Question:
If i would quit a race, i would loose DR + SR, right? But what happens if i am so slow (for example staying in the pit to not bother anyone around) that i can't finish the race due to the one something minutes passing after the winner hits the finish line? Will i still loose SR?
If you are able to stay in the pit lane (I am not sure it will allow you) you SR should not drop if you make it to the end of the race. You'll be recorded as a DNF which would impact your DR but I believe your SR will be unaffected. Unfortunately you also can't leave the car in auto as that has a time limit (something like 30 seconds) before you get disqualified. I found that out tonight ^^^
You will be classified as last of the finishers and will be placed above any DNF's. So you'll loose DR based on your position as normal but your SR should be fine.
People use this all the time to avoid the extra SR loss.

That's not the optimum strategy.

It guards you for a few corners, but your exits are so compromised you either invite over optimistic overtakes that end in tears or they will just line you up for the straights.

What is the problem with letting a more faster or aggressive driver through?

Worst case scenario is you lose a place but your race pace keeps you closer to the front?

Best case scenario is you back the people up behind your off racing slower lines?

We just have very different reasons we race and what for I guess. Horses for courses.
I think this touches on the very multidimensional nature of different peoples' attitudes to racing. On the one hand, I agree with allowing an excessively aggressive driver through BUT what if they aren't that at all but slightly careless and chasing a little too close? On the other, you have the moral 'limit' of each individual... Let's say there's someone following you, matching pace lap after lap, never getting a clean opportunity for a pass. After 20 or so minutes of frustration, they may just get a nose in and there may be contact but they get the position and their eagerness to win just about overrides their moral compass after so much time committed to the cause.

What I'm trying to say is our perceptions of each competitor is based on very little evidence (and much assumption), and in that sense we have to do what we think is best in each situation.

The beauty of racing, I guess!
It is a blast and will be much missed. Hopefully they'll bring the Radical's round again sooner next time, Watkins Glen could be a good playground for them.
To be honest, I'm just hyped at the appearance of production cars in a ranked race. As much as I'm loving this car in particular, what I wouldn't give to experience competitive racing in some of the other hundreds of them in the game. The standard has been really high!!

How do extensively search for the ghosts you want, like I'm trying to find one next to my time in the Maggoire TT, around 0'52.925. Can someone help me here? And for the daily races as well. I'm not gonna bother with the Atlanta one, 13 laps there would not be fun for me and I'm not really skilled there either, so i'll pass.
Have you tried the search feature in Showcase? There's lots of options available.
and dropped my DR back to a C
I don't understand why you're not ahead of me, DR-wise. And I'm not just talking this week, but overall. Your times are usually better than mine, right? What's the difference?

I would not say that. Your QT were often ahead of mine. Only recently, am I beginning to equal or beat your QT.

Part of it could also be that some races I shy away from but, as I think you have proven out, sometimes you get the most gain by sticking with it and not quitting out when it sometimes gets bad. Two bad races can then lead into three good ones, but if you quit after 2 you won't get the gain. Damn, I sound like a gambler at the craps table....

As for the racing, I would say my qualifying to race ratio is highly skewed towards the qualifying. I enjoy seeing where my time stacks up against others on the leaderboard among others and this is perhaps a reason I have been focusing on the time trials more recently (my goal is to gold each one - not sure I will do that with Spa this week). Now in the actual race I am still held back by my race craft. Generally I have pace for top 6 finishing, but I am still not great at overtaking (as I don't want to be that a-hole that side swipes others when passing). Most gains are still though attrition ahead of me. Passing without incident is beginning to improve, I noted some significant progress there in the last month, but I think I still have a long way to go. The reality is that now I'm in mid/high DR B lobbies, I can no longer rely on attrition so much so I have to improve my passing skills. Guess that only comes with experience.

After following along with this thread at work this week, I think I'll be abstaining from racing this weekend once I'm off. Sounds like Race B, which is probably what I'd settle into, is a bit of a mess and once again just too short.

This was the cause for my 5 second penalty last night. What do you think?

This is my win from pole yesterday. Was not straight-forward as had P2 and P3 constantly within a second behind me. P2 also had a good go at me on the final lap and I only managed to get away on the final chicane heading into the straight to the finish line.

