This is all starting to seem hypothetically complicated to me.

Personally I think we should just carry on as we are for now.

My thoughts exactly. Unless we get a 10-15 driver spike in interest soon, none of this will even be needed for a long while.

What happens when Driver X stops pushing you around Daytona for the last few laps because his friend tells him he's winning the other race but is running slightly behind on time?

(Hypothetical phone call between Droptop2001gt and ACDCROCKS123 during the end-stage of a split-race decided by best overall time)

"Hey, AC, I'm leading my race, and crossing the start/finish line with three laps to go, with 42 minutes and 12 seconds on the clock. M-Stall is pushing and we are good to go to the end. Where are you?"

"I'm a lap down, but I'm pushing RFLX. He's leading. There are three laps to go, and we're crossing the start-finish line at 42 minutes and 8 seconds."

"Crap, we're four seconds behind you guys. Is there anyone else nearby to help him other than you?"

"No, it's just us."

"Can you stop pushing him so I can make up time on him?"

"Yeah, sure."

Now I can pass RFLX in elapsed time, without ever passing him on the same track, and there's nothing he can do about it.
Now put this scenario on the same track. AC a lap down pushing me the leader, you and Mstall are 4 seconds back, AC backs off, you guys catch me. It works out the same way as it's 3 cars vs 1 now and I would have no shot of victory anyway. I still like the idea, just sayin.

The "hypothetical scenario" pretty much describes every single Super Speedway race that has been run in here. Just substitute 'Mudd' in as the guy getting hung out and... a little too familiar, suddenly. :grumpy:

(just an observation, not picking a fight)

You do have the chance to draft them and slingshot them at the line. It might be only 20% to win or 60% for 2nd place, but it's better than zero chance.

3v1 it's more like 0% to win, 10-15% for second.

I'm not against your heat race idea, I like that too.

I am 120% in favor of the Heat races idea. It is the cleanest, easiest, and most exciting way to do it. You wanna compete with the best? You gotta RACE your way in.

Glad to see that Knelly and Tom agree with my post from a while back.

All these 'if's' and 'buts' do seem quite premature.

We're just throwing ideas out there, it's always good to be prepared for when the time comes. I suppose we could discuss this week's race instead. :sly:

Yeah, shame we had to postpone it. Was really looking forward to Saturday. 600 miles is undoubtedly the longest race i'll ever have taken part in up to now :P

Yep, now I have just enough time to over think my strategy and mess it up

We should run a non-points race this week. What to you guys think?

Erm, don't like that like first bit :nervous:

Up for a Daytona or SSRX Saturday though.

Why don't you guys run an unofficial race at Cape Ring Inside, so we can see if this is a track we would like to put back on the schedule for next season?

From someone who's run 7 TOCA races there, the final double left after chicane is near impossible to go through side by side. Won;t stop people trying though...

Or we could test different road courses. Seeing these cars go around Tsukuba or Nurb GP/F or GP/D would be fun.

I ran NASCAR's around Nurb GP/F for Masi's V8 Supercar Series back in September; not particularly fond memories I'll be honest.

Are there any other tracks you guys want to test? The various Pocono tracks? Custom Toscana tracks (Joe and RFLX had some good ones)? Other road courses?

I love Daytona Road and would enjoy racing there but I'm sure many of these guys would shoot me down, everybody else seems to hate it. I only just managed to get it into my own series

And Indy Road to boot...

To be honest I prefer road course over Ovals. It would be nice to spice things up a bit.. Remember its a game so more the better.
