Nice work to all, especially Sphinx for putting all this together. 👍

Happy to make Div 2. And also looking foward to stage 2. :)

Woohoo! Top end of Division 3 for me, far better than I was expecting. Not bad for a bit of a n000000000000000000000b. ;)

What's next then? I don't really know how this works.

Sphinx can I ask how the divisions work?

Did you have a time barrier and people had to beat the time to get into the division or...?

At the minute, I'm fourth for the bottom in D1 Bronze. Say when it opens up again in september, 5 people qualify into D1 beating my time, will I be put down into D2?

Owh and by the way, Great job sorting all this out! Top effort

I've launched the GTP Event Data Entry Project.

The goal of the project is to automate the data entry task associated with future GTP events. If you can help out, or just want to kibitz, head over to the above thread and post your thoughts!

Many thanks to Sphinx for all his work on this, and if we can get this off the ground, he'll have to spend less time dealing with data entry and more time to race!

I think it was kind of mentioned before with the numerous D3 Gold's (having more than all of Division 1) its sorted out by times. If I am thinking correctly, (please feel free to correct me Jerry) if someone was to beat your time by a slim margin they would just be added to the D1 Bronze section keeping the all the current D1 bronzes.

Great work, mate. Sphinx needs all the help he can get.

The way it worked in the WRS, and I assume this is based on that, were time barriers. You can never be "pushed out" of the division by people bettering your time. The only way you can move around in divisions is by not being able to compete in yours and thus needing to move up or down in the division. Again, see the WRS (I assume).

You'll stay in your division regardless of how many other drivers join you in division 1.

Awesome job Sphinx.
You deserve a Knighthood or at the very least become GTplanet's first offical saint

Gold Div 4 = too much Guitar Hero and not enough GT5P :sly:

interesting :)

know your upto your eyes and may not veen have decided yet so how would the relegation promotion work?

I take it the above would be relevant to people who arn't in a league at all yet and joining via a new qualifier?

how will you be letting us know when the event's will be held sphinx? sorry if it's obvious, i had to get someone to post me a link to the divisions post last night.

Very nice job Sphinx!

And I´m in Div 1 Silver!!! Never thought!
I´m new here, I need to look after that, what it means exactly.
Is it important for the WRS or there will be special races for the divisions?

Hmm... Bronze Div. 5... I probably shouldn't have settled for my second lap. xD

I'm quite excited about this GTP Division thing, congrats to everyone whatever position they qualified and thanks to Sphinx for organizing this event.

A question to Sphinx, I know this may sound absurd since the divisions barely got started but do you think that maybe there be a special annual event where there will be a knock out tournament of people regardless of their divisions similar to the English FA Cup in Football/Soccer? For example, each person is assigned a number from 1-364 (at the moment) and is drawn into some random raffle for a race of 12 people. Say the top 4 finishers of that race qualify to the next round while the last 8 is eliminated. This carries on to the final race where the winner will be crowned the annual winner. I think it gives a chance for people to meet a wider audience within the GTP community as well as giving out some potential "giant-killing" results. Or maybe i'm thinking way too ahead!

The events are going to be organised by several people, not just Sphinx I think. Of course there are likely going to be events that count and don't count towards the divisions.
Well at least I think it would be a lot easier if more than 1 person organised each division anyway, but it's not up to me.

Depending where this GTP event data entry project goes, I think events organised by almost anyone could easily be integrated with the divisions, but thats a fair bit in the future yet.

Yes, it is a bit early, but it's a good idea and something worth thinking about. Once we have completed our first event then perhaps we could organise something along theses lines. 👍

I like that idea (I'm also a big footy fan), it would put a nice spin on things.

oh i know sphinx won't be doing it all solo but that wasn't quite what i was asking. last night when i heard the divisions had been posted i couldn't find where so someone had to post me a link. this is the only forum i've ever used so i struggle to navigate properly so i just wanted to know how will we know when the event's will be held. don't want to miss out through being a bit thick.:dunce:

It's not allowed.

(discussing the laptimes).

Well sphinx,
you've had so many compliments, i guess you can take a bit of nagging from someone that wants to discuss the laptimes ;p

Before the times were entered it made some sense we could not discuss the laptimes (not to me though). but now that the entry for the trial1 has ended i'm really wondering what that mystery is all about. (edit: after posting the only good reason i could find for not discussing was to prevent someone from making up a faster time then was actually driven with sectortimes that would be reasonable for the time)

The wrs qualifyer plainly states the timedifference between the drivers, and i'm probably blind since i don't see the big letters "do not discuss gtp_qualifyer" anymore on a logical place...(i did see them when the this TT was active).

I'm just looking for a reasonable philosophy that's keeping me from discussing something i'm really interested in discussing.
