Not just not-modelled; it doesn't have one. Peugeot didn't even make a concept drawing of the interior as far as I'm aware - all of the release images are of the exterior.

Even if it did though, it might be a bit painful to drive in VR as it has no side windows...
No side windows? I figured it was that stuff they put on commercial vehicles that are “painted”, it is somewhat opaque but not completely so, and you can see through it.

For those struggling with the TCS reset thing, pretty sure if you go into driver settings and change your TCS to zero there it sticks everywhere. No more forgetting to turn it off...which I did a lot. 👍
Nope, there's nothing you can do (as of now) to make it "stick". While waiting for the lobby to open, if you don't at least go to the Q screen, it will be reset to 0. Unless, while you're in the lobby waiting for the race to start, you start a practice lap - that fixes it too.
Ever have a miracle lap in qualifying and then get scared because you knkw you can't run that pace, in race? Yeah, just happened......

It honestly messes me up in race a bit cuse i get imposter syndrome and end up pushing to hard to match i pace i don't know how i did lol
Absolutely has happened to me! The feeling of just being in everyone's way is hard to overcome, especially if it turns out to be true - you feel like the guy holding up traffic with everyone behind honking and gesturing at you. And honestly, there isn't a lot you can do about it, unless you figure out what you did right during the miracle lap.

So either skip racing that week, or go with it and see what you can learn from the cars in front. I actually have learned a few things from the faster guys, when I'm paying attention and not cringing.

Another thing you could do is make a livery with a sign on the back saying "Sorry I Suck" or something like that - it might give people a laugh.

Next week's B race is at Mt Panorama.
A sprint race at Bathhurst? :scared:
Keep your head on a swivel.
Unless you're an expert like @GOTMAXPOWER, there are only about 4 or 5 places where you should attempt an overtake on that track, but it takes a while for people to realize that. :ouch:
I'm hoping it's Gr.3 at Bathurst but we've had Gr.4 enough times to not get my hopes up, if Trial Mountain is Gr.3 for race C that isn't too bad either.

There are places to pass on the mountain but only if you get a lot of cooperation from the other player!

Greetings Daily Race thread, it's been a minute.

Cor, dailies are rubbish aren't they? All that turnover time, the long quali sessions lapping alone just to get punted off, the utter lack of Gordini, it's really a crying shame.

Lucky for all of you I'm short of numbers for some Gordini racing tonight, and the following weekend. If you fancy some lo stress, hi fun racing this evening at 10pm British Time (~6 and a half hours from this post), add my PSN (TPC_MaxAttack) and check out this thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...p-reopen-for-business-next-2-saturdays.418767

I hope a couple of you may come along, you only need a Gordini and comfort medium tyres. New faces always welcome.

Now, mods, I know this is skirting on-topic a touch, but I am a bit desperate and I did talk about the daily races for almost two sentences.

Yeah the turnover time of 10 minutes is really bad. That's why I choose to do league races instead, where I have to wait 6 hours for the next race in the day, that only runs at a specific time, and then after it's done, I have to wait weeks for the next!
Much faster turnover.

I have the opposite experience! I can't quite do myself justice in qualifying, but I'm consistent during the race. Consistent enough that my opponents often look like the imposters.

One of my favourite post-race jibes is "Player X let's his older brother qualify for him" 🤣

Problem is, if my not-quite-good-enough quali puts me in the mid to late pack then I can't find the extra pace to rise through the grid. If I'm battling out for a podium, that's when the nerves of steel start to shine through.

I've had the opposite experience of most of you in Race B (or at least those that post about it). I've had some fantastic and mostly clean races with excellent drivers around me. Sure, I had a few go sideways (figuratively and literally!) but by and far I've come through unscathed and with respect for the other drivers. Maybe I'm just lucky in my lobbies or a sixth sense at sniffing trouble.

And I'm still laughing hysterically at my results. I've read posts in the past of people with large swings in DR over short spans and I couldn't relate. My DR tends to move glacially both forward and back. But the last two weeks of Race B, I've gone from about B-98% last week to A-45%! (guesstimating, I don't pixel count)

My qualies have been unusually good in the last two race Bs. This puts me in the top 6ish in A/A+ lobbies; get through the first few turns unscathed, settle in, keep pace, run clean, rack up some DR. Simple. /sarcasm.

