GT7 September Update Predictions

If this was about the Intellivision precedent I mentioned earlier, the FTC did investigate Mattel Electronics because people keep complaining about the promised computer upgrade not being released to the point customers (and thus, the FTC) got irate.
Just seems Kaz/PD/Sony covered their behinds with Kaz’ announcement and any niggles the game still has.

Maybe we should be patient on DLC content coming besides, licences and copyright to get new content through these updates.
No offence!!!!

Being patient is one thing but how patient must one be before the game is actually at a suitable standard cause then there’s a lot a patience required which may be too much of a weight which just makes the whole experience ultimately more disappointing than it already is.

As far as DLC content goes, if you are referring to paid DLC, then I hope that doesn't happen - it would feel like a slap-in-the-face if thy held back quite an amount of content behind a “paywall” and encouraging players to purchase credits through micro-transactions is more than ridiculous enough already.

I believe player patience will continue to slowly fall further if updates are minimal like they have been already - I could be wrong but I’m just basing it off the fact that the game still has numerous issues to fix (e.g. lobbies) which yes, I understand things like that can take time but dropping new and additional content doesn’t need to be ridiculously long term.

Just my opinion so feel free to say what you will.

To do a serious prediction guess this time, I'm looking at the cars in the datamine and trying to predict themes that can be made into menus. There seem to be quite a few 4-Door AWD cars, actual rally cars (Gr. B), and some classic touring cars. There is also the Chevelle as the lone remaining "classic" American Muscle car and I think that will be added in September. So I'm predicting:

1970 Chevelle SS (to release next to a Classic American Muscle Car Menu)
Italdesign Exeneo Vision Gran Turismo (No menu, but since there is a rally variant, PD will probably release the base model first)
1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R R31 (To build towards a Classic Touring Car Menu)

Given the sheer number of rally cars in the datamine (production and Gr.B), I suspect that there is going to be a major update at some point which will include more than the usual 3 Cars. Could they all come at once (wishful) with Pikes Peak? Will we see more rally cross tracks to take advantage of the cars? (Spa and the Nurburgring RX could be added)

I'm also thinking there's going to be a larger "Holiday Pack" in December which will add the outlier cars that don't really fit a menu theme including:

1928 Bugatti Type 37 A Grand Prix
1958 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C1)
1981 DMC DeLorean S1
1992 Jaguar XJ220
2012 Caterham Seven Super Light R500
2018 Toyota Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge 4WD

Maybe we should be patient on DLC content coming besides, licences and copyright to get new content through these updates.
No offence!!!!
DLC and licenses? I think you got it all wrong. Who wants new content (cars, tracks) when PD can't even make good use of those they already put in GT7?

Patience? We've been very patient for all the years of development and the 6 months we've been playing the game.

I predict less people will care, thus less Macrotransactions will be sold. In response PD will lower event payouts even more with the goal of forcing more people to buy the Macrotransactions but in reality only making less people care about the game and the cycle will continue.
Eventually GT8 will be announced and we start all over

My ultimate dream is to have a 3rd or 4th generation Pontiac Firebird in GT but it just doesn't seem like it will ever happen. I'd love to see an 80s or 90s American sedan like the Oldsmobile Cutlass or Pontiac Grand Prix so I could make some proper NASCAR liveries. I know, I know.. all the Europeans can recoil in horror but I loved watching old NASCAR races with my father when I was a kid and I have a ton of nostalgia for the old days of the sport. Not fan of it now.

I know you said no offence, but mate, can you seriously ask this?
Asking a Gran Turismo player to be patient? Seriously?

Lets get into a little bit of history shall we?

December 2013. The last numbered Gran Turismo title. To make it worse, it was only a PS3 title and the PS4 was released 1 month before in November 2013. And don't even get me into talking about the game itself which was a massive let down...

So we had to basically wait a few more years to actually have a "next gen" Gran Turismo title and finally get rid of those horror cars from the PS2 era that were still plaging the franchise in 2 of its PS3 titles.

4 years later, October 2017, we get the release, finally, of a next gen PS4 title Gran Turismo... ......... Only to end up being a game that is nothing less than just a hobby for a niche playerbase, only focusing on Online Racing competition and not the actual career mode.
And yes, I say a niche playerbase because that was exactly what this game was for. Look at the stats:

5%... FIVE!!!! Only 5% of the entire playerbase who bought and played Gran Turismo Sport completed more than 20 races in Sport Mode.
95% of the playerbase basically did not give a crap about Sport Mode, which was what this game aimed for, and had to contend with mostly half-assed add-ons via updates just to make some players "busy" playing offline content, and never had the chance to live through the true Gran Turismo experience of a true career, tuning cars, climbing the the ladder, etc.

Almost 3 years later, June 2020. Finally, we get the announcement of a numbered Gran Turismo title, and this time it is going to be a next gen title released for the PS5.

