Very interesting night qualifying for Race B. Jumped in my trusty WRX, managed a 2.06 flat but having MASSIVE issues locking up the rear brakes on three corners. It's really, really bad. It has to be costing me best part of a second, i have no confidence chucking the car into a corner.

Then tried the Alfa, car feels great but again the locking of brakes. Again a 6 flat but must have lost 3/4 second to the rears locking up.

Atenza time, struggled at first but got it down to the low 6's as well, brakes were fine.

Given I can rent cars tried the vette, much to my astonishment I DID NOT NEED TC, which is just nuts. Actually felt good and got it down to a 6 flat as well.

So 4 cars, all effectively the same time but leaving a huge amount on the table in the wrx and the alfa due to the rears locking up. Not being able to adjust BB is a real killer, no idea why they nerfed this.

The Manufactures Series has rentals too. But you have to maintain them.

With Daily rentals there's going to be a disadvantage to using your garage car. Wear and oil, having to buy the right tires.

Not a big deal but it should be rental cars with an option to add a your livery. Or if you use your garage car you get an extra award to cover some of the "cost" of racing an owned car.
It may eventually be worth buying your own car if you had to pay $5k - $10k to enter each race in a rented car.

It’s finally happened. Graced the top step. Feels good to be at the top (only for this race).
Daily Race C. Quali lap was done in GTR and race won in GTR. The CLKs are fast on the straight but the GTR is quick around Indianapolis, Porsche Curves and Maison Blanche. Ran mix 2 for 3 laps short shifting, then last two laps mix 1 with some short shifting and full revs. 10 second gap in the end.

Think Im going to retire now.

Really struggling with the one-make race. The car is very unpredictable and hard to adapt to and all those sausage curbs are just a world of pain. The margin of error of getting the racing line right and just barely scraping those curbs is the worst feeling ever.

-edit-

I think all is well now. Figured out the car and most of all the high gear corner exit which pushes the car forward with a slight boost. I wondered why so many overtook me so easily in certain corners and this was the technique that they were using (just as the world record holder). Had a great final race for the evening where I battled a UK driver but understeered in corner 4 and pushed him slighty off track making him lose 2 positions. On the final straight I slowed down and let him and one other car overtake me before the finish line. I figured it was the most fair thing to do and he thanked me in the chat afterwards so that felt great.

Yeah the car loses so much ground on shifts its amazing. Very unnatural downshifting to 1st for the final corner then right back to 3rd before accelerating. Turn 4 Im not so sure about I exit faster in 3rd and then do a quick shift to 4th right before braking for the left-hander-of-death. I love laguna and this car just amplifies it, but the time loss on the shifts is just weird.

Any advice for which manufacturer for the GTWS i should choose ? I'm just an average driver, but don't want the least competitive car and don't want to look like a sheep in a meta make/model. Cheers (I love the Jags and wanted maybe to try Mclaren since i haven't bought one yet)

Go with whatever your heart desires mate. They're both solid manu's.

Got my first Race C win last night.

First race - 6th (2 places gained) CLK GTR
Second race - 8th (2 places gained) GTR GT500
Third race - 1st (4 places gained) CLK GTR

Was a tough race, got nudged off on the third corner causing me to cut it and getting a 1.5?! second penalty. by the end of the first lap due to heavy fuel saving I was 9th. By the end of lap 2 i was 8th. then lap 3 everyone infront of me bar 1 was in the pits so i was second and chasing down a GTR GT500, managed to get in crossing the line for the start of the last lap. Won the race by just over 1 second to a 2 stopper!

I also see that renting a car is a good idea, but it shouldn't work the way it is.

I would consider a "rental fee" per week of 50 or even 100 thousand to be appropriate, plus rented vehicles would have to be recognizable as rental cars directly from the outside, i.e. not have an original design but a special "rental car paintwork".

So everyone can drive the "Meta" relatively cheaply if they want and then decide whether they want to continue renting the car or whether they want to buy the vehicle.

I would offer 4 different races per week.
1. for road vehicles
2. Gr4 vehicles
3. Gr3 vehicles
4. Gr2 and Gr1 alternating.. or maybe even mixed Gr1 AND Gr2 races where podium places are awarded according to class. The whole thing as a long-distance race of 30 minutes or longer would be really NICE in my opinion.
I second that. The rental livery could just be the numberplate with "rental" written on it. Also I think your rental fee is a good idea, or just give players who drive rental cars little or no money for competeing with it.