I'm not delusional, I know this is an outlier and I'll regress to the mean soon enough. But you'd better believe I'm spamming these races, storing up fat to carry me through the lean times!
Congrats on the comeback. I’m feeling the same way about B race but only managed 4 races there so far and all positive. Tough week to find time to race and did a full marathon of lobby racing last night.
Maybe I’ll get to see you out there before the weekend is over!

I’ll be the one in the Peugeot sitting on the roof top 😂

I now have scientific evidence that painting your car red causes reduced drag and faster Q times. I was struggling to improve my Daytona Q time. Then I put on a red livery, and I instantly cut .35 off my Q time.

So obviously the thing that's different is the paint. Try it - you'll see! :D

WARNING: This message is for entertainment purposes only. No actual improvement is guaranteed. In fact, it's just as likely you'll do worse.
Side effects may include gullibility, and confirmation bias. Your mileage may vary. Go back to your old colors if a rash occurs.
Consult your mechanic or therapist if the desire to run over people increases. Note that I said "increases" - if you already wanted to run people over, then that's on you. Or them. Whatever.

I didn’t know Char Aznable was on this forum.

I've been enjoying race C at Road Atlanta this week, and am finally starting to get some consistency with the car/track combination. I was able to get a 1:32.0 qualifying time, but noticed a lot of folks in the 1:31 or even 1:30 time range. Having only been sim racing for four months now, I know I have a lot of things to improve on, so thought I would post my QT lap and would welcome any pointers.

Just be careful with the radar, it's proximity window is very small and in to braking zones a good barometer but on things like corner exits it can be a bit misleading as closing speeds can be be quite big

I use bumper/low cam with rear view and radar but they tell me 2 different things.

I use the rear view to understand position of the car behind me. I use the radar to avoid close contact in tighter spaces like corners.

Neither is perfect but they have very different jobs and benefits.
I used to drive with the bumper cam but have gone off it and now drive hood/roof cam as I feel I can place the car with more confidence when I actually know where the corners of it are. Also the additional height, while feeling weird at first, gives a more commanding view of the road ahead making it easier to see what is going on when in traffic.

The one thing I wish PD would do would be to add "mirrors" to the hood/roof cam. That would be perfect. They have it in bumper so why not roof? Kind of like my mock up here:

Races!
I did three B races on my GB account today after getting knocked back to DR C a few days ago. Both of the first two races I was in pole, I set the fastest lap and I won both. The first race I did drop to 2nd at one point but got it back with a clean move into turn 1. Second race was a snooze and I won by nearly 10 seconds. Still I'll let my face tell it :D

Gran Turismo® 7_20230729144016.jpg

That put me back into DR B. That race was a **** show. First lap I start P5 and get punted turn 1. Somehow I came out of that still in P5 but with no speed and then get knocked off (pitted) again. That put me down to 15th as last decided to quit. So really last. Then the car that punted me, goes off and rejoins at P13 and then collides with P14. I'm behind this mess wondering how to catch up. P13 and 14 have some bumps going into the bus stop and I am able to go through but then (who was) P14 has a go at me and I am crashed out again. Vid tells the story..

After that I thought at least I would try for the fastest lap. But for some reason the car had no speed. The next complete lap was a 48 something and the final lap that was completely clear was a 49. I could not understand it. I thought perhaps I had knocked one of the tunable settings on the wheel but TCS remained at 1, fuel was 1, brake bias 0. I could not explain it. It must have been my driving but it felt like a regular TT at that point which should usually be in the 47s.

Daytona has been a real crap-shoot this week, especially the last few days. Oddly enough, I'm really enjoying it. Once I learned how to drive the track, it's not boring after all.

At the Daytona track, driving the Ford GT, I really considered changing to a different view because it's so hard to see over and/or around the other cars in a lot of places. But without a mirror, I just can't see how I could do it and not run into tons of problems.

I know a lot of people can switch the view to the rear quickly and back, but I doubt that would work for me, as my brain doesn't handle switches like that very well. Maybe with some practice, but the only place to practice is during the race itself, and that doesn't bode well.

So @TheNormsk, how do you deal with not having a mirror?

