GTP Exhaust + Car best Combo's

Man, I want some of your drugs! They must be good! The McLaren F1 is twitchy as all hell!

Back on topic - The Ford XR8 V8 Supercar sounds right, though not quite loud enough.

Good call! That car has had the same awesome sound since GT3. But you're right. It's kind of silent.

Another car that people are discussing here is the RX-7. I've only driven the old FD, and it sounds glorious with the stock exhaust. Just what you'd expect from a Wenkel engine. I like the stock exhaust on the RX-8 as well since it still sounds like a rotary, but you can notice the difference between the RX-7's Wenkel and the RX-8's Renesis. I haven't really bothered to try othere exhaust with these. I would expect the sound getting messed up...

The RX-7 actually sounds close to what you would expect a rotary with aftermarket exhaust to sound like.
Some cars in the game sound realistic standard and also have an exhaust option that sounds realistic for that car with exhaust mod.

The real thing:

Just about the only thing that needs fixing on this car is the rev limit needs to be set to 7500rpm, as that is the hard limit in real life.

Hmm... Let me discuss some of the suggestions in previous posts...

The Audi R8 4.2 sounds good with the stock exhaust. I have no idea if some have noticed, but it's a sample that has been used before in Gran Turismo 4 for the old Audi RS6. It's fine because it's a V8. The Semi racing makes it sound like pretty much every other V8 car in the game.

As I build up more cars in my garage I'll keep on contributing with the thread...

Well, the engines are essentially the same. Only difference is that the R8 has the FSI direct injection version of the 4.2, whereas the RS6 basically adds twin-turbos to the S4s non-FSI 4.2. The stock R8 and S4 exhausts are dead-on to what I have heard in YouTube vids.

That is some nice battle! Reminds me old days of F1, you know when driver skills really made a difference. Nothing to do with soporifics modern F1 championships.

Car: Chaparel 2J race car
Exhaust: stock

Reason: If you do cockpit view, then hold down your look backwards button you get the MOST muscular sound ever produced (better than chase or other cameras or looking forward) Since it shows the lookback of the cockpit as behind the car, your camera is basically on top of the exhaust, so that is why it sounds so good.

See? This is what I'm talking about! PD gets it so right with some cars that it scares me. Awesome video, btw. not only for comparison, but because of that amazing battle:tup:

Lets Get some Data On the rest of the Subaru Fleet, we could use some BMW's as well

Can you change the RX-7 on the list, it seems only the Spirit R type A has the weird sounding racing exhaust. All the others sound like a RX-7 rotary with any exhaust, excluding race cars which I haven't tried.

So on the OP list do you want me to say in brackets, (all except Spirit R type A) ? let me know if you have a better idea because I was unaware that all the RX-7's sounded right except for the Spirit, GREAT FIND! :)

I've tried many of the Boxer 4 Subarus and most of them, if not all of them sound perfect with the stock exhaust. There are a few that have a "burbly" sound with the semi-racing exhaust, but it really doesn't make justice due to how artifitial it sounds.

As for the Boxer 6 Legacy it sounds magnificent with the stock exhaust as well. Just like a Porsche!

As for BMW's, the 120i and 120d sound great with the sports exhaust. They keep the 4 cylinder sound.

The Z4 sounds perfect with the Stock exhaust as well, though the sports exhaust also is fine. It does sound like a six cylinder, though not your average BMW six cylinder. With the M version, I would keep the stock exhaust.

The Z3 sounds godly with the stock exhaust.

Dodge Viper GTS '99 None unfortunately

Dodge Viper GTS '02 Also none.

NB: The stock one is the ''closest'' from a V10 sound even though it sounds more like a V6. Semi-racing and racing sound like V8's.

I thought I was the only one that noticed this. They have been carrying the same sound sample since first introduced in GT2. Why can't they just put the same sound that the other Vipers have? No matter what year, Vipers always sound like Vipers... It's a shame... I love the GTS so much, and it looks so fantastic as a premium, that it makes me so sad they didn't fix the sound...

I thought what was absolutely bizarre is how the Fiat 500F with racing exhaust makes the EXACT SAME engine sound as the Subaru Impreza Rally Car '03...

The Toyota MK3 Supra (Standard & Premium) sounds like a 1J with a sports/semi-racing exhaust, the Ford Lighting sounds nice with a titanium exhaust & the Spoon S2000 sounds closest to any Honda in the game in my opinion. Maybe except the Integra Type-R 05' with a titanium exhaust. :sly:

I wonder how this hasn't been mentioned:
CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 C6

Also, the RUF CTR2 sounds great with the stock exhaust. It does have the boxer rumble it should have :D

DJones
The Cobra GT sounds amazing with the full racing exhaust

None of the other exhaust mods change the sound, but boy golly do the engine mods! Especially on v8's.

+1

The description of said sound can only be depicted using words that are not family friendly and I can't be posted on a family friendly forum.

It's that good. I take it to cruise/cop rooms and just drive slow in high gear. At night rumbling along waiting for a ricer to come up behind you. Wait for the turn when they are riiiight behind you them downshift and blast off! If you're both racing using only your side of the road and there are cars passing going the other way... It's the scariest/coolest/must fun thing I have EVER done in gt5 (capital period)

Edit: YESSSSSS!!!!!!! IT WORKED!! I'm just super excited about the split quote thingy lol

Agreed with the cobra part

Mazda Demio 99. Think I went a bit mad with this one & bought everything for it.

It has high milage, needs an oil change & an engine rebuild but my god this thing is loud! I mean seriously loud, sounds like a v12 with a broken manifold at low revs & some kind of industrial saw at hight revs.

Not sure if it counts as a good combination but definitely puts a smile on my face when I race it.

Mini Cooper (Old one) with racing exhaust. Sounds utterly off its chops...

Now I think that the Mini Cooper 1.3i sounds the best with the Semi-Racing exhaust on. It sounds like my Mini in real life, probably thats why I like it :sly:

But it really doesnt. Hear it in real life, its way overrated in the game.

That is True. But how do you duplicate that sound? It's to beautiful

Can We get some Data On Mercedes Benz's? (SLS AMG aside)

I've talked about the Lutus Esprit, now let me give my opinion on the other two.

The Lotus evora has probably the most awesome sound with the stock exhaust. It almost sounds like an old M3. Havn't tried it yet with the others, though.

The old Lotus Elise sounds correct with the stock exhaust but it lacks some punch, so add the Sports Exhaust and you'll hear that little 4 cylinder come to life.

The new Elise sounds very close to the real thing with the Stock one.