Almost 2 years later after that announcement, March 2022... ... And the rest is history as we know it.
And 6 months later, and we still have barely improved from that "starting" point.

I think the Gran Turismo playerbase has had more than enough patience.

This isn't even an open world game with a narrative, voice actors, a huge map that needs extreme attention to detail, several mechanics involving the movements of NPCs, enemy AIs and the protagonist itself.

This is a goddamn racing game FFS. How hard can it be other than the car/track modeling and physics? All else is basically coding menus for races/championships/licenses, etc.

Last Thursday of the month, dear chap.
Or 4th Thursday. The June update was on the 4th Thursday (6/23), not the 5th (6/30). Of course, we're talking PD here, so mileage may vary.

@Grimm6Jack, meet Gran Theft Auto's single-player mode. GTAV has been around since the PS3/XBox 360 era, and other than the first-person view (introduced for PS4/XBOne/PC) and ray-tracing/HDR (PS5/XBS...but not PC), it's the exact same thing that came out...9 years ago. Even the online portion, for which all of the post-2013 content (other than first-person view and ray-tracing/HDR) was made exclusive, has the same basic game engine as the PS3/XB360 versions, though Rockstar crippled the PS3/XB360 versions in 2015 by not making any more content available there and finally killed off those versions last year.

GTA 5 single player mode was a complete version of the game that took many hours for the average player to complete. And the game was rock solid as well, the user scores of the game pretty much say it all...
Only in the more recent years has it started to go down a bit because people are simply fed up with the game.

Regardless, I am truly expecting that when GTA 6 comes out, it will blow everyone's minds. If I wait 8-10 years for a next game to be released, but it ends up being a masterpiece? I'm absolutely fine with that.
In fact, it technically can't be stated to be a 10 year wait, because the same studio after GTA 5, worked on RDR2, which was released 5 years later, and RDR2 is arguably one of the best games OF ALL TIME. So, with that taken into account, you aren't technically waiting 10 years, since this same studio did release RDR2, we are just waiting 10 years for another GTA.

PD on the other hand only has Gran Turismo to work for and they failed miserably after almost 9 years. A racing game ffs, not an open world map with a gigantic map that has a story/narrative.

The one game or studio you could've made a more direct comparison in terms of overall disappointment after hype created over time, would be Cyberpunk from CD Projekt.
I'm of course only talking about the big deal games with huge budgets.

Don't expect GT8 anytime soon unless PS6 shows up early
With the way things seem to with the last two numbered releases, I bet GT8 will release in time for a notable anniversary for GT. GT6 was released roughly for the 15th anniversary, with GT7 being for the 25th. So I guess GT8 will be for the 35th? Maybe the 30th, at the earliest.

EDIT: I also predict that there will be no new tracks later this month, but I do predict there being an all-new venue in October, then an additional layout in December. That's because we had the Spa 24h layout in April, the introduction of Watkins Glen in June, then the three Catalunya layouts in August. So it seems to be a bi-monthly pattern of layout-venue-layout, meaning an all-new venue is very likely to be next in October. I also unfortunately do not predict any historic layouts being added - as much as I'd like to see Fuji Speedway circa the 1960s - though I'd say there's still a lot of potential for other contemporary layouts. For example, we still don't have an additional layout for Colorado Springs, despite following a naming format that implies there being other layouts, just as we saw with Sardegna, and most recently, Alsace. I also bet we'll see rain get added to Tokyo Expressway South, as well as West, North, and Outer (as opposed to Central) variants. (Rain at Daytona would be splendid, too. It's Florida!)

As for real-world layouts, I could see the Bugatti Circuit being added to Le Mans, or the return of Suzuka West, which I miss dearly. There are also various karting circuits at some courses - I think Spa-Francorchamps was a notable one - but I feel like that'd be a bit too niche to be worth developing and implementing. Then again, this is PD we're talking about, and I feel like I can never truly predict them - a trait that I both love and hate sometimes.

EDIT2: I also predict at least one bonus and one extra menu, maybe even two for each, complete with some nice prizes like tickets for engines/parts. Though I'm unsure when/if they'll ever get around to that Instagram integration - it says they're still working on it.

I don't want to say this; I think the Honda NSX GT500 '00 (Honda Castrol MUgen NSX) would be a perfect car for a holiday car pack at some point since it's livery are christmas colors (Green, Red, & White).

Think it's better if they release that new Vantage now, or all the other datamined new cars for that matter, the more they wait the older they become, not that i care but most of the new car list has the recency of Project Cars 2 which came out in 2017.

No new track this month would be sad. It wasn't uncommon on GTS to get some layouts and then brand new tracks month-to-month.

I don't understand why GT doesn't lean in to being an unofficial official Super GT game to be honest - they played a big part in building international popularity for the series with the amount of content included for it in the older GTs, and it's a shame they don't carry that legacy with pride.

