This is really looking good. Great initative Sphinx 👍

I just see 1 dillema I can understand the reason why everyone has to drive under a GTP tag.

But there is also a valid point why people would want to use their normal account.

At some point the game is going to support trophies, and those will be locked to your PSN name so if you play GT5 with your GTP_xxx account the trophies you gain will not add up with the trophies you have on your normal PSN acount. Some people dont care about trophies, and some play all their games with their GTP_xxx account but there are lots of people who only made their GTP_acount to participate in races with people from this community. They still play all other PS3 titles with their normal PSN account.

Again I am in no way trying to put down this initaitive. I just think it is something that should be thought about before it is made final forever that people could not participate without using a GTP_xxx acount.

I see your point and its a good question.

As for myself i think everyone should run GTP tag as it looks uber sweet seeing the tag on the leaderboards, its also means you are doing something for the team but holding your GTP_Tag proud, and i guess makes it easy for Sphinx to keep track.

As for the Trohpies, well i collect all mine on my normal tag, and use GTP_Tag to run GT5P but i have since transfer all my saves to my GTP account and will prob use in it 24/7 now, i only have 26 trophies so far so not many to worry about, and can get them on this tag by playing though Uncharted again, guess this might be an idea for most GTP members to do before they collect to many trophies.
Also a side note is GT5 will have clan support meaning we might be able to run our standard tags with the [GTP] prefix in front of our names in future that might make it eraser to keep original tags/trophies?

I'm just curious why does the time have to be a secret?
Answer follows.

The issue with lap times and spits is that it gives cheats who have no intention of actually doing a lap the chance to piece together a lap from splits that would put them in the first division but outside the top 10 so they wouldn't have to prove the lap was fair with a replay. Thus people with no right to be in the first division would get in it.

The qualifier is intended to show how well a driver you/we are. Do your best and you will be in the proper division.
In the current WRS qualifier it is recommended to spend as much time on the qualifier as you intend on spending driving the weekly race combo.
If you are a driver who finds your best times quickly then spend the appropriate time on the qualifier (a few sessions). In the WRS time trials I spend anywhere from 3 sessions (last week) to daily sessions on a race combo to come up with my times. I spent most of my WRS time in division 3 and need the extra time to put a fast clean lap in (I'm not too good). We all have a month to qualify so I recommend using it instead of being one of the first to submit.

Besides, if your in the wrong division it will soon become apparent and can be changed with a promotion or demotion. You can demote yourself but the administration hands out promotions.
Like Sphinx said, give your best effort.
I hope this helps.

Well when private rooms come out I'd imagine anyone with an invite will be able to race in them, I dont think they will be...divisionized or whatever :D

i got excited when i discovered the GTP registry(new to the forums, not GT) and made my GTP PSN ID, then started working immediately on my qualifier times. this was all yesterday.. and i sent my time in to sphinx, not realizing that i still had a month to work on it(fail for not reading carefully). i mean, i consider myself pretty fast, and i spent a good 30-45 mintutes getting my lap times down to what i thought was a close-to-perfect run. then i spoke with someone in a chat who had a lap time that put mine to shame by about 5 seconds and now i'm wishing i didn't submit my time.

use all your time guys.. don't do like me.

Hey its all good man, look at it this way, when the divisions are decided, guess who's going to be getting promoted first! :D

LOL!!!!!!!!

j/k j/k..I mean, it's been asked like a million times in this thread alone. I mean, it wouldn't kill you to look like a couple pages back and you will find every question imaginable.👍

its over 800 posts...

You and this other guy shouldn't be discussing qualifier times in private. Everyone agrees to abide by this before taking part, it's clearly written:

  • Do not discuss privately or post publicly any of your splits or final times, or anything relating to this qualifier that would help another driver to improve on his/her final lap time. By taking part in this qualifier you therefore agree to this very strict ruling

I don't know how much clearer I can make this.

I ran the time trial last night. All I can say is "how embarrassing". Sphinx, I don't know if you're willing to create enough divisions to accommodate my lousy time. I forgot to record the splits. So, tonight I'll do that and send a PM tomorrow.

We welcome and accommodate all abilities here.

