After an amazing week last week where I not only reached A+ status, but continued to win races in A+ lobbies, last night I was brought back down to earth with a bump.

I stuck with the G70 at Brands, but without the brilliant tune that I copied and used last week I didn't enjoy the car so much. My Qualifying was initially a long way off the pace, but I eventually got a semi decent time and joined a race.
I was miles off the pace, and quickly ended up nearly last with absolutely destroyed tyres and a total loss of confidence!

After a bit more Time Trial, I decided to give the Honda NSX a try. This felt much nicer to drive, and I ended up with a time which put me in the top 250 which was too bad compared to earlier.

I had one quick race in it before bed and it was a much more pleasant experience. The biggest improvement was the tyre wear which meant I wasn't sliding around all over the place in the last few laps.
I ended up P2 in the race with a late overtake as my pace wasn't dropping off like the G70 drivers.

Hopefully tonight will bring further improvements with some more Time Trial practice.
Well noted this! I also found the G70 less comfortable to drive without the adjustable LSD settings. Especially in the last turn I slide more (also with new tires). Maybe I'll also try another car when I go racing.

You have to drive it like we had to drive the Mazda 3 when that was op (although all the FF cars are the same).

The two tips I have is firstly do everything you can to minimise wheel spin as this loads the diff up and best case you'll notice the revs dropping as it feeds the power in, worst case is horrific understeer.

Tip 1. Prioritise keeping acceleration when you are as straight as possible and in a smooth consistent way to allow the diff to do its thing correctly.

Tip 2. Pre loading/coasting/short shifting really helps the car turn and exit corners. Coasting but carrying more speed really helps as well on a few of the corners with short shifting to 4th on the last corner really helping to maximise traction and thus acceleration.

Just out of curiosity and due to the 600% credit boost bonus that Race B has, I decided to give it a chance for today thus passing over Daily Race A for now.

First session - I went for the Nissan GTR NISMO GT3 '18 for the three sessions I'm in but in qualifying sessions I chose the Genesis. Managed to get a time of 2:02.8 and in the first two sessions it was pole position. Now for the race, it went horribly bad for my first time using the GTR on a Daily Race as I got scuffed on the Dipper section of the track which screwed up my chances of getting a win on this track. Was able to recover to P3 but still its a shame I wasn't able to make the most out of my pole position.

Second session - And this is where I made sure I didn't screw up this time around. Despite once again hitting the wall on the Dipper section once more on lap 2, I was able to recover the lead quickly before the end of the lap on the Murrays corner and from there I was able to get the win after consistent driving.

Third session - Started P2 in this race and this is like most oof choke I've seen in my experiences of doing Daily Races. So the person in pole position was undeniably quick with the GR Supra and he led all the way until in the last lap of the race where I was settling in on 2nd place, the GR Supra user choked on the Chase part of the track and it caused him to lose the lead to me. He was able to recover enough to finish P3 but it had a "illuminati" moment. Still a win is a win.

One thing I gotta say in these sessions is I like how varied the top 5 was except maybe for the first run where there were two Genesis X-GR3s.

Been working quite a bit at race B at Bathearst, and managed a 2:04-something in the Supra. Question to fellow Supra drivers: What have you landed on for Brake Balance? Tidgney suggests +2, but I think that is from before the physics changed. I am currently on -1 which I find is good for the downhill bends before the back strait.

I hate with passion this cars in Gr.4 (G70 and Mazda 3).
I find those tips very counterintuitive (and unrealistic) but they work in this game.

It feels weird to short shift to 4th gear and the engine noise doesnt help to feel you are gaining in relation with over revving 3rd gear.

The good thing with this cars (may be is a weight thing) is the FFB.
Yesterday I was trying different cars and when I jump into my beloved 4C after testing the G70 there was nothing on the wheel.
Felt super light :ouch:

Edit: grammar

I'm back to winning ways with Race B! :gtpflag:

I'm having success with the Porsche and I was in a race where the Z4 did an admirable job!!

I would have has the CRB in addition to pole position and fastest lap if it hadn't been for this contact at turn 2. Again, I have to wonder, where are other expecting cars to go? It's like people have become too accustomed to racing with the ghost. 🤔

Edit.

I'm going to take a break from posting for a bit. I'm sure some lurkers and google searchers find value in my posts. I'm finding less and less value in posting them to me personally.

See you all on track 👍
You might see me distantly in your rear view mirror 🥹 - I can't drive the G70 well without a tune

Thanks for these tips. Tip 1 I always try. A car like the G70 makes it so easy to just go full throttle without spinning out though, so I have the tendency to put the pedal to the metal as fast as I can.

As for the coasting you mention in tip 2.. I believe it was you who tipped me a few months ago to not fully slam the brakes, but to coast through the first corner of Brand's Hatch. It didn't really stick to me at that time, but since last week I know what you mean.

My newbie reasoning to be fast was like.. drive fast as long as you can, brake short and hard, take the corner, and again smash the throttle. Took me a while to see that I gain time when I brake for about 50 %, coast while cornering and then accelerate again. It's smoother that way with less brutal weight transferring. My guess now is that this works in many more situations than just this one corner and this one car.

Tokyo East Counterclockwise?

If that's actually true (the GTWS race is at the usual Clockwise layout) that's the first event, singleplayer or multiplayer that layout will have seen in GT7's lifetime.

Also clearly PD have watched @Tidgney's video yesterday since Catalunya National is another track he brought up as being unused.

3rd lap in after getting home from work. Into the top 1k and I haven't really pushed it yet. I'm not bothered about racing, the QT here and Brands will do me fine. Still waiting for my PC so this will have to do for now

-1 seems the best way to stabilize the car downhill for me too

Some rough races on Brand's Hatch yesterday evening. Seemed like last week people accepted that you cannot overtake easily, and maybe only jumped each other during pitstops. On the full circuit it's a whole different story. Not dirty driving per se, but clumsy and aggressive it was for sure. I finished 5th, 11th and 14th, not really getting into the flow of the track. Couldn't drive smoothly. Don't know what happened when I finished 5th, I guess most people around me were failing even more than I did.

Needed some compromise with my lazyness, it was time to ditch the auto gearbox, thus just doing qualy to re-learn the tracks. my respect to those that are fast with the joypad, my right thumb is basically crying out loud from pain. In the end I couldn't not try some B at Bathrust. Same carnage, I mean, starting 11th to climb to 4th at the beginning of 3rd lap... to be back 11th the next lap. Seems that the downhill section of the track is a sort of unicorn. I see many with significantly lower qualy times than mine smashing themself there 4 times in 5 laps...

I've had some good A races so far. Mostly close and fair, nice racing. Yesterday early evening I had some A+ and A in the field. Starting from position 3 I thought it would be an exciting race and I could follow the two in front of me well and could have overtaken with my elbow, but that's not how I ride. I got my comeuppance from a fellow countryman on lap two when he hit me and I dropped out. I was able to fight back from last place and still had a pretty good race. But I don't understand why drivers cruise around the track during a race and hinder other people's races. Driving like that meant I lost at least one or two places in the end.

Ah, hey there! That's me in the '08 NSX. ;)

I wish A counted for DR!

I was in with some of those guys yesterday too - will keep a lookout for you.

It's been a while since I did many A- races - I wish the DR was active (only because I've been doing well there and poorly at Brands)

@NAXEHT Ah, hey there! That's me in the '08 NSX. ;)
Ah! Never realised that was you - saw you a few times too!
