Just one issue.....
How do I know how much time i'll spend doing a WRS if i've never done one before?
I could go by how I usually do time trials, but that sometimes requires thousands of laps (depending on tuning).

The qualifier does not have tuning, so you are really comparing it to your expected wheel time on a non-tuning week. We're also very good about sharing tunes, so you don't have to be a tuning expert or build your own from scratch to participate. Some of us like to, but it's not a requirement.

Check out this thread to get an idea of how much time people are spending each week.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=234861

Based on the poll results, somewhere between 3 and 8 hours is typical. If you don't think you'll have 8 hours to commit each week, I would suggest not putting that amount into the qualifier, as it can be pretty discouraging if you get placed in a division you cannot keep pace with. My suggestion would be to commit at least 2 hours to each of the sectors, even if you think you are very familiar with the track.

If you think you'll have more time to compete each week, run more. If you really won't ever have that amount of time to spend in a week, go ahead and spend less. But I think you'll find this to be pretty addicting. ;)

When is the next round of additions to the registry.

I admit im curious to know that too. :P

The last round of qualifiers was processed on Feb 2 and here is the guideline from the official GTP_Registry Qualifier thread:

EDK
Once we receive your registration, it will be processed, and if accepted, we will add your new GTP PSN ID to the registry and place you into the correct division for your submission, we will then notify you via PM when once the process is completed. Please allow 14-28 days for your registration to be processed.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I apologize for being pedantic, but I was only voicing my curiosity because I had seen a couple of people submit at the end of January and be added in a few days. That was why I was asking about when the next additions would take place.

I am grateful for the tireless and thankless work that the guys around here do for the WRS. It wasn't my intention for the tone of my message to be harsh or ungrateful. I apologize if it seemed so.

Not a problem. The time varies a lot depending on the number of submissions and the real life workload of the admins. In case you haven't already noticed, the next batch came out today.

Latest round of new drivers

Looks like you're in D4-Gold. Congratz and welcome. 👍

I sent in my qualifying times..
Guess i'll have to wait to see how I did.
Put in a solid few sessions over the last couple days.
Fingers crossed!!!

D1 Gold. :D 👍

Welcome aboard :)

I don't know why I've waited so long to get in on this, but I've just submitted my qualifier time, looking forward to seeing where I place!

What's up guys, I've got a qualifying lap i'd like to submit, but there's a part of the lap where two wheels are on rumble strip, with the other two in grass, and a portion of the two wheels on the rumble strip drift into the grass. Through the entire event, there IS rubber on BOTH wheels contacting rumble strip, there's never a point where they both totally leave.

Not sure if I should just consider this lap "dirty" or what.

EDIT: NVM, i just checked it out in photo mode, and it just BARELY checks out, as two tires in question don't actually contact the grass (it just looks like it, but they're definitely only an inch or so away from it if you zoom in on the move). It still kind of looks like a cutty move when you see it in a replay (chopping the absolute first flat-out left in section 2), but it technically checks out.

As long as those two tires on the rumble strip maintain at least some contact or vertically inline with the rumble or pavement than it is okay. From your description you it sounds clean.

This is all I can say about it.

Yeah, the thing is, I definitely feel 100% confident in saying it was a clean lap, after reviewing the footage pretty closely, BUT, I wouldn't be TOO surprised if Vaxen or another mod were to tell me I couldn't use it. I mean, the footage clearly shows that at NO point in time do I NOT have 2 tires on road surface, it's just that if you didn't slow it down, and drop into photo mode to check it out, you might not have even been able to tell. It's one of those things where I feel like I could 100% confidently submit the lap, and tell anybody who questioned it that I was in the right, but it would still ultimately be there prerogative to make the decision.

EDIT: Here's a screenshot taken during the "deepest point" in the move. You can see the two tires still in contact with rumble strip, but you can also see how from a replay, it would look pretty sketchy until you slowed it down.

EDIT: Gotta log in to view the pic.

By "lap", you are referring to only sectors 2 and 3, correct?

Yup, just using "lap" to refer to a run on each section.

Had to login to PSN to see the pic, but it looks legal to me. You could have actually been farther off toward the wall...as long as the 2 contact patches are touching (or directly above) the red and white rumbles.

Thanks for uploading that. It was my first time ever using the GT5 photo upload feature, so I wasn't aware that you had to log in to view them.

I'm also glad that a mod thinks it's alright! :P

Yep, clean. 👍

It's not uncommon to be forced to use the photomode when reviewing laps. ;)

Guys one question..What if your submited lap times are not valid or too slow?? what happens next?? Can i try again??

My psn id was georgetennisman..I created another one named GTP_Soulis and started all over again so as to participate in qualifing. Did i do something wrong? What else must me done?

PS. I read about failing in the specific article but i am not sure if this, answers my question... Thanks!!

If you submitted your qualifying time with your GTP PSN then you just have to wait till you get put into a division, happens every few weeks or so, one should be coming up soon.

If there was something wrong with your replay, you'll be told what to do.

Don't worry about a slow lap time, you'll still be put into a division, we have a broad selection of abilities here :)

Hello everyone!

I just got in Division 1 (bronze) and i'm very anxious to start racing with you all!
What are the main events for this division?
I'm a newby in this forum so sorry if i'm posting this at the wrong place.
btw how do the promotions work?

-cheers-

Week 54 Thread, every division competes the same car and track combo. Post your splits in the thread to be compared on the leaderboard. Once you're happy with your lap time, you send a message to Fetchbot and send only your lap time (don't post your lap time anywhere else).

Then on Tuesday the results are posted and you'll be able to see where you place, in-terms of your division.
