. Whenever it starts, it puts the wheels up on the curb and crashes out! :banghead: I told you race B this week hates me.:D

Bet you $50 your controller is upsidedown or resting against something and is yanking hard right.
No it was not. But I think you are onto something!

I've been playing around with the advanced settings on my new GT DD Pro wheel following some settings on the DD Pro forum. One of the settings removes the self centering of the wheel. I bet my wheel was 360 degrees out of position...

Hey, I converted to DD Pro about a month ago and after 1,000,900 config attempts, this has been really the best setup for me. Try it if you want, hope it helps!

Great, I'll give it a try. I saw that you like Abarth_71's settings initially but try some of those makes the DD feel a bit like a G29. Not sure if that was my intention when I upgraded.

Oh, and I just ordered the CSL Elite V2 pedals. I'm missing my load-cell already..

Yep, those I found best for ultra-fast steering, like Gr1 and Formula 2 or whatever they are 🤣 the pic I sent you is great for Gr3 and Gr4, I just increase the FFB and FFS for the controller settings in GT7 to 7/7 for Gr4 as they need a bit more persuading to turn and react to faster corners 🤣

So what did you go to for rig?
I got the GT Omega Prime, and it's awesome.

Well, except for one thing. The seatback can be reclined, and the reclining lever had a tendency to squeak. I spent months working with their support on this problem. They even sent me a new lever mechanism, and it solved the problem for a while, but it started up again. So since I'm a woodworker, I solved the problem myself:

1689281890036.png

Honestly, I think the issue is that I'm a little too "wide-bodied" for this chair, and I should have gotten the wider chair. But it works great with this fix, as long as someone doesn't need to change the reclining angle.

I just ran your settings with 5/1 for the controller and they gave a serious amount of "heft" to the feel of the car. I tried race B QT and took .2s off my Lancer best, then went with the NSX and took another .6s off for a 1:27 dead. Found myself to be much more consistent in car placement and actually I was really impressed with the pedals. Even for basic they are so much better than the G29 pedals. I was able to trail brake and hit threshold braking much more reliability than I expected. Perhaps I didn't need the V2 pedals after all? But too late, already ordered!

I would suggest matching the sensitivity with your FFB setting on controller, it balances your input against the reaction time in-game.

I also forgot to get the load cell, but I did get the 8nm upgrade which I like as even in real life, the feel of what the steering communicates back to me is probably what I use the most when cornering and changing speed.

The standard pedals of DD Pro were a massive upgrade from what I had in the G29 but I'm tempted to find out what the load cell can do 😉
