Go Team Roush!!!!

What a rush!!!! Loving the NASCAR's. Require More throttle control and over all weight makes these wicked to drive.

Race from my perspective in a bit when I am lil more calm. lol btw Excellent racing Spurgy.

Good racing, and a good win by Owens.

I was awful when the tires got worn. Good on fresh ones, but then I just completely fell off.

What a horrible race for me.

My car felt extremely tight going into the corners and loose going out. That's why I kept spinning or getting loose at nearly every corner on the track. Now I have set a bad example for myself and will be seen as a dirty driver. Now you understand why I need a good setup to race clean/competitive.

I am also using a third-party PS3 controller, though that doesn't have much impact on my driving.

I had no intentions to wreck anyone or ruin their experience. Sorry if I caused problems.

I know what causes this. :) going in to hot abd using a lot of steering to get car to turn. Once you scuff the speed off and car now can grip and turn. You have loads of steering. Which will result in an instant oversteer situation. Slow down on entry. Keep tires under car. honestly try a sport tire for several laps and then go back to the Race. This should accent the problem and get you in control of a looser car. When you switch it will feel like glue. ;)

Good Luck. Tune may be some of it too.

Well, I finished 2nd in three NW road course events last season with a more understeery car, but once I took an oversteery one to Suzuka East in SC, I was 7th... 💡

Yeah, I know that SC has tougher competition, but I was 2nd in qualifying, when the car still felt drivable...

[OFFTOPIC]Would you guys recommend me buying a wheel?[/OFFTOPIC]

To be honest, I think that the Racing Hard tires are responsible for all of the loose and tight cars. This didn't occur when we ran using Racing Medium and Racing Soft tires.

Did you have maximum downforce on the front and rear of the car?

Sounds like you were either low on downforce or just too fast in to the corners, which would account for the inability to turn in on entry.

These cars are heavy, so you really have to slow them down in a straight line and let them roll through the corner before getting back on the throttle.

And every single driver that has a wheel is definitely going to recommend getting one.

I had a great setup, oversteered into corners for a nice turn-in and neutral/understeer on exit, front tires wore out first and I easily managed a 1-stop race, spin at the first corner on first lap cost me some time. Happy with my first overall podium on GTP (have a few class podiums), really fun race 👍

Yes.

I slowed down for the corners around the same area that the other guys did, though for a lot I braked too late. Even when I did turn properly without incidents, I still couldn't keep up.

Thanks for the help. 👍

I heard that they allow for more precision during races, so you can adjust steering, acceleration, and braking more accordingly while driving.

With a wheel. You have better control of steering angle and your arc in and out. The ability to trail brake. Ability to feed some throttle an brake. Smooth inputs.

Not even considering the fun factor and immersion.

A wheel is a no brainer if you play a SIM Racer more the a couple days a week.

The biggest difference with a wheel is that you can be more precise with steering, and you have a lot more throttle control. The throttle control alone would probably fix your problem with oversteering out of the corners.

With the Ds3, if you move the right analog stick up 10% of the way, you'll get 10% throttle, when you move it up 20%, you'll get 95% throttle :banghead:

I use controller n I use "x" as my gas button. My thumb never let's off the gas. When I brake I keep the bas of my thumb on "x" n pivot the tip of my thumb to "box" to trail brake. So I'm constantly holding "x" with my thumb n pivoting to "box" to trail brake. To throttle control I let off of "x" n tap it slightly through turns. I develop a tap rhythm for throttle control. Yes I know it sounds stupid. But that is the best way to use a controller. Screw that stick for throttle. I do this exact thing at every track. And especially the thumb pivot for trail braking at daytona, ssrx, indy n motegi. The throttle control is used to save tires at these tracks. And also for road course turns where the cornering speeds r slower. I hope this helps another controller user.

Erm, my thoughts exactly. That's an odd thing to admit so presume he means something different.

When I'm pushing a car in front of me around daytona, ssrx n indy for example I never let off gas. But I will tap my brakes to make quick adjustments so I don't overrun the car I'm pushing. I have never seen any negative effect by me doing this. I have been racing with you guys for over a year n have never been questioned by this. And if u look at my lap times around those tracks in tandem u prob wouldn't beleieve I tap my brakes when in tandem n not trying to run over the car in front of me. If I'm a tail car in a drafting line, then I let off the gas entirely. I hope this clears things up. Especially woth knelly who thinks everyone is out to brake check him lol. And to add to ur comments of u shouldn't brake at an oval at all, that's just wrong. If u didn't, u would cause accidents. Remember when I tap my brakes, my thumb never let's off the gas as well. Its the subtlties that make driving on a controller an art. Rather than a hassle.

One time dude, one time, with video evidence to prove it. ;)

No mate, I was just curious what you meant as I never recall you getting into trouble for using your brakes. Wasn't accusing you of anything 👍

Sorry, no.
I'm exactly in the same configuration ("x" throttle / "square" brake) and "tap rhythm for throttle control" isn't the best way, it's the oldest / simplest way.
All DS3 pads have sensor control on "x", "square", "circle", etc. The best way to go is to use this sensor control. Tap rhythm was the technic for GT1 and GT2 on PSX (around 12 years ago), when sensor control didn't exist on our controllers.

Interesting. I thought I noticed the sensitivity when I slightly hold "x". But I'm not good at controlling it like that. So you are saying u hold "x" down very lightly for throttle control, sy on a road course? If so, I will need to try that as I. Need improvement on road courses.

Yea, with all cars, on all tracks.
I admit that to do that, you shouldn't be tense, stressed, etc.
You have to know your car perfectly, and the track too.
Be cool, drive smoothly, feel the car... ;)
