So am I right in my assessment that I’m not at fault for the other car going off track here? This is not a dive bomb as the move was a long time coming down the straight. He also failed to defend the corner and should have known I was there and backed off once I was on the inside of the turn.

I chalk that one up to, flat vs vr. Definitely one of the reasons I didn't play sport mode until vr released.

The chase cam is subjectively superior to VR when it comes to awareness. ;)

"The Stewards find that STR was predominantly to blame for the collision because of his lack of situational awareness of LAT's passing maneuver." - Excerpt from one of F1 documents from last year. :P

That incident had resulted in 3 grid drop and 2 penalty points for STR (Lance Stroll).

I just sold my TV as I am preparing to move cross-country. No GT7 for me for a few weeks. I do have a 1080p projector but I am spoilt by the 4K HDR TV. Guess I will look out for videos here to pursue my hobby of stewarding, solicited or not. :D

Apparently, the tune that works best for me is yellow :sly:

But for whatever reason I simply cannot get my race times under 2:03 - It's pretty frustrating. I'm around 1-2 seconds slower in the race than in open/qualifying laps. Maybe it's the pressure of trying to avoid errors.

2 wins is all I have to show for this week

Funny how I don’t see a 911RSR on the list but most of the races I’ve been in are dominated by 911s. Guess that is the safe car of choice for us B drivers.
It's the most stable car for us B drivers and very forgiving I've found....although I've also found Barry R this week a lot in all the cars.

Race pace wise it's solid, but I put the times on the leaderboards down to a bit of manu practice, and it's heavily weighted at the moment to the APAC drivers

There's plenty of ways to know someone's alongside when on a "flat". You have radar, there's the darkening of the screen and there's the engine sound and tyre sound of the other cars.
Which still doesn't prevent this scenario from playing out thousands of times a day.. virtually verbatim.

Bet you $1, that I'm able to clock activity significantly better than chase cam in all situations. I'd even go so far as to use a car with only sideview mirrors.

P.S. Enjoy the trip! Driving across the country is always a hoot.. Except western PA, and Ohio… they're boring as snot

So, this just happened, using my second account:

I don't know why I didn't get CRB - I didn't come close to touching anyone. I did manage to wander off the track during T1, so maybe that's why.

I want to thank Pole Position for having trouble early on, and allowing me to pass very cleanly on the back straight.

Lessons learned? None, really. It helps to start P2 instead of back in the pack. It helps to have luck, then not do anything too stupid while out in front. But honestly, the guys behind were having a bad race, and most of the time the gap was 3-4 seconds, except for when I lost a little focus on T1 lap 5, so there really wasn't much pressure.

I wonder if this account's low DR had anything to do with the lobby and me starting P2. My QT isn't as good as on my primary account, and my DR on this account was B at about 10%. So I guess I got stuck in a lobby with other lower DR Bs, and hopefully I drove more like the upper DR B I used to be.

I haven't done a Race B in forever because it's so dependant on qualifying
Nothing wrong with that.
and chaos
Can't argue with that, but I have a theory about it...

(See what I did there? "Theory" and "Chaos"? "Chaos Theory"? Never mind. If I have to explain it, it wasn't funny.)

Ahem.

Adding my 2-cents: Daily Race B is the only race that affects DR/SR, and is short enough for my attention span. I just can't stay focused long enough for the longer races. (I have ADD that I take meds for, but there's a limit...)

With that said, one thing they could do to improve it, without having to change anything in the game, is to make sure each race has the maximum laps available in the time slot. The more laps, the less "urgent" people get. And I know that sounds like it contradicts what I said about my attention span, but I can focus for 15 minutes, so it's OK by me.

And of course, everything should be driven by my own personal desires and needs... 😏

Anyway, that's my thoughts.

One day, Sam Fisher will return (which is where I learned of the term Chaos Theory - from the Splinter Cell game...or was it Jurassic Park?).

And, true, Race B would be much better if they simply added three or four minutes to the race. And they really need to cool it with the hard compound tires. I used to think they were overdoing it to collect data but now I just chalk it up to PD nonsense.

I would love if Daily Race B would take the A spot, C the B spot, and the C spot should be occupied with a longer race with more strategy. Add a 4th for road cars. That would hit the g spot.
Yea but you see none of us would be able to find that last one.

Gr3 at Suzuka was Race A a couple months back.

If he was driving with the radar on, he would have seen you.

I’m a tad slower than most and I get passed like this all the time, I’m aware of the the guy passing me and I accept that I’m being passed by a better driver or one that has a better run than me at that particular time.

I recently turned into someone when my right earbud fell out under braking while using VR. I wasn't using radar at that point. But that probably shouldn't happen under most circumstances. People just forget to pay attention sometimes. Straights are long and there's a lot of things on one's mind.

