GT7 & PSVR2

I'd been looking forward to Motorsport 8, but this has killed it for me I think.
All of the footage I've seen with FM8 has been with a controller (not one mention of using wheel and pedals). And seeing how FM7 had the most horrible wheel feedback in history, I'm gonna guess it'll be the same for 8. Time will tell, but I'll be waiting to buy it after seeing some reveiws on YT with people who have cockpits.

Man this thread moves fast! Does PSVR2 need it's own gtplanet section? Anyways someone was asking for a vid with no hud. It's a lot more immersive w/o HUD but it would be cool if we could push a button and have it toggle on and off in the race. Same with leaderboards. I imagine PD will be updating this experience for a long time in the future. It'll probably only get better.

Thank you again for taking the time to do this. Much appreciate 👍

PSVR2 has built in Tempest 3D Audio, it works great with the earbuds and even better with the Pulse 3D, but apparently it works with any other headsets even if I never tried myself. Many people seem to misinterpret the fact that that you cannot access the settings with not being able to use it.
It's enabled by default and if you go to the "3D audio for headphones" menu with the PSVR2 turned on, you've got this:

View attachment 1234468

It's not easy to see in this photo but the option is greyed out while the slider is on the right. You cannot disable it while playing in VR.

Maybe the issue that people have with GT7 is that the game seems to use 3D audio the same way that it uses it on flat version and don't serm to take account of your head movements.

But if you try Runner or Horizon, the 3D audio feels great!
whenever I use the PSVR2 the sound goes flat to stereo no matter if I use my pulse headphones or my sony surround system and if I use my surround system the receiver informs me that the signal changed to pcm stereo.... :(

Edit:
The point is: the PSVR2 is truly in its own way the latest and greatest technology at the moment for it's relatively low entry price.

Unfortunately it is not comparable to the latest technology found on 2D 4k 8K flat oLED TV screen.

Let's stop comparing apples to bananas...

I am so happy for you all ………..But my head still feels dizzy and can’t play more than a lap…I am the only….?
Unfortunately, this seems to be completely a genetic thing about motion sickness. It's similar to rollercoasters. Some people (like me) love them, and even though we can feel disoriented a little, they don't make us sick.

Other people, like my wife, have a much lower tolerance and a tendency to develop motion sickness easily. She gets dizzy with GT7 in 2D!

For me, the VR never really gets to me, even if I play for a couple hours in a session (I was hacking around on Grand Valley last night for 2.5 hours).

For some people, I've read that if you take it slow, your brain will eventually adapt to it. @Jordan has a really good post on the forum here about this and some of the things to try.

Good luck. I hope you're able to get to a point where you can enjoy this amazing immersive experience.

I need some help friends

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I turn on my PS5, Play a game and then decide I want to drive.

I plug in the headset and BEFORE I turn it on, I disconnect the hdmi cable to the tv.

When I turn the headset on the 120 video is still grayed out and disabled.

What am I doing wrong?

I felt my stomach go through the floor the first few races. One thing not many people are talking about is the elevation you can see that you can't in 2D. Hills look like hills.. it's so weird. The Nordschleife is totally different animal now. There are slight inclines and declines that I had no idea were there in 2D. I can see the big ones, but it's the smaller ones that you can't see in 2D especially that are so obvious in VR, like in real life.

nothing the 120htz thing is only for when your running the tv at the same time and in cinematic mode in vr without the tv plugged in the psvr goes to 120 automaticly when in pancake mode

do anyone else get a kinda funky vision after a whole day of doing VR laps?? it feels a bit like I see the whole world through the VR headset right now and my eyes do not focus correctly?? :embarrassed:
Yes Commender.
A one hour session is enough for my eyes to see flurry in there...

Gotta take breaks guys...

Don't push it.

But it feels great with the perspective... No 2D fat screen can ever reproduce...

Just take care of your eyes. Don't do more than 2 hour sessions guys .

it can happen, I remember doing 6 hour sessions of skyrim vr in my rift s and feeling like I was still in the game afterwards to the point of having skewed depth perception

nordschleife will kill your stomach if you not have your VR legs yet :D

yeah I guess I got a little hooked on this now xD but I take breaks all the time after each race but yeah better take it a bit easy :)

The immersion is really what does it for me, sure it's not 4k but man it feels like you're there. Unfortunately my vr legs gonna take a while and certain courses with lots of elevation changes are tough. I can probably go 30 min at best before im dizzy and on verge of headache. Still worth it tho

Haven't even considered this course yet, too scared lol. Grand Valley destroyed me first day

So, there's no benefit, no increased fidelity by playing with the TV off?