Happy I kept my nerves this time 😀
Well done. That shark livery is awesome!

It's getting really really frustrating with my pedals at the moment grrrr

For some reason the brake starts to register presses. So for example I'm going down a straight and the ABS light will be flickering and you can see 5-10 pixels of flicker in the brake bar.

Other times it's the throttle doing the opposite and not able to reach 100% or flickering from 100-98%

Both of these issues kill your maximum speed making you a sitting duck :(

I check the game calibration settings and sometimes they are fine and other times flickering like they do in the race.

Quitting a restarting solves it most times but it's frustrating.

Any ideas peeps?

Can't comment on the actual pedals - perhaps you have dirt ingress in the pots and they need cleaning, but have you tried recalibrating in GT7 Options. Set the min brake to be higher than 5% so it does not register (Perhaps you are resting your foot on the pedal?). Reduce the max for the accelerator.

Will give that a go, but it doesn't explain the throttle flickering and not staying 100%
That could be a pot issue. Apparently they are a simple pot so you may need to try to clean them, or replace the pot. There's some threads around the internet for doing that. For now you could just set your max acceleration to 98% to see if that helps.

Thank you.

I have the max set to 98% for both but no min.

The fact they both do it and a restart resolves the issue is the bit that bugs me. If it was dirt/hair/dust etc I would have expected it to be consistent.

It "seems" mostly to happen if I leave the PS on or use rest mode. But even going from TT to daily races it can happen. I don't think it's just a sensor/pressure issue

But that's just me guessing.

My first win at Road Atlanta!

After many, many turn 1 disasters (mostly not my fault), accidents at various points on the first two laps (mostly my fault) and pit entry penalties (100% my fault), I finally brought home the bacon.

I was equal to both Q1 and Q2, despite the 0.4 disparity in our qualifying times, but somewhere along the way they must've made mistakes because their early pitting allowed me to gap considerably. For the first time I ended up on a late-pit strategy, and as I came in on lap 12 I awaited my fate. As I returned to the track, the fastest of my opponents was more than 2 seconds behind me. Not a gimme by any means but I was totally relieved nonetheless.

(featuring an unorthodox DualSense USB cable plugging-in moment during one of the long straights because I got really worried by the low battery warning)

I AM DONE WITH SPORT MODE UNTIL EXPLOITS ARE FIXED!

If you look at the screenshot, I started in P8 as the fastest A-rated DR driver, with everyone above being A+ and absolutely everyone in the lobby having an S rating for sportsmanship.

You'd think this would be a good race, right? An opportunity to challenge yourself against a lobby full of fast and fair drivers... Dream on!

Firstly, even the track limits detection is broken. I enter the double chicane at the end of lap one 2 places ahead from my starting position. As you can clearly see, I never have all tires even close to being outside of the limits but nope, penalty!

Then, back down to P8, the real fun begins! Hard-hitting punts with no penalties for the offender! Not just at me, but at others at the top as well... I think I went past 4 others who were facing the wrong way after being pitted or shoved!

I managed to partially survive the bashing but on the final lap and final chicane, it finally happened and I crossed the line dead last in P16 after the latest hit buried me in a pile of poo 💩⚰️💔

Will try the 2nd account tomorrow as I always seem to start top 4 but from now on, will only be doing qualy laps and time trials on main account until PD fix this rubbish!

@TechnoIsLove You took almost the exact same line through the bus stop as the car ahead of you, but nobody ahead of you got a penalty. I can understand your frustration and expect you may be waiting a while to return to sport mode if you expect it to be fixed. On lap 3 coming out of the infield, I think the guy in the GT just missed his braking point and then the second bump may have been intended to get you some lost speed back. Turn 1 on lap 4 definitely looked like you were just the other guy's brakes, which leads me to believe that his earlier bump may have been less than benevolent. Bus stop on lap 4 reaffirms those suspicions and confirms that my decision to not participate this week was the right one.

Sorry to hear that. Since there's no chance they'll be fixed, I guess that means you're done, period. I understand, but I'm saddened.