So @TheNormsk, how do you deal with not having a mirror?
I discussed this some posts up. Basically I don't look behind but I rely mostly on the radar and occasional look back along with the time interval in the leader board

Might a mirror helped in the last race getting back on track after the turn 1 punt? Perhaps, but at that point I was focused on getting back up to speed and having been hit a second time, but having (what I thought was) track advantage I expected the car that hit me to back out for turn 2. They didn't though and proceeded to carry on hitting me until I spun..

That's where I need to improve my race craft more. Perhaps I could have handled that more defensively to protect myself from a third hit by keeping wide at turn 2 even if it meant losing a spot so that I could at least have a chance to catch up, rather than to be eliminated entirely from the race...

I've been trying to practice race C and that thing is fun to drive but I am only at 1:34... QT and that appears to be way off the pace. Probably too late to be competitive in that now.

You aint kidding.

Last couple of days I have either got a podium or finished outside the top ten after being destroyed or suffering a bizarre penalty like the one @sturk0167 mentioned a few pages back.

None of my podiums are due to any driving skill. It's just luck I have survived the lunacy.

I need to go back to the opticians as well. Either that or that fake Peugeot most people are driving has the most tiny brake lights going. I can barely see when their braking.

Is it deffo Bathhurst next week?

This week's racing has been the dirtiest I've ever encountered (Race B) and I haven't raced since Thursday since it was confirmed to me any lobby is dirty.

I put in maybe an hour testing all cars on BOP settings and both Mediums and Hards for next week's Race B and C. Didn't put in too much effort, 2 laps per tire for each car but in terms of setup, both have potential. It alll depends on the filth as always... Guess we will find out after tomorrow....

After 31 races this week, I'm back to where I started (give or take a quarter of a percent).

I know, right?! I just have to assume they'll brake where I think they will, because I can't see those lights to save my (or their) life.

There is certainly some dirty driving going on, but I think the vast majority of it is just plain-old mistakes. The tight turns aren't very forgiving, so it's easy to push someone off the track when you don't mean to. And barely tapping someone when we're already right on the edge of our limits, it only takes a little nudge to wreck someone. Trust me, I know, because I've done my fair share of it.

When you're coming into T1 at high speed, if you miss your brake marker by even a tenth of a second, it's toast city for everyone. When it comes to the bus stop, it's so easy for someone to brake earlier than you expect, causing all sorts of problems.

Add all that together, along with the need (or at least desire) to see what other people are doing - causing a momentary distraction that can result in an OH ****! moment.

You can see by my grid above that I've received plenty of denting, but it doesn't show the number of times I've probably done the same to someone else.

And to top it off, a couple of races ago I was P3, and P2 must have gone to the bathroom because after the countdown he didn't accelerate, and I rammed him harder than a [I decided to edit this out so I don't get in trouble]. Nothing could be done about that. I still managed to make up a lot of ground, until I did something really stupid that was unrecoverable.

My point is, I'm actually having fun, even with the ****-show.

I tried the Mountain track tonight and it's gonna be a real war I think...the middle of the track with the small road on the hill is gonna be a trash-me-to-the-wall party...it's a pity cause it's a beautiful and technical track.

My saturday, 3 races, two pretty good results p6 - p7 and the last one...well 14th, a user touch my back while turning and I flipped, it was the 3rd lap and...well, 14th overall.
I'm middle-B ranked, and it's a surprise for me, next week I'll be D with that track :P

Final thought, I tried a lap in this week Race C and....wow, that was really fun, sad I didn't try that before.

Have a good saturday night everybody, it's time to go to bed in the old continent

This week Race B has def been a show. I was able to do a 1:46.359 in quali which usually puts me on pole or top 2.
Every race in DR B I’ve been in I’ve either made a slight mistake or been punted on either turn 1 or turn 2 end up mid pack and then get punted again to end up last. The best place I’ve ended is P9. When I’m eventually bumped down into DR C races I’m a lot faster than everybody, 1 or 2 wins later I’m promoted again to DR B. Vicious but fun cycle.

Before this week I was absolutely against using TC but this week has thought me that some cars just need it… Besides the top times often use TC (stability also) and are still considered top times. That GT40 is a handful and I’m a lot faster with it on TC 1

I would argue that unless you are top tier DR A, then there is no downside to TCS1 and in fact I would argue that for anything Gr.3 and higher it makes you faster. TCS1 only engages if you push the car over the limit to where the wheels would lose grip anyway. In a way, you can drive just that bit harder (but not too much) with the knowledge that yo have this safety net that if you do break tractions, then TCS will cut in and help save the day. With TCS0 you are more likely to spin out.