So much potential for cool race cars, modern and classic - all of which would be awesome to see. Craving that classic JGTC NSX to complete the classic trio, which would be a huge waste to not see return.
And quite literally the only ones that can do that, as I don't really know any developers in Japan making simcade race games

To the people obsessed with the idea of selling cars - why? Why is this feature being brought up over and over and over again?

Is it because you want more credits to make purchases with? You do realize that PD can just raise the prices of all cars to make the change irrelevant, right?

Is it to clear up a seemingly cluttered garage? Okay, that might make sense. But the collection page will still have a bunch of empty silhouettes. Will that be the new in thing to express annoyance at?

Perhaps it's to rid yourself of duplicates. Sure, but how many duplicates do you have that makes the ability to sell cars something you need post haste? Like a heart attack victim desperately needing his Aspirins.

Or maybe you went ham on the roulette glitch and now have a hundred NSX Gr.B cars sitting in your garage. In which case I have zero sympathy and I doubt PD feels any different.

I'm sorry but the hive mind here has reached Reddit levels. "The ability to sell cars" somehow became a buzzword on GT Planet and it's been annoying to see it pop up again and again and again.
1000% agree. I can't wait to see the rage when its implemented and its identical to the GTS model of selling, and people have to press "delete" 166 times to rid themselves of their NSX hoard. Hopefully the McLaren F1 road car will be in the legends lot at the same time for some added spice when it passes through again without being purchased.

There are so many things that will make this game better and yet stupid **** such as "selling cars" is by one of the most desired things on these types of threads, and it genuinely wouldn't do **** all to make the game better to play/add replay value, apart from giving people who have NSX's saved from the bonanza the ability to buy the expensive cars that they will then complain are "undriveable" since the efforts to evolve the physics and tuning system were spent on implementing a button to get back pennies for a duplicate or delete a prize car.

Also, In the same spirit as the constant harping on about selling cars, why are we obsessing over "glitching" the Tomahawk and who gives a **** if it makes a race you farm endlessly anyway end two minutes faster? The energy spent posting about hating your game experience as you spend it driving a car so egregiously outlandish and unachievable, on what amounts to tires you would find on a baseline Camry, all to gain 5% more credits per hour then you were before, is just absurd.

That time could be spent learning the PP system functions to a point as a community that we can present a coherent and accurate argument to PD on why this happens and ways it can be fixed so they realize this needs an overhaul ASAP? Cause right now endlessly posting on forums and reddit about how quickly you can make money in the Tomahawk is only making them implement changes to unbreak this stupid ass car no one cares about from being abused for a credit farm that literally no one enjoys.

Because of the constant abuse of one car for small monetary gain, you're forcing them to react without fixing, but undoing portions their own system of balance by removing what and how it can measure performance. This means the system is not being evolved and made better, or being changed in ways to better reflect gains on track when the only thing they see from a majority of the community when it comes to the PP system is that we're always looking for a new way to break the tomahawk to a quarter of what its PP should be to enter it in a race that's against some mostly stock sports cars.

It's insane the amount weight I see people place on farming credits with this absurdly unrealistic car that has no business even having a PP rating in the first place since nothing will ever be able to achieve that performance on tarmac. This nonsense makes getting to the important things to fix that much harder to fix. Having a mostly accurate PP system would create competitive races outside of BoP Gr3/4 races in sport mode, and, if there is a god, even let us tune the cars we love to perform mostly accurate to reality. I'm sure we would all LOVE to lower our damn cars instead of making monster trucks out of them since doing so makes the game drop the PP rating but somehow increases the grip by a huge amount on track.

Things like that make people stop playing since no scale to judge performance plays in favor of those who don't want a fair race and will take advantage of whatever they can. This is why BoP came back after only 2 weeks of letting people tune their own cars in sport mode.

With that said, the physics and PP system go hand in hand, so I'm not saying just fixing the PP is the single most important thing, but with the physics in a decent place after the last update, I think this is the missing link to making things feel accurate, balanced, and fair when building cars to race in lobbies or against our friends or just rip around your favorite track for a while. Imagine setting the PP limit on your lobby and knowing for a fact that the performance of whatever you're up against will be similar in terms of lap time of any car in the game if its close to that rating. Making a Trustworthy PP system would create variety for lobbies and custom races that would be amazing to be a part of. Also this would make for different ways to get your car in the performance window you desire, which without a doubt would make the current content so much more filling as we're drip fed crumbs each month like lab mice on life support.

Apologies for the rant, but maybe we wouldn't care so such about which of our favorite cars are missing from this game or how long it takes to farm credits if we could make the favorites we do have a joy to tailor to our liking the way we would if we owned them IRL.

tldr: Constantly breaking the Tomahawk and obsessing over using it to farm perpetuates a cycle of unbreaking rather than fixing and evolving PP system to accurately measure performance. Fixing the glitch by any means seems to always take priority for PD over resolving and bettering whichever in game system is being abused.
