I hear that but personally think the rentals should be limited to a few cars not the entire catalogue. Two/three rental cars that get you into the race but not a choice of any car. Sounds fair?

The problem then is that people might not have access to the meta car. An e-sport shouldn't put people at a disadvantage that they have to resolve by grinding for masses of hours. The role of time playing the game should only be to increase someone's skill, not to give them an equipment advantage.
Consider a person who is world class in other driving games and can compete very quickly in GT7 top split in terms of skill. Should that person be told "okay, so you want to make GT7 your competitive game, you need to start by playing the game for 500 hours, grinding the same races over and over again, to earn enough credits to buy the cars and THEN you can use your driving skill to compete online"?
Or look at games where you can compete with no equipment disadvantage right from the start, such as CSGO, Rocket League, Age of Empires. I have never seen anyone suggest that these games would be improved by gatekeeping better equipment behind massive amounts of grinding.

Sport mode should simply do away with single player interference. Always have the tires available, no wear on the car. Even if the car needs new oil or an engine overhaul, with BoP it should always behave the same. What else is the point of BoP.
Buying the car to put your own liveries on it makes sense. Rental cars should come with rental car liveries
I see at least two different cars in that screenshot, better than most Group 2 races.

Or you can just travel to the present, go into the race and rent the CLK LM for the race!

Sooo, im just gonna say this, i love to race with different cars but when everyone is in the meta atenza & im in a megane or other non meta, its hard to compete,not because they are better drivers but because atenza at 393 hp & im at 293 or 330hp cant hold in straights with its speed, can they please raise the bop on other cars to at least have some variety other than a lobby of 13 atenzas? Is tht too much to ask??

So just done one race at LeMans in the F1 and every other car was the CLK. After the Mulsanne straight I was last running in fuel map 4. By the Porsche curves on lap 1 I got to the point in thinking what is the point and thought about quitting.
After seeing what happened last week and what I’ve seen so far in that one race think I’m done with daily races. Until they sort out the meta cars I’m not going to bother. Also the fact people can now rent the meta I think it going to be like this now for a long time

Yes, i know exactly what you mean and im thinking of skipping all daily til manufacturers cup returns, i mean i understand ppl wanna win and so do i but i refuse to drive atenza meta car for it, and it feels good to come from 14th to 5th in my lil megane or non meta cars, im not asking to nerf the atenza but buff up other cars that need it seriously

Did the Le Sarthe race before, had some nice racing with people letting me pass when I was faster and vice versa but there was one person on the track who on the straights would just ram me into the walls when passing yet never seemed to get any penalty or loss of speed. Did eventually pass them but it really does put a downer on it at times.

Yeah no daily races for me this week.
I hate Le Mans, I hate fuel saving and I dislike that the Mercedes is in Group 2, that's supposed to be Super GT cars.
Did half a lap at Lago for Race B and stopped, don't like this either until BoP is better.
And I'm not going to bother with Daily A either, I guess it will be crashers paradise

LM is a great track but in GTS the understeer on the pad killed it for me, it is much more drivable for me in GT7.

I have no time for fuel saving either. Only time fuel saving work is if your doing long races. 20+ laps or 1+ endurance. Daytona in the manufactures cup I thought worked well for fuel

One isn't renting a car, they are borrowing it. There should be a cost involved to rent a 450000 credit car.
It would be nice if there was an incentive (besides a livery) to owing/racing your own car. Higher payout??
I love the idea of being able to "test drive" a car before buying. But to be able to enter any race, pick any car, is kind of a kick in the balls to those who work hard to be able to obtain these cars.

The WRX is the meta. I was the only atenza in two of the races I did 😄. Need a lap into the 2.03s to start top 5. I’m a little way off that but I think it’s doable.

I think the renting thing is a good idea for say, Race A, when it's one-make BOP and the car isn't available (for example, I couldn't even try the GTO race the other week cos mine has engine tuning and I couldn't obtain another), or actually even if the car is available from UCD/brand central, because there's only one car allowed so it's not like having your own one bought makes a huge difference. But yeah, for the more varied or tuning races, I can see why it would just further encourage everyone using the one car. It definitely wouldn't work in races where tuning is allowed. I think the renting thing is a good way to test out cars you don't own, but that type of use for the feature would be better implemented in arcade mode or something rather than sport.

Until they patch the PP, or go back to certain HP/weight limits, we are locked into same make races. Best case scenario is that the OP car will change with the race track… but then we’re back to issues GTS had.
I guess I just have no clue what the direction of the game is anymore. I’ve earned the money to get a couple more legend cars…. But if there’s ever a ranked race where it’s an option, I’ll be racing against someone in the exact same car and it’ll feel like a different one to me. Saving up for specific Gr2/3/4s has no real reason now…. And lord help me forget how many credits were wasted upgrading the ones I’ve bought.

Did 2 Race C's without qualifying, did rent the Mercedes as a) I don't own any Gr.2 cars and b) it's the fastest. Started 13th and finished 6th in the first then finished 7th from 16th. Ran in FM3 and did some lifting and coasting to make it to the end without stopping.

I tried out race C because it's Sarthe after all. First in the GT-R, too slow. Then in the CLK, yeah it's faster. (both no stop)
GR.2 on Sarthe is just boring though, GR.1 or nothing. The only positive was that the races were clean. They were clean because I had zero interaction on the track. Matchmaking put me with A+/S to B/S and the field spread out to well over a minute at the finish. I didn't qualify so started at the back in between other non qualifiers and the only passes were from people taking a pit stop.
I won't be back, just bleh. Don't really like the CLK, nor the GT-R and there are not enough people to provide competitive interesting races. I raced on PS4, maybe the pool is much smaller there. There were 6 A+ in the room though.
I miss GT Sport :/ (still no race change in sight)