I'd rather lose 0.1s on one corner than the entire race.

Now if I drove in a way that did not need TCS then I've lost nothing as it doesn't slow you down. Conversely, at TCS0 I tend to be slower as I am more conservative in my approach as I spin out much more often.

Can anyone please spare a minute or two to watch my lap and tell me what are the biggest things I need to work on? I appreciate it.

Should be driving more like you’re late for a party at Barbie’s dream palace 😜

Just a couple of things stand out right away. At the top of the hill hit 4th as you are clearing the curb and begin the left. As you’ve crested and begin the right turn, hit 5th until the bottom left hander. The second right on the hairpin exit 3rd to the straight. Final chicane at the end of the straight shift back to 3rd after knocking the speed off and feather the throttle through the right up the hill.

this isn’t everything that could help but a couple steps at a time is usually most effective.
GL!

Update:
Shared a high 1:31 lap showing some of what I was doing. Haven’t done many laps yet but figured maybe it could help with what I’m describing.
Search replay content and I tagged it gtp moby

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Why be in 4th at the top and 5th on the way down? I assume it’s to have peak power, or is it for handling reasons.

I’ve watched a lot of replays and a lot of people stay in 4th gear from the very first right hand turn after the start/finish line, up the hill, down the hill, and don’t change to another gear until they are done with the hill and turning left at the bottom where they briefly switch to 3rd.

In fact, in general, I’m surprised at how little some of the top players shift, they stay in the same gear through stretches of the track where I always am shifting up or down.

And also, do you have any visual clue suggestions on how to position the car at the top of the hill where there is a blind spot where the hill blocks view of the road? I’m rarely able to attack that sequence with confidence because I don’t don’t often have faith that I am positioned correctly.

Last question, on the long back straight, why do so many people stay in fifth when the engine’s RPM totally justify the shift to 6th gear, if only for a moment?

I start with the disclaimer that I haven’t seen any replays and just gave it a few laps to show what I was trying to explain. Besides I’m far from a top player and sometimes trying to do what they are will not work for everyone because subtle differences can cost you a lot of time.
Mostly doing what you’re doing with trying different techniques and learning what works is how you will find your best way around.

I shift up to settle the car and less chance to spin out.

I always get to the edge of the grass on the left side and coast to the top and then you can hit the edge of the curb on your right and as you do, I shift up to get the car going into the left and feather very little and your already then going into the right hand. As the curb is coming up I go into 5th and take it to 3rd at the bottom. Use a bunch of curb just don’t get the left tires totally on it.

I used 6th because after 6.5k the car loses steam. Maybe it’s not so bad but I didn’t spend a lot of time testing either.

Just have fun and don’t get too discouraged. We all want to go faster and always look for the better time.

Exit the slow corners in 3rd gear, the 2nd right before the long straight and the chicane at the end. The biggest thing to gain some time is try double shifting from 3rd to 5th after those two corners. You should be shifting around 6400 rpm for this and 6k for 6th. If you're having trouble doing the double shift, try this little trick. When you shift to 4th, hold the upshift and hit downshift. You will get another quick upshift this way. It takes a little getting used to, but it will save you time if you're missing the second shift manually.

And btw, we still got spots open for DRWF. You can learn things like this racing with us. We like to help each other get faster. :D

I'm quite excited for Trial Mountain as Race C next week. As far as I can recall it has yet to be featured as Race C, only a bunch of Race Bs.

Wow guys, I had an excellent run at Daytona last night thanks to one of the top 500 ghosts. That really helped. The Ford LM car really handles this track well, it brakes smoothly and it is somewhat stable when doing the sharp turns, so I think it is a requirement for it to get a really low time.

So, I don't really think I need to improve anymore here, I'm at a low 1'48.000 time. That first turn I sometimes hit the tire barrier thing which is annoying as hell, it's like it's dead-on quick. The pairs of s-bends slows me down too after the bus stop so idk what to do about that, I bet I could save a second if I was quick through there.
