@GrumpyOldMan just saw you in a race. Did you get squeezed into that wall or just kind of run into it?
I was just plain stupid. I was battling another guy, and forgot about how easy it is to drift over to the wall there. By the time I realized it, I was lucky to salvage anything at all.

There was plenty of bumping going on, but honestly, none of it would have happened if I had driven better. I just wasn't very crisp, and kept giving other people a chance.

Hey @TechnoIsLove, when I look at your friend status, it says you haven't played in 19 days. Are you using another account?

Difficult week for me in Sport Mode, I can't really fathom how to get a decent QT time in race B so...I always start in the middle of the pack and get in the destruction derby started by other users, I'm a SR S ratings since my second day in sport mode but it's really a pain to get crashed everytime...this week is like every race that I'm in has a lot of crazy users, a pity.
Done 4 races, even a last position result, a couple I managed to get back to the middle...try again this night

We all have tough weeks. Stick in there!

I know we're not supposed to use partially censored swear words, so you'll just have to read between the lines. Because some -*** ******* of a puny-****** driver decided to show his insignificant ** to the rest of the world when he ran into my *-****** rear end, brake-checked me, and did it again.

I tried to exact revenge, but was thwarted my the ******* racing gods who decided that revenge is there's not mine. Well, **** them and the horses they rode in on.

That is all.

I’ve made some progress not gripping the steering wheel so hard that my hand hurts, but only in certain game modes. In single player races or time trials or circuit experiences I do OK but when I compete in the daily races I get so into it I can’t help it, particularly when I almost crash (usually because of a scuffle between cars ahead of me) I literally am white knuckled on the wheel and on the brake pedal so hard it’s like I’m going to drive it right through the floor. No other game has ever given me a rush like this but if I can’t figure out a way to not grip the wheel so hard I’m going to have to stop playing the game for a month or two for my hand to recuperate.

In through the nose, out through the mouth.

I can't seem to find any more qualifying pace on Race B this week and my 1:26.7 is giving me middle of the pack starts mostly, in B lobbies. I've been getting decent results tonight though, with one P3 qualy in which I held onto that the whole time.

The 2 most recent races I've gone from 10-4 and 8-3. My race pace seems better than my qualifying tonight, which is working out alright.

Followed those up with a P6 to P2 finish and I might be climbing my way back to A for a little bit.

I decided that I'd go until I finish lower than P8 tonight, and thought that I was going to when I started P14 in a tough looking lobby. To my surprise, I found myself in P6 at the checkered flag.

Never ever seen 3200 in a race since I started tracking. I’ve lost 1600 in one race on Monday but I typically get the slog going up 🙁

Congratulations on the great races tonight 🍻

I've found a real mix of demolition derbys and awesome clean races in B this week, regardless of starting position too. I think sometimes you just get lucky, and sometimes one person's mistake can trigger pile-ups way back into the field.

Had a mixed night myself yesterday. Jumped on a race C to get going, started 5th on RM. Got a really good exit from the chicane at the end of lap 1 and passed 4th on the way into the tunnel. 3rd place made a mistake into the first hairpin and got sideways against the barrier, which put me third after a lap and a quarter.

Chased after 1st and 2nd who were having a great battle but couldn't quite pass. They both pit earlier leaving me the lead, so I went 1 more lap. Came out in second with a car just about visible in my mirrors and no sign of first. Turned out he pitted on the next lap so I just had to hold on to the end to start the night with a win.

Of course it went downhill after that!

Two goes at race C. Starting 9th and got wiped out in what turned out to be a racing incident (didn't feel like it at the time though!) and finished 11th.

Then I started 10th, had a great race up to 6th and got stuck behind a laggy driver. At one point I passed him and he jumped back in front of me. So I couldn't work out where he was going to be next and that allowed 7th and 8th to pass, but they couldn't get past him either. It put us all really close and on the final chicane, they went side by side with a little door bumping. I made the most of a clean run at it and we went across the line 3 wide, less than a tenth apart, and with me stealing 7th. 😁

That was a brilliant clean race, really close, great awareness, barely any contact at all. I guess you never know what you'll get next, which is what makes it so addictive for me.

Had a great first race in B last night (main account) started P6 finished P4 with very clean racing. Second race started P5, left T1 in P16, a Supra with no brakes took me across the sand into the wall, had damage all around.
He left the lobby immediately at the finish 😠 he did get a 5 second penalty.
In better news ran 3 QT laps on alt account for a 1.25.838
That was me done for the night.

GT will not allow me to run QT. Whenever it starts, it puts the wheels up on the curb and crashes out! :banghead: I told you race B this week hates me.:D

So what did you go to for rig?

I've had the same but to the left before. I tried everything to no avail until I saw that the power cable had unplugged itself from the block on the cable. Plugger her back in and she was fine after. Thankfully nobody was around to see.

People asking for road car races yet when we have them they don’t know how to drive them. Case in point, daily A now. Horrible.

I don't understand how people can type into the chat while driving. I understand that the car will auto-drive itself, but still, it's got to cost you time. Y'all must be way faster at typing than I am.
I agree! I have to wait til after a race to apologise, unless I'm at a dead stop or in penalty zone.
There were two guys racing out front and still managing to message yesterday - how does that work?

Yeah that tends to happen when they remove any incentive to drive properly from the race. Most people asking for road car races (me) want actual races, not unranked demolition derbies.
Plus, when top split is 10 B's, 1 A and me, I tend to not bother.

Many misunderstandings could have been avoided if PD allowed in-game voice chat. Sure we would have had a lot of microphone abuse...but still, I know it's a game changer. It's also nice to laugh with others during races (I've had lots of fun in FM lobbies since 2009)

Absolutely agree.

First of all, it would always be optional, so if people didn't like what they hear, they don't have to listen. Secondly, they could always permanently mute drivers they don't like to listen to.

Hearing people's voice is so much better than just text. It might get a little confusing since someone at the front could say "Sorry" and the guy at the back might wonder "who said sorry, and was that directed at me?", but still, it would be great. I can imagine laughing my ass off during races!

With all that said, it would probably affect latency during the races, and that would be bad.

I've done it once. I'd been wiped out and was last with race done so didn't care. Auto drive costs you a lot of time. Still I ended up picking up 2 more spots through attrition so even if you think you are done you can't be on chat for long to project your "tame" abuse (** tame as PS5 doesn't allow any word that is remotely sensitive or "rude" so you have to get creative). Having a keyboard helps but I'm still slow as my keyboard is not attached to my rig.

I did not know this but I just looked it up but apparently the PS has a voice to text dictation that can be used in messages (https://www.androidcentral.com/how-use-voice-dictation-ps5-messages). No idea if this works in GT7.

But how will Sony censor you when you call someone a "horse's ass" in US English or even "horse's arse" in colonial English? :D How will I know if someone is cussing me out in Portuguese or Spanish? I only speak three languages: American, British and Australian. All of them badly.. :D

Voice chats amongst strangers who are competing against each other, usually turns toxic pretty quickly.
Have you ever heard the things people say during GTA Online?

Sure, there would be some positives, but also lots of stuff that we don't want to hear.