Just do what you can, Tagger. 👍

I feel the need to adjust the brake balance a bit, but unfortunately that is not possible in time trials :(

Guys, don't come down on yourself so hard. I look at the top 100 and see that I have a long way to go. I did my best qualifier run and am happy with that. Because I know that I can't run that fast for a complete race and would get in their way. So I will end up in devision X and I'm fine with that knowing that I will be with others that are my level. I do feel that I race faster than I qualified.Time will tell. Now I do look forward to race against the top tier drivers in nonGTP events as this will help me improve my skills. Some of them are on my friends list already and I try to hook up with them as much as I can. So relax and enjoy the challenge. No one will be judging you. Just look forward to a season of close racing and fun times.:)

I agree with Kart Racer, I used to look at the fastest guys times and think wow, I'm way out of my league but if you stick with it and you'll surprise yourself. I know for the WRS, I was just hoping I didn't embarass myself too bad and I ended up in Div 2! Keep at it and just try to have fun.

wow, for some reason i thought you had to keep your replay for 6 weeks THEN PM Sphnix
but thats not the case!
i'll send the PM when i get home tonight

not really online often,
internet is terrible, but i am upgrading soon

Guys don't submit your time stright away , in 3 x 20 minute sessions I manged to shave 2 sec of my laptime . So its not all bad :)

Is it considered cheating if you drive your lap with the help of a ghost of a faster driver?

No I wouldn't think so , its like a watching someone and learning the lines.

I just want to show something to all those who clearly don't bother to follow the instructions if it's either a request to be added to the registry, or a qualifying submissions. Every time someone doesn't bother to make sure that the PM sent to me is correct increases my work load. At the moment I have to reply to just under a third of pm's sent to me because they are wrong. with that information in mind, look at the image of my message box to get an idea of what I'm dealing with here.

I should've been sat down eating breakfast the last 45 minutes and need to leave for work in 10 minutes time, but instead I have to deal with people who refuse to follow instructions before I leave. I'm sorry, no more.

If any registry request or qualifying submission is incorrect, it will be ignored. I will not waste my time sending the person a pm to tell them it's wrong any more.

You've been warned. :grumpy:

Thats the right way to deal with it , your going out of your way spending your own time to organize this, the least people can do is follow instructions.

I just would like to thank you for your effort :)

Well, I don't know how good this PM system works since I only sent one (The GTP registry:). Would it maybe be possible for you to forward all the incorrect requests and unimportant questions to a few other volunteers in order to distribute the workload and still ensure some support for people misunderstanding everyting?

Other than that... All I can say is 👍👍 I really love the GTP-Registry idea and love when I get to race against some fellow GTP-ers.

I sent a PM requesting to be added to the GTP_Registry and my qualifying time in the same PM.
thought it would save trouble...
should i have not done this?...
i apologize in advance

Damn Dude that is crazy, why are you not letting others receive PMs to add to a times list? surely there are heaps of Mods or members who could help out with getting PMs of times or to forward it so other mods can reply as GTP_RaaDK said, from the looks of all those PMs u are a one man team, No i in team remember 👍

Because there is really no need if people followed the instructions given. The number of PM's isn't a problem if its managed correctly.

Totally the right way to deal with it. If someone can't be bothered to read this (or any thread) to get the information they need then are they really part of this 'community" in the first place? Part of being in the GTP community is following the threads and knowing what is going on, even with minimal internet time a day you can follow the things you need to.

Wow , I apologise if what I sent you last night had any mistakes. But seriously man share the load with other mods, if I can help in anyway just let me know. There is no way one person can or should handle what is now being called the biggest group of online racers in the world!

I’ll give this Qualifier Race a try. Hopefully there will be a division in regard of my time.

Don’t know much about the WRS, so I will dig the related threads. I like the idea of organized races with balanced driver’s skills and shared enthusiasm for challenging but still fair and clean races. My guess is this registry will also become very handy for when private lobbies and teams will show-up.

By the way, the Suzuka - F430 - S2 combo is a nice one that reminds me lots of good times from previous 600PP events.

Thanks to you Sphinx, giving your time for the success of this Planet. Respect.👍