Well I didn't quite do a thing. That thing being reach DR A but it was close. This week I gained 27% from 63% to 90% DR B; my highest ever.

I did four races tonight after getting home from a road trip. Race one I'm Q2 with a DR A driver on Q1. At start that driver did not move though - perhaps he went for a pee and missed the start of the race? Whatever, it allowed me into P1 and I was clean after that. I had some pressure behind the entire race but the sportsmanship was good and I got...

Race 2 was similar with me starting Q2 with a DR A driver Q1. This time this driver remembered the gas pedal and I never had the speed to keep in touch. I came in P2 with a clean race. A 1,2 is a good start for the night but it would not last.

Race 3 I started Q3 on a new faster QT of 2:01.921. Turn 1 I turn in too tight and get my wheels on the grass dropping me two spots. Fast forward on and lap 2 P6, who is behind me, bumps my rear on turn 1 causing me to slide out and he passes. Initially I thought this might have been accidental but reviewing the replay I see he tries the same move with P4 ahead several times. It seems this driver is a push to pass (dirty) driver.

Through lap 4 I see P4 and P5 continuing to fight and they get all out of shape in the Casio complex. I see this as my opportunity to pass. I think that P5 (the car who bumped me before) is going to go wide and I aim for the inside of the last turn but he catches it and closes the door on me and I bump his rear because I did not react in time to realize this and brake. Annoyingly that bump speeds him back up and slows me down allowing P7 to catch me. Down the straight I get bumped and do I full 720° spin and think that is because P7 hit me. He did but it was not his fault. Reviewing the video that one is on me. Focused on the cars ahead, I try to move past on the right failing to see how close P7 was to me and I drive my flank into his front side. The result, a ballet of metal and tire smoke...

That puts me down to P12 but later in the lap, someone else bins it at turn 13 allowing me to finish 11th.

I walk away for a bit to calm down, check what has happened to my DR and hope a time gap will give me a better lobby.

Race 4 and boy what a fun lobby. 1 A+, 6A and the rest B. I'm in Q7. It's actually a great race. In the first lap two drivers bin their cars by saying hello to Barry R. and one car gets on the grass at turn 14, the Spoon Curve and I pass on the green strip as he careens back onto track. A passing move of beauty :D After that I was able to keep the DR A guys that were behind, behind me and that felt good. Another clean race to finish 4th. I should post that first lap. It was fun! Perhaps tomorrow.

I stopped there. It was getting late and the lobbies become more varied the later it gets and I knew I wanted some time to putz with the race 3 replay to see what really happened and to learn from that. Now I know; it was a race craft failing on my part.

I will miss Suzuka. That circuit has always treated me well and it is one of my favorites (and it has my highest win count - 3 races now - of any circuit).

On to next week. I'll probably suck at those

Suspension (partial) is back in this week's Race C, but this time it's natural frequency instead of dampers, so PD are almost certainly using this to test how different tuning options affect dailies and/or Gr.3 BoP.
This is really interesting, both the tunning experimentation and also what they are testing and the fact they are doing it one variable/setting at a time.

I wonder how much impact natural frequency will have 🤔 sardgena is quite smooth so it could have a noticeable effect.

Race C is a compulsary 1 stopper, so no worries on tyre life, unless you pit too early or too late. Quite a track, a brutal little bull ring. 1.5s penalties for hitting the barriers, and that is quite easy to do on this track.

My initial phase as an A has come to a premature conclusion, technical issues with the wheel have resulted in the shifters dieing midrace, 3 times!. My attempts to fix it lasted long enough to convince me it's fixed, but not always long enough to get to the end of the race :( Hopefully my next fix will last a bit longer, I think I'm going to enjoy Sardegna this week.

I love the idea that PD are 'testing' things for some future outcome rather than pressing random things, even after all this time the thread has hope. I can't tell if that's lovely or funny.

Not hugely interested in either option again. I do long for a good bash around Monza it feels like it's been months at this point.

4 laps and 20 laps seem quite the difference, too cold and too hot, we're still waiting on just right?

I’ve gone through a couple of cars that I thought would be interesting to tune and I can’t say it makes a bad BoPed car better. The meta still seems to be the meta.

Like I thought the Mustang could be interesting if you can get it to turn, I’ve got it on 2.25 front and 4.10 rear with 4 rear brake balance and it’s still unable to rotate.

Race C was expected to be on the Autopolis Short Course a few pages ago. Wish it was to be honest, Autopolis Short is really underrated in my opinion. Would really like to see them use some shorter circuits for Race C too, short circuits but high lap counts. Would be interesting to do a long Goodwood race.

20 laps on the short Sardegna… Do they read this thread lol?

I made this post early last week.
