Well... I bought it. I decided the worst that can happen is I sell it later and get most of the money back. Or, I have a great time in a variety of games and it's worth the money. Planning on trying Resident Evil while I have it, and then pick up some other games after. Still, I'll probably dump a ton of time into GT7. Maybe it'll even be fun to play in cinematic mode on some non-VR games.

I hope it was worth the hype. Even if not... I'll get some decent time out of it I'm sure.
GT7 became alive for me ever since I put on that PSVR2 for the first time in February. 5 months later I am still having a blast trying all the different cars in VR. It took me a couple of weeks to acclimate to being in VR at first, but once I got the hang of it it's like a dream come true.

Don't forget: take it easy to start with; build up your VR sessions over the first few weeks and everything should come together nicely. If it looks blurry, give your brain chance to stop trying to refocus your eyes.
First time I had VR, a couple years ago, I jumped straight into Dirt Rally 2 and the only time I started feeling sick was some vaguely Spider-Man type place in Rec Room or VRChat (can't remember which now).

Now, I can't say I'm still going to be as resilient, but I'd like to think I'll be able to manage quite well.

I'll definitely remember to listen to my body if things start feeling off though. No risks for me.

I was having a blast doing it on a flat screen so I'm hoping VR will be a huge improvement.

I still have my criticisms of GT7 and its economy, but I realize I'm a huge fan of cheaper cars anyway so I accepted that I may not get to try every car. In fact, I still find myself drawn to the kart. Maybe VR will make me appreciate super/hypercars more though?

You will REALLY appreciate any open wheel cars in VR, especially the little Kart..... Can't wait to hear from you on this new experience.

I’m shopping a broad range of real life cars at the moment: NA-NB-ND MX-5, Polo GTI, MINI-MINI Cooper S, MiTo, Swift Sport, Liberty(Legacy) wagon,

Tried those car in game. Before I bought them, I used the VR showroom.

Driving those inexpensive cars is the real Gran Turismo experience. ;) If you’ve got an NA Roadster, I bet driving it in VR( remember to use a fan) will make you smile, as you feel the warmth of the sun on your face. 👍

The kart is amazing in VR, I find myself racing with it usually weekly. But really VR has made me greatly appreciate the attention to detail in every vehicle, even some I normally wouldn't care about at all. Like that Citroen Pallas they added maybe 4-5 months ago, there's so many quirky things in that interior like the gauge cluster an the gear shifter that are enjoyable to see in a proper first person perspective. And it really does drive very smoothly, I never race with it but sometimes just drive it around as a relaxing drive.

I'm definitely more of a fan of the race car side of things, but if you are interested in a pretty expensive car that's great in VR, I can't recommend the Super Formula cars enough. Also cars like the KTM X-Bow or the Radical SR3 SL are a lot of fun.

I’m not getting it until the 30th so it’ll be a bit before I can share my thoughts, so for now, here’s a question.

Everyone says you can do everything in this game in VR, right? But I’ve never seen the photo mode. How does that work? Can I take photos in as good quality as on a flat screen? Presumably by it moving to 2D menus like other features not built for VR?

It, and all menus in the game, are projected on an adjustable size virtual monitor. The VR portions of the game are any activity where you're driving a car (so like races, time trials, licenses, music rally, etc.), VR showroom, and VR replays. So it'll work the same way as on a TV.

Note, you can also access the VR showroom from brand central and the legendary dealership, so you can look around the exterior and get inside of cars without purchasing them.

A tip on Resident Evil in VR, play seated on like a armless office chair. Standing up and moving the character backward is very disorienting and I felt like I was falling over in a standing position.

GT7 was already great. But It’s almost like a whole other game in VR. Suddenly, Gran Turismo 7 will make sense, the second you strap that headset on.

You can screen capture and capture live video. Broadcast as well. Thing to remember is, your head position. The screen may look level to your eyes, but your head might be tilted in any direction. So, when you snap a Screen shot, it's funny to see the photo askew.

Best I can do is an armed (and dangerous?) office chair, or... my bed. Just checked, and the cable is long enough for that. Not sure how many things will be better there than a seat with a back, but hey, it's an option.

Anyone else not get the beeps for the grid start at race c? I had no HUD and I cant see any start lights anywhere so I was waiting for the beeps but they didnt sound and the grid just pulled away..

Having the HUD disabled unfortunately disables the beeps, and the start lights. Makes it impossible to do a grid start with false start check with the UI off, unfortunately.

Made it to 75th at the time, I think I ended up 85th or something like that. Still pretty good for an old fart, I don't think I'd be that fast on flat screen without PSVR2. Flat screen feels so weird now, trying to look off of the screen to spot corners at times, where in VR it's all just so natural feeling. Shoulders were sore the next day though!