Sounds a great race.

One win so far on Race A in my shiny and chrome.

I must ask: What is the problem with the rental cars? I really welcome it. Now I can check each car and buy the right ones for me. Pre-patch I had to spend my credits first to find out the car was not suitable for me. I just can't see that anyone is loosing here.

It's not even about winning or losing... the rental car idea is OK and a great thing in and of itself, but then why not make it a little more "realistic" with the rental fee or something similar.

You can e.g. R2E also test cars to see if you would like them before you buy them for real money.. I think that's totally awesome.. You have 24 hours and a certain number of routes to choose from for a certain interesting car. Awesome IDEA!!!
Also in GT7 I think something like that is great. ( Of course without the real money aspect )

I've skipped over a lot of Race As since gt sport came out but in my experience, race A this week is by a trillion miles the most dirty race I've ever seen held.

Every single one I've entered, almost no one can keep it clean in this car. Such a shame because the Radical is super fun but I'm not sure sports hard tires and laguna Seca were the best choice

Eitherway, inexcusable how filthy people are racing each other. In my experience of course. Even in the races I was given a clean race bonus, I was hit into the sand more than once by other people.

Im awful at choosing the correct manufacture cup car as well lol
I used to think about that too... now I just pick the brand I like and ride it... Ultimately everything else is... well... it's just like riding the Meta all the time, although you can not like to be theoretically "victorious"... But you don't always have to have the meta, you need a good stable car that you can handle brilliantly!!!!

There is a major drawback to running the GTR in race C. The Mercs are so popular and so slow through Tertre Rouge and the Porsche curves that if they get past you just before it is almost impossible to avoid them.

I am so sick of getting 2 second penalties because someone brakes right in front of me. I know I should have learnt by now but honestly, even when you’re expecting it, the sudden stop is just too dramatic.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Going Rental

Gran Turismo 7’s latest set of Daily Races is now available, with three new races to occupy players across the next week and a new feature brought in by the latest game update...
I'm just renting cars and winning races, bitches!

Thought I had died when this dude hit me, jesus christ - started in front, lap 1, definitely not a revenge punt

TORPEDO INCOMING....

Everyone else saying it is an Atenzafest......wrx i have and am good with.
Last night I won with an Atenza and a GT-4. I think it really comes down to qualifying time. If you're starting in the top 3, you have a great shot at winning, no matter what car.

Best shot I've had at beating the WRXs is the Alfa 155, but it's not an easy feat.

Best lap with it for quali was a 2:05.3 - swapped to the WRX and did a 2:04.5 in about 3 laps trying.
Try the GT-4

I’m done with daily B. Only done two races all week and it’s pointless.
What daily c like? Is it all GTRs now or still a bit of a mixed field?

Not everything is bad.
Therefore, well done to the handling of the cars PD. :)
For now, Radical, GT4 and GT2s are all drivable without TC on. As I like.
What I like too, is that some cars, due to their own physics, slightly block rear wheels. Which is good on some corners.

Prepared for the Radical race with my new replica livery, made right now.

Have fun and don't forget to drive safely.

I'll have to test out the GT-R in Race C.

Ended up using the F1 GTR from the back in a top split room on a late night. Lando Norris was not the only McLaren driver that got a podium recently.

...but seriously, compared to the CLK, F1 is a little worse with top end, somewhat worse with fuel and bad with rear tire wear.

whats going on with the first chicane in race c? It randomly penalizes you even if you stay well within the track limits. Very frustrating if this is a glitch or is it me doing something wrong?

Do you have a video or anything? Hard to diagnose if you're doing something wrong when we can't see what you're doing :P

Exactly such things and others I have just experienced... And then also this totally brain-dead penal system. A meces comes out of the box, pulls over into my lane and I get a 2 second penalty. Then the last lap of the Meces in front of me apparently has major problems.. probably not changed tires... went sideways in every corner... I then tried to overtake him at the end, he skids sideways again.. I meet him and we drive I cross the finish line next to each other with a small lead... and afterwards I get a 5-second penalty... what rubbish... I was shot down in a gang and I get a penalty for it... forever a broken car and and and.

I really don't feel like it anymore... First the game is ruined from driving by the patch and then these stupid penalties... Tztztz.. **** PD & Sony
