The game simply does not consistently give you the same car.
Experienced this myself this week. I've been running the RCZ at Grand Valley (Race C) - in some races it only gets up to 5th gear on the start/finish straight each lap, and then in some races it changes up to 6th gear (obviously this is with AT!).

It doesn't matter whether you're getting a tow from a car in front, it's either 5th gear or 6th gear every lap of the race....

That's the wind direction

There's nothing in the game that would signify there are dynamic elements to the cars performance. If a car works to X power, it will work at X power.
The track conditions are all that vary in that regard.
Everything has identical performance under BoP and there's nothing to suggest otherwise.

As I said though, the small changes in the track, its condition, the wind, the temperature, the ambient temperature etc. - all do effect how a car drives and performs and for whatever reason not all of that is consistent between qualifying sessions. But the car itself doesn't change. Even bad oil etc. doesn't matter in BoP, as the cars are hard set to default settings and that overrides any overarching performance impacts from the cars condition.

I was in a B lobby 10 minutes ago and everybody got disconnected. I saw 6-7 names appearing in the chat (meaning the all left) before I got an error and got removed from the lobby too.
I hope this is an isolated event.
PS4, EU region.

I am at GrumpyOldMan levels of frustration and swearing right now.

Did Race B on my UK account and Race C on my US account. Both races I'm top 6 qualifying and in both instances I'm like 4th when the game of billiards starts with me as the white ball. Someone hits me or dive bombs me throwing me off and it is like a pack of hyenas on a dying gazelle. What makes people think that just because someone has been knocked off pace (by some other bad egg) that it is okay to also hit them.

I actually quit race C as I was so far back. I swear I was hit on every corner and then in my anger I accidentally hit don't refuel before I selected tires in the pit so I had to pit a second time. Never been close to being lapped before (especially starting Q4). It was one of the worse races I've experienced for a long time.

Nothing much to report today in terms of races. Did a few at Sardegna and after the first race, I found myself once again in the A+ lobbies, which was fun.

Managed to gain 2 or 3 positions at the end of each race but that being said, my best starting position was P9 so only managed top 6 once.

I did put some effort just now in the qualy laps, after a certain Mr @kowalski__1 messaged late last night with his latest time 🤣 Your move, bro 🤪

EDIT - I meant you @Leon Kowalski 🤣

I'm happy to find myself in the top 600 on a Saturday night (just barely) but my friend leaderboard has the usual 2 suspects ahead of me by ten years in terms of their lap times 🤣

Lol, I think you have the wrong Kowalski....I didn't message you....

Not my finest hour. I finally completely lost it in race B and full-speed rammed an Italian Ferrari before rage-quitting (they had been trying to pit me the lap before so not a completely innocent party).

That dropped me down to DR C (though I did keep my S for sportsmanship ). Probably where I belong on pace for these races. In B I was starting at the back and barely making progress - first race back in C (at GVH1) I started 6th and made my way up to 2nd, in a NSX against the Supra/911 masses.

I was in that race with you on my Alt account, saw you call out to GTP members just to late before the race started.
Watched the replay and saw the said culprit nibbling at you for a few corners trying to spin you, that was a nice take out.

I was on pole, took win and fastest lap.

Ah. Thats why you say at least 1 full round on the daily race news articles.
Grand Valley seemed the perfect track for gaming that strategy.
Yup - you have to cross the start-finish on-track at least once, so you can't pit on lap zero (before you cross the line for the first time) or at the end of the final lap.

Here's a perfect example of how you can lie with statistics, er - pictures:

So it looks like I won two races in a row (because I posted a win pic previously today). What this doesn't show is the DNF I had in between, starting from P2. The guy in front hit the brakes way too early going into T8 on lap 1, and there was no way I could avoid him. When the dust cleared, I had a 5 second penalty because the guy in front was an idiot (although I've been that guy before, so I shouldn't complain).

By the time my penalty was served, I was DFL. I managed to get back up to P9, no thanks to two idiots who WOULD NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY! Then someone lost it a little on T8 (again) and I made the wrong choice of which side of him to take, and that was the end of my race.

Not complaining, really, just pointing out that a couple of wins doesn't mean the day has been perfect. Yeah, I know, you really feel sorry for me.

This post didn't come out the way I intended when I started it, but who cares.

I am at GrumpyOldMan levels of frustration and swearing right now.
I know they say that misery loves company, but if this is what it looks like, I'll take loneliness.
Big R&C fan as well. Didn't even bother trying to buy a PS5 until R&C came out.
Ditto.

Ah, a fellow red-mister. I'm a lot better than I was earlier this year, but it still happens to me too. "It's only a game. It's only a game." Yeah, right.