Been doing all the WTC800 and Gr.3 events in the R&D BR-Z GT300. I still can’t get over the detail of these interiors. I keep looking to the left at all the cables, netting, components attached to various surfaces. Incredible. Only way I can describe the way VR looks, from my eyes, is if anyone have been to The Museum of Natural History in NYC. When looking at certain exhibits, it has that feeling of looking at taxidermy behind the glass. I know they’re not real, but the effect the modelling, environment and the enclosure have on what I’m seeing, puts me in that space.

I believe that is the experience when noticing the avatar’s body. The hands, arms and legs look small, but how it’s rendered, I get that feeling of the museum pieces I described above. The Matrix be damned, “…your mind makes it real.”.

The track visuals arent as good in VR as they are on flat screen. But the interiors are MUCH BEYTER!

True about the visuals, but in VR replay, when looking at the clouds moving and the sounds of the cars and the sounds of the rubber meeting the road and the sounds of cars passing, those make up for the not as crisp VR visual environment. The silence and background noises, while ”standing” trackside. It’s like the calm of the VR Showroom, but that calm on a real race track, waiting for the cars to return.

It’s that difference of watching a race on tv and actually watching a race at a track.

Ah had no idea, never turned off the HUD until VR. I race with it on always now but definitely agree it really should keep it on, or better yet just let you toggle which UI elements you actually want. Don't think we'll get that
What is kinda galling though is that PD did actually add the "minimal HUD" right before VR came out for GT7...so their intention was obviously to have that be a viable option. But because you don't have a lap counter etc it's still extremely hard to use in some scenarios.

It's frustrating that they tried and didn't improve it.

Obviously your UI suggestion would be the answer to all our prayers.

I would like the VR experience to be as real as possible, so ideally no hud information at all. But with the same knowledge that other drivers get.
That might require a "hardcore" mode for daily races.
I dont know enough about real racing to know if drivers hear start beeps? I would imagine the time delay would be impractial.
So actual lights boards need to be seen down the grid.

In terms of MFD it could become part of the eye tracking feature, if the race car has a display if you look at it it could zoom in a bit to make quick adjustments.

And I would like pit radio from an AI engineer.
two way radio. So you can actually the choose what tyres you want before you enter pitlane.
Having to choose fuel/tyres on a menu as you enter pits is completly gamey.
Unless anyone know of anything like that in real racing?

If the Mic cant be used to voice detect tyre choice.
At least a small update could be choose fuel and tyres in the MFD while on track.
And keep the VR view for the pits....

Oh and just for fun there should always be 3 second unsafe release penalty for any car in 1st place that leaves the pits.

I agree with you big time… I would love to have an engineer telling me critical information throughout the race. I would also like a feature in which I believe can take GT7 or just the series to another level for online experience. Technically you could do this but the grid would be so small, but if we had the ability to spectate peoples races you could technically have your friend as your engineer.

A full room of 16 with another 16 people spectating the race acting as engineers would be awesome! You could disable hud for the full grid making the driver rely on their engineer for information throughout the race. I have already done this with my friends and it’s amazing.. it no difference in what I watch with the Iracing guys and their teams and ACC guys… They help the driver throughout the race… granted they also have the race manager which is also a huge help and would like something like that in GT7. As many have said we need something helping with a little bit of more information.

I have pretty much the same information available to me in GT7 as in the real race car. Lap time information may be a bit more detailed in the real car vs the MFD timing display in GT7, but that's it. I choose to run without radio as I'm a one man operation, and I can't really think of anyone I would want to hear a running commentary from during a race anyway.

I suppose it could be entertaining for some, however.

The engineer in PC2 is fine for me. Relaying weather, overheating(if following too close to the car ahead-PD would need to add something like this), severity of any damage accrued during the race. Engineer also updates players race pace, laps left or time left til race is finished. Advises leader pitting, faster cars about to lap the player in a multi-class race.

When pitting, PC2 does have a menu, but you can preselect to have the right tyres fitted, due to the change in track and/or weather conditions.

If GT7 was designed with PSVR2 as the ideal way to play this game, an engineer is an essential option.

It got here a day early!

I will say, the display itself was probably a bit overhyped, but overall I'm having a great time. Thankfully I didn't need any time to adjust to avoid getting sick, but it'll be a while before my lap times recover. Worth it though.

I had no intention of getting PSVR2, it wasn't even on my radar, then yesterday I stumbled upon this thread and this morning I bought one. Oops
🤣 well done - you won’t regret it, but as I keep saying: take it easy to start with; build up your VR sessions over the first few weeks and everything should come together nicely. If it looks blurry, give your brain chance to stop trying to refocus your eyes.
