Nice to have an actual Group 2 race I'll take this as an apology for last weeks mess (and I love Le Sarthe but the rented CLK clones in there was just a joke)

Race A road cars at suzuka, christ in heaven can we get something new, at least it's the full circuit. What a chance to let people go ham on these '21 road cars and turned them into tuned up beasts but nope, BoP again, gonna be a boring drive as usual.

But fun enough to return to Chivalr.... uh I mean Interlagos.

I was able to win a few races in C last week, but I deliberately ONLY drove the Nissan and not this mangy Benz.
I didn't like the Benz because it just drove poorly, the only thing it could really do was... be fast. And I don't respect cars like that.
What always bothered me again and again, the Benz regularly overtook you at the end of the long straight and then in the braking zone or just before they pulled wildly in front of you and then braked, which was just catastrophic. And then this hard braking because this Benz wasn't able to "reasonably" corner. If the Benz drivers then still behaved fairly... all good, then I just grabbed them in the curves, but many drivers are just well... unsportsmanlike enough to then drive like pigs.

Another gr2 fuel saving race? Oh well. Interlagos is always cool I guess. But it’s been what; 3 weeks? Got to be a BOP test. Now that the RcZ has been adjusted they’ll probably want to see if we get some variety. That BRZ felt good, wouldn’t be surprised to see that replace it.
It will probably be the subaru but not the brz. The merc is driving good as well. I’m going to try a few cars to see what’s what. Hopefully we get the castrol on the legendary stand this week.

Just drove race C there and finished in 10th or thereabouts, but then a bunch of folk in front got 1 minute penalties and I find I got placed 4th? Any ideas what's going on?

(I never stopped, so I don't think it's a mandatory pit stop thing...)

I've done two Race Cs this morning. I can't bt see the point of using softs and having to pit for mediums - maybe really quick drivers can make it work?

Nobody stopped for tyres in the races I did and the mediums were still good at the end. Best result was 3rd, finishing ahead of 5 A-rated drivers, which is unusual for me.

In GT7 I find the last sector at Fuji a bit more forgiving on the motion control compared to GTS, as I'm sure I can turn tighter and get less understeer.

Edit/ got a win on C after P1 pitted for mediums 😁 he pulled out an 8 second lead after 5 laps and I was convinced he was on soft tyres so I tried not to make any mistakes. He ended up 4th. Another 4 guys got 1 minute penalties after using softs the whole race.

Watch out for the tyres in C, it looks like it resets if you change them in the quick menu. I'm trying with the tuning sheets now, hopefully that stops the surprise softs.

Unfortunately that has been in the game for some time now.
If you change it in the settings in the garage it should stay as you set it.
Indeed, think of your garage settings as your 'default' as changes made elsewhere will just be for that particular session.

I don't think this system is a mistake, it's intentional. So you can make adjustments BEFORE the race, but they only apply to this race, similar to the settings for TCS in the race. Which are not affected by the "global" settings for TCS.

However, if you open the tuning menu completely, set something here or change the tires, then that should also be saved....

Did a race B. Spent 20 minutes qualy with the beetle. Got a 32.6 which I thought was decent. It wasn’t 🤓. Or at least it won’t be. Anyone in A lobbies you’ll need to get in the 31s to start top half by the end of the day I reckon. The top 4 were in the 31s in my early race. I was lucky to start 6 and finish 6th.
The infield was interesting. Got dived twice - one each at the usual spots - but the offender backed off on both occasions. They knew a penalty would have been issued if they went past. That’s a win for the penalty system in my book at a track which is historically horrendous for push to pass.

Forgot also to watch for RM tires in Race C. So I had to change before the last lap from RS to RM. A lot of players got tire penalty so I finshed 2nd.

feels like they really tried this week, which I appreciate. the choices seem to reflect some progress on the PP/BoP stuff. it’s a bit of a reprieve to have races that are more fun than the endurance offline options!

Race A - the two cars are both fun to drive- the 86 seems more grippy but the BRZ can get through the gears quicker. Recommend throwing a wing on both, to hell with aesthetics. Unfortunately it is the same circuit they keep picking and 11-12 minutes for Race A feels long on that track.

Race B - the Gr3s are way more balanced now. it was nice being able to hit similar times with different cars (note: the process for changing a car to run a daily race lap is so tedious). Unlike GTS, I find myself adjusting the TCS depending on which car I use, but all the cars are now usable at least. The BRZ was my slowest lap but amazing to drive on that course - and it was fun getting a few test laps in with the McClaren GTR.

Didn’t race C yet but clearly they are trying to offer a Gr2 that has some variation.

edit: well, there was a mix on Gr3 for a little while! the beetle was my slowest lap this morning, but i had TCS1 on from driving the Ford GT/McClaren GTR. the nissan didn't require any TCS, though it still ran slow for me.

What cars were getting the top times?

Can’t say I saw much variation lol.

15 beetles and 1 WRX in my lobby.
😂

People see a beetle with the world’s best time and immediately rent one.

I haven’t driven the renault after the update but if it’s still sketchy as it was someone should get it on top so that everyone would follow.

I also tried the BRZ, RCZ, WRX, 650s. The WRX and beetle were quicker but the WRX needs more work through the gears. The BRZ was a second slower with a cleaner lap.

Give the VW GTI VGT a go, I haven’t admittedly drove it since the update. It was super strong at trail mountain a few weeks ago. Quite a handful but quick. I liked it in GTS as well. Good luck🍻

That car is all about straight lining. Not sure it’s suited to the infield. A good driver could get a good time out of anything I suppose though. Which is why I always go to the meta as I’m not good enough to compensate with a weaker car.

How was the 650 and the RCZ? Give the Z4 a go. I had lots of fun using it in the GTWS race a few weeks ago.

The 650 and RCZ felt nice and I put in clean laps but the times didn’t reflect it. Not sure where the time is being lost. Admittedly I only put a very small amount of time in.

Why does PD have a hard on for gr3 interlagos?
With IMSA being at Laguna last weekend it would've been perfect time for gr3 at Laguna last week or this week.
I think they’re doing A/B BOP testing. But one meta has just been replaced with another. Not sure if it’s possible to avoid it.