Hopped back on Race B today & put in some hot laps with the NSX. Managed a 1:26.479 in quali which was faster than my previous time in the Mclaren by about .300, good enough for p1 - 4 most of the time in lower B lobbies. I really got confident with the NSX & started to gel nicely with that car. Managed to get my 1st W in an all B rated lobby. 2nd win in Sport

Guys seems like you're all doing great tonight!

Good day for me too, I did a bunch of races finally DR C ranked and the behaviour was really better than in the D world...I know, I know, there are bad/crazy users everywhere at every level, and obviously there were touches and crashes also today, but I can tell you that the D world is a jungle, also in the S lobby, is wild, is like your only target is to survive and finish without being crashed several times.

So....not a bad day at all, the fact is that right now my honest place is the middle of the pack of the C rank, my pace is that, and I'm quite happy for now, am happy too about the fact that I had some very fair fights with other users..I like to race, I wanna improve, I'm ok being overtaken, not ok when I'm being destroyed just for the sake of it.

Using the great GrandTracker app I'm at 7720 point right now, but with the change of track on monday it will be really hard to keep the ranking, I still need lots of time to learn a track well enough to have a good QT...lets see how it goes

Gonna try a couple race C’s now, what’s the strategy for it?

I’ve had luck with starting near the front with using racing medium tires and just trying to go like one lap longer before I pit than everybody. So far it’s worked and put everybody into traffic and give me a little more time.
6-8 laps RM. then pit. Don’t take any fuel 🍻

Congrats on the second win. I guess the moral is that I just need to keep at it. It's accepting the risk that with this week's B, you can do very well but it only takes one bad situation for it to end your race. The trouble for me is that the risk of ruin is not worth the risk of reward this week.

I'm also a little gun shy as I am still figuring out my new wheel. It feels great but also weird at the same time as I start to get used to it and that may not be helping my racing. I think the pedals brake differently than what I am used to and that may be why so many people are currently rear ending me. I'm getting faster lap runs when QTing but it's killing my race as I get punted off...

What a bizarre week. I've got 5 wins and 2 second places. But also... well, it's a mess:

I think what it really shows is that I don't have much racecraft. 4 of my 5 wins where when I started on Pole, which is all about getting a decent QT, and I guess I run fairly well when I'm out in front.

Otherwise, not so much. If I started P3 or lower, I only gained ground 3 times.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, wins are awesome. On the other hand, put me in a crowd and I'm more likely to be the guy you go flying by when I end up in the sand or grass.

It turns out that statistics aren't all they're cracked up to be - sometimes, ignorance is bliss.

Race C has been great for me this week. I've done probably 10 races and have gotten top 5 every race but 1, in which I got 6th. No victories but I'll definitely take this, pretty much all of my races have been clean, for me at least. I've seen some bad driving but I've managed to avoid it.

Started with just a sliver in DR B rating after getting there for the first time last week (and coming in last my first DR B race), now climbing pretty steadily though the ranks. Really enjoying this race, as a bonus it's great practice for round 6 of the GT Cup, which I didn't realize until yesterday.

Edit: had another race, first that didn't go too well this week. Started I think P9, around lap 5 2 guys were fighting in that downhill section into the hairpin, one guy pushed the other off track, and he overcorrected when coming back on track and slammed into me throwing me off track (I gave plenty of space, but yeah seemed unintentional trying to get back on quick. Threw me back a good number of positions, cost me about 7s. Last lap got a bit sketchy, I tried making a few moves to get around a guy I was definitely faster pace but couldn't get by, and finished P10. Lots of chaos that race all around, saw so many yellow flags.

Saw @TheNormsk in that race, didn't get the chance to say hey, hope your new wheel is treating you well!

Well I'm a dumbass.

I threw away a win and a top 4 finish by my own foolery. Race C was unfortunate but Race B was just pathetic.

Race B
I was Q2 and passed P1 on turn 1. After that I had easy drive also setting fastest lap (at one point) but with a 4.5 second lead I did this.

I ended up coming in 2nd but it would have been an easy win. It was mine to throw away and I did. What happened I was like "I've got plenty of time so I'll just take it easy into the uphill to not mess up". So what happened, I came in too slow, turned in too soon and was shallow and then understeered towards the gravel. It probably would have been fine but I had a mind fart, thinking I would go int the gravel so I hit the brake (to slow it down) but instead slid off into the gravel. It was like a slow-mo train wreck. I should have just attacked it at full speed!

Race C
All I had to do was keep it on track to finish 4th.. Then I got stuck. Pathetic :banghead:

So those culminated an evening of lowering my DR. All the races I should have had top 6 position but either through "aggressive" driving by others punting me out or some tomfoolery on my part, I ended up last a lot of the evening. All in all over 6 races I dropped from a 54% B to a 44% B. Not a great end to the day.
