GT7 Tuning Calculator - Download v3.3 all new cars added!!

I have a couple of examples of cars, though not terrible at handling, as I have worked them quite a bit, they still have some tendencies I could do with advice on how to resolve (if possible).

First 1 is the 911GT3'09. I find this car very easy to lock up its wheels or to lose its back end while braking. In fact pretty much any braking over 50% will cause the car to lose grip. It may just be that the car is over powered for the Sport Medium tires but I'm hoping we can tame the behavior. Overall I feel this car has very little mechanical grip.

These are the settings I got to.

This is the tune of the car. The LSD is modified from the recommendations. I basically had to double the braking sensitivity to make the car not crash out every time i touched the brake.

Next up is the NSX Concept GT'16. This car had some what unpredictable handing under braking. In some ways it is predictable but it makes for a nervous drive. If you brake (25% for instance) while turning in, the car will bite violently and want to oversteer. If you brake a a moment early, and then turn in, it will understeer and not grip at all. The point between understeer and oversteer is very narrow but usually I can find the right amount, but it can be quite dangerous. In addition I have to run TCS2 with this build otherwise is can easily power spin out. The LSD is not doing its job on balancing the power to tractive force. I would like to get this where TSC1 is all that is needed for RM tires.

Other things I tend to notice is that the cars tend to feel very "floaty". For example, I found +2 ARB for the 911 was much better. This may just be me being used to GR4 and GR3 cars more but overall I feel the app tunes on the "soft" side.

Advise welcome!
the biggest problem with the setup on the 911 is the front\rear balance, it needs to be closer to 48\52(thats why it wants to swap ends under braking, heavy in the rear) for a MR car. 2nd your shocks and springs are set way to weak, set your shocks around 33\43 front and back, and your springs around 3.20. Been playing this game for 30 years, tried it all, this will work better I guaranty it.

Interesting but the whole shock and spring setting was left to this tuning tool. If that produces things too weak then it's not very good then. As for the weight balance, I already have ballast over the front. Are you suggesting just adding a ton more that will make the car very heavy?

1huge oversite i see with your calculator is the front\rear car balance, which has a huge affect on the stability of the car. Should be around 52\48 for FR & FF cars and 48\52 for MR.

you may have to add some power to compensate but increased stability will make it worth it. TRY IT

tried your setup and as you said it is unstable under braking, here's what I came up with that works. Notice the stability went from -0.40 to -0.27, something he needs to account for in his APP.

Hi. Just noticed your posts, is there something that you need help with? I see comments “not very good” @TheNormsk or “huge oversite”. Ballast position is not something the tuning app can calculate for you, same as ride height it has to be self assessed and adjusted, if your workaround to correct a vehicle/driver fault is to add more stability by way of ballast balancing then that’s fine. The app will then tell you the correct balance of springs and shocks for that front/rear weight balance. If your car feels too soft which includes pitching/rolling/yawing then there is a setting in the app to stiffen the suspension. I cannot guarantee that you can enter a cars parameters into the tool and it give you a perfect setup for every car straight away.

The calculator has always been good for providing a base setup for my cars. I then tweak the suspension and LSD individually to dial in a setting to my liking. It easily saves me 2-3 hours in car settings. Keep up the great work!

I’ve had some good tunes and a couple I didn’t really like. But I don’t use it as much as I thought I would. Several factors - first the inability to really integrate w PS5/GT7 system means its a specific set of somewhat tedious steps to get the data into the app.

I pretty much always play in VR so I need to set aside specific time to do a tune. I do use an iPad and the PS remote play app to do this offline. But when in VR going back and forth to tweak the app & tune gets old and my seat time is somewhat limited

So also haven’t fully absorbed the +/- effects on how the car behaves. might be handy to save them as a group preference to apply all at once

If I’m racing against humans and tunes are allowed, great worth the time for some events, but in BOP races the tunes are negated anyway so I’ve become more used to driving the default tune as much as wanting to tune it

And often I really just want a quick tweak for a bit of undesired behavior, so learning what to do when and using that to adjust the setup on the fly happens more often anyway

Ideally I’d want more of a coach that I could use Siri like and pose questions to, but the integration doesn’t exist to pipe it into the game and mic/phones

I like that idea, although probably not much possibility of something integrated into the game itself.

I have mentioned this before but it is still not fixed in that the ARB adjustment is broken in the app/website. If you adjust ARB and recalc absolutely nothing happens.

Hi @TheNormsk

Is this just this car or any others that you are having this issue?
Ok, I went and checked some other cars and they do adjust so it must just be the Honda Beat and perhaps similar cars that tend to have ARB 1 settings. I presume the calculator is not generating an ARB above 1 even with ABR +10 adjustment for these lowly cars so is defaulting to a minimum of 1.

I’ll get it checked out to see if there is a calculation problem.

ARB is a difficult value to calculate in GT7 as it is mearly a fictitious number. This car must have a set of values that produce an out of range ARB figure.

After a few checks and tests, I can confirm that this car has parameters that produce an out of range calculation for the ARB.

If you look at the high speed stability figure of +0.36 this is what is throwing it off, this is normally a negative figure, and the majority of the time it is -1.00.

Hello, first of all, I apologize for my poor English. I am a new user of the app and have the Pro version since yesterday. I need a setup for the Porsche RSR 17 (GT3). However, the results for the gearbox are completely unusable. Whether I try it with km/h or mph, the results are always far too high, and the gears are nowhere near realistic. What I am doing wrong?

Hi there,

Welcome! Please share with me the full set of values you have entered including minimum corner speed and have you uploaded screenshot?

Min corner speed 45-50mph.m and in 1st.
Thank you, but the problem persists. With these settings, the gears are so short that the first three gears are practically unusable. Even a slow corner has to be taken in third gear.

We are racing in a league with a standing start, and this gearing makes it impossible because I have to shift into third gear within the first few meters.

Sorry, I’m quite a novice when it comes to this topic. I hope you can help me somehow.

Ahh ok thank you for this info, I also see that 586kw! That’s a lot! 780hp.

I would be more inclined to have top speed at 200mph or slightly more. Then use min corner speed of closer to 60mph in 1st, this way you will have longer gearbox all through.

I have to agree that the gear tuning appears to be unnecessarily hard and convoluted at times. It takes a lot of trial and error to not end up with gear combos that are unusable, with ratios out of range per gear.

I would add that I have found that the app really bias's the low gears to be short and then really stretches out the top gears. I'm sure there is an "academic" logic to this but sometime I find the calculator more useful for figuring out the final gear and last gear ratios and then I ignore the rest and set them to what feels right/more drivable to me. Sometimes, it is spot on a lot of times not.

Ok, so it’s not just me then. I was one of the beta testers and had already pointed out this “issue” to hookedonturbo. However, there haven’t been any complaints about it so far. For this reason, I’ve stopped using the gear ratio calculation as well and, like you, have been adjusting the gears manually.

All,

Now we have some feedback that gear ratios are a little tedious and short low gears/long high gears, I will see if we can make some adjustments.

Just so you know the reason that the gearing is calculated the way it is currently (rightly or wrongly) is so that when you shift up to the next gear you are on the max tractive force point in the power band. I’ve got used it and enjoy the freedom of using multiple lower gears for cornering for example breaking into a medium speed corner, I could use 2nd or 3rd as they both quite close, 2nd if I have the grip available and I need to get power early for an overtake or 3rd if I’m looking to save fuel, tyres and keep consistency.

Nevertheless I will perhaps add an option to spread gears more evenly. That maybe the solution to some users issue here.