In my opinion, soooo much better looking without the HUD. I only play GT7 without the HUD on 2D Mode, imagine VR.

Something about that windscreen looks crazy good. I have a question to any VR user -

Do the cars still shake or vibrate? If you look stop you car on 2D mode, and have it idle, if you look closely on the cockpit view while looking behind you can notice the seats vibrate slighlty because of the engine. I'm not sure if this is a camera glitch or if the seats are truly vibrating (attention to detail), if they are, they will show the same in VR2. Soon I'll post a gif to show what I mean
Yeah and the wind screen looks way more convincing in 3D too. I never noticed that vibration but that's a good idea to implement. All that shaking is just head movement but in the goggles it is actually stabilizing what you see I think, because the headset is going up and down, not the image.

For anyone finding it blurry, like I did, it’s getting better each day I play it. Maybe what’s been mentioned in this post about vengeance-accommodation is true:

I found it hard to focus clearly on anything day 1, everything was blurry but if I closed one eye things were clear.

Interesting, thanks for posting this. I'm new to VR so there's still a ton I don't know, but I've definitely noticed things like the dashboard elements getting easier to focus on in the few days since I started. Not sure if it was getting better at finding the sweet spot or this.

I think I understand what you're talking about, and I'm pretty sure this happens in VR. I'll try to double check today, any examples for cars where the effect is strongest?

I've also noticed that the drivers legs actually jiggle based on the bumps in the road and terrain. There's a lot of attention to detail from PD.

Yes, turning off TV has no benefit. What it shows is your left eye display with minimal additional post processing (the Gran Turismo logo).

And with TV turned on you can enable "Tracking Support" to help PSVR2 track with a border pattern displayed on TV, making tracking more stable.

Ok. Got it. I do like the idea of locking it to the TV screen since my Playseat faces the TV

well I tested it a bit on the first day and found it increased fidelity a little but also improve tracking alot but have not tested it since then since now I just play without the tv running and connected at all it also saves me a little on the electric bill :D

But it could be the improvements are just my imagination since others say they don't see any? :embarrassed:

Played a few hours last night 1v1 racing a friend who helped me get into sim racing last night, first I've played of netplay in VR, super great experience. Gave Daytona another shot with an LMP car and the banking didn't bother me at all this time, still weird but guess my seat is on a gyro lol. Going side by side on the banked turns is awssome. Also took the 86 Gr.4 out to Grand Valley and it's a ton of fun on that track.

Afterwards I took the newly added Citroen around St. Croix to look around and have a really smooth joy ride. Wanted to park on a hill and it dawned on me I could use the handbrake to actually park the car instead of the normal use of failing very hard at drifting 😂

Guess long sessions don't bother me. Did take breaks intermittently though, but no different than how I usually play this game. Gonna try out the 1hr race at Spa today, looking forward to it

Yep...since the first day trying it I've felt a bit groggy and off. Guessing there are some changes happening in my brain. Trying to read text on my computer at work has been a bit strange feeling.

EDIT: Additionally, I've felt very tired. Kind of made me want to go to sleep. Which is also similar to how I feel when I'm on the ship I work on and we are moving around from the swell.

Yes! I am in the army of the people who suffers from car sickness as well. Anyway, everyday with vr goes a little better, but still at the end of the day I feel like somebody punched me in the face :(

Do not disconnect your TV. Fire up the PS without powering up the PSVR. Go to Settings>>Screen and Video>>120 Hz Output. Turn this off.
Next, power on the VR2 and place your face in it. Go to Accessories>>PlayStation VR2>>Video Output. Set Output 120Hz Video to VR Headset and HDR Output to On.

Back out. Restart your PS5 and after it boots power up the VR and stick yer face back in it. Go back to Settings>>Screen and Video>>120 Hz Output. It'll be greyed out but it should still show as Off.

Not sure if that will fix whatever problem you're perceiving but it seemed to have smoothed out some of the whoopsies I was getting when my eyes don't seem to want to track around a sharp corner. What I mean here is, if I get lazy looking down/around track and let my eyes fall to a static, straight ahead state and go around a corner, even a slow one, I was getting a dizzy sensation. After changing those settings last night that seems to have moderated considerably.

On another note;
So far I've gotten through license IA-10 with the following results to my main account.

Excel seems to do very weird 💩 with time formats when they go negative. Or something. Which is why there is another column with opposite subtraction direction and formatting. Only way I could figure out how to get both values to display.

Without doing S it appears I'm a second and half faster over all with VR. Will be running S here shortly.

I believe you are seeing the ###### symbols because the number is too long for how wide the column is. Maybe try making the column wider and it should fix it?