If it's any consolation, this week's Race B has been brutal and regularly unfair to me too. Oddly enough, my attitude is doing OK. I know going in that the chances of me getting knocked off the track are high, so I've been trying to figure out if there's a way to avoid a lot of the mayhem. Sometimes I can see it coming and avoid it, sometimes not. But it's an interesting challenge, and while it's costing my DR quite a bit, it's somehow kind of fun. I must be a masochist.

It is incredibly similar to being hooked on gambling. I never noticed it before, but you're right. "Just one more and I know I can get back everything I lost!"

I definitely enjoy qualifying. It's only up to me, and not the other idiots on the track. (Notice I said "other idiots" - I qualify as an idiot plenty of times).

I'm pretty-much the same way. The times I move up in positions are because of people making big mistakes in front of me, usually when they crash. I also have problems passing people because I don't want to be a jerk.

Interestingly enough, when I feel like someone caused me to lose a ton of positions, and the red mist flows so much that I want to catch up to the SOB who did it to me, I'll pass anyone anywhere. And a lot of the times the passes end up being clean. I should go back and look at the replays and see what I can learn from that.

I know where you're coming from in terms of anticipating moves coming your way.

But usually the reason they're coming in the first place is because they cannot handle the fact you overtook them or they tried to punt you and they missed, so they come back harder but dumber..

This race in particular, and a few others on my 2nd account - the filth was just that, pure, unprovoked filth.

My only hope of PD sorting it out is panic when Forza comes out but I HIGHLY doubt they will even bat an eye 😢

Guyssssssssss here I ammmmm :D

So, today I wanted to do a fair after dinner couple of hours of online racing but, as always, I had highs and lows....
I'm pretty ok with the results on the Daytona race, my note says:
21:30 Q8 F4
21:50 Q6 F13
22:10 Q4 F4
23:10 Q7 F9

I had two good races, as you can see, and a couple of tough one...in the almost hour of break I did a little bit of grinding on Sardegna 800 with the Mazda 787B cause I saw that in the low-B S european lobby was 3-4 ****** users having fun crashing around in the middle of the pack, without any reason cause I saw them dump the guy in front of me and finish off the track themselves...just for the sake of it, mah.
So I took an hour break hoping to have a good chance of a clean lobby and instead I found another situation on the edge but I managed to save a fair P9...

Low of the night: can't improve my 1:47:120 QT, tried in every possible way, in a couple of time I was slightly ahead but then...sbang, I lost the good chance at the final S turn...only the wheel knows how I felt in that moment :P:P

This may be the worst penalty Gran Turismo has ever issued!
This is so bad. The poor guy in front of me did absolutely nothing wrong, and got a 5 second penalty.
I would have been so upset if I were him.

Figure it out, PD.

Without any reason....I had a 1sec penalty tonight after a similar situation, they just pushed me over the turn at the S turn before the final straight...just because :indiff:

That is about the same that happened to me last night. I posted mine above. That corner has really wonky penalties being applied.

This was the cause for my 5 second penalty last night. What do you think?
Looks like a punt to me.

Unlucky as it was a side impact, but irrespective of what went on beforehand, you did make significant contact and may not have made the corner without it.

Well, whaddaya know? Miracles still happen! And sorry about the ugly greenish paint color - in the cloudy lighting at Daytona this week, it looks much better. I was tired of all the white cars, that look more grey than white in the cloudy conditions.

What are you talking about? He was the last guy to touch the car that went off track. OK, he touched it as much as a fly would have, but still, he was obviously at fault. I mean, the other guy that sent the car flying sideways right in front of him had nothing to do with it, right? Isn't this like basketball - the last guy to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds is at fault, right?

In case you didn't catch my sarcasm, yes, that was a BS penalty. How ridiculous.

I've been getting a lot of penalties here as well. My 6th race, someone sideswiped me near the tire barrier (near first turn) which made me ram against the wall in result to a two-second car collision penalty plus a one second barrier collision one. I was so mad, I got huffy for a few minutes but then I calmed down.

So far my QT there is 1'50.835. I'm six seconds off the top time so I am decently skilled here, it's just the latter half of the track can be tricky (near bus stop).
