I've moved your post in here. We're working out some final details on how we'll manage the qualifier going forward, we should have an answer very soon.
Thanks, I missed this thread somehow...
Good to see you finally coming over to the "dark side" :sly: Elias. 👍 Look forward to having you aboard.
Yeah, well people kept saying I should join this so...

I'm thinking about joining, but I have one question. Do you have to regularly compete in the TT's, or would it be ok if I just did the ones that interest me/have time for?

I'll keep an eye out for when registration re-opens:)

I told you along time ago you should join, you're clearly D1 material all day long. 👍 I think you'll really enjoy the atmosphere here, it really is a great brotherhood we have here. :gtpflag:

is the registry closed ?

Yes, the last game update caused a real problem with the revised handling characteristics. The admits are working away to try and come up with a revision to the qualifiers that doesn't invalidate all the times and handicaps gained by members prior to the update. A huge task that must be causing them a real headache.

They'll figure it out though and you should watch the GTP Registry Qualifier Thread for an update (the thread title currently says it's closed and will change when it re-opens)

Indeed. In the meantime....I've been running in my own shadow Time Trial competitions for the last few weeks. Lot's of fun and I can't wait to get started on the Mazda/Mazda tonight (life interferes, I've been out of town all week).

ps...I do have a very good fix on what my division/handicap probably ought to be, on the off chance this information might be of some help calibrating the qualifiers.

Hey admins, how about just getting new people to run the current combo?
A lot of people don't spend enough time on the qualifier anyway and end up in the wrong division.
In my opinion anonymity is best. If I didn't know what was possible with regards to this week's TT, I would have submitted my time and been done with it pretty quickly. Ideally, the Classes are determined by average lap time over ten laps and that is it. That isn't possible though.

Also, track familiarity makes a whale of a difference. I had no idea how to run fast around Brands and Willow for the original qualifier. I'd probably be a second faster on both today, given the same car and settings simply because I know how to get around them now.

We're working on a solution to the current problem.

It's taking a bit longer than expected to work everything out, but remember that we have a complex registration and verification system that may require adjustments to account for any changes to the current system.

We're in what I would call the final stages of making the changes, but I would be remiss to commit to any timelines when a lot of the work needs to be completed by other folks.

There's a problem with the revised handling characteristics? I haven't noticed. Maybe that's why I am so far behind the curve!

People were something like 5 seconds slower on the Nurburgring 24 hour TT that we were running when the update was released. That's more like 1 second on a normal combo, rather than one with a lap of over 8 minutes.

We changed the car and specs for that combo, to make laps run with 1.08 irrelevant.

Baseline car setups have been changed substantially, which is likely the main impact. But in testing, we recognized that the old qualifier times would not be able to be achieved.

Also, update for those anxiously waiting for the registry to reopen. We've worked out a new process and we are testing it. Initial testing did not go as planned, but we think we've fixed the problem. Once we're able to validate that the process works as expected, we'll make the new process public, and the registry will be open for business once again.

OK - Our new registration process has been tested and is working as intended. I've made the thread with registration instructions public.

You may register using the process noted above and can begin participating right away.

@alexamenos kindly tested the new process for us, and is showing up as provisional on the current week's leaderboard.

@EDK

FYI I tried submitting a lap for week 26 and Fetchy says,

"The submitted time for week "26" has been REJECTED you need to be in the registry to compete in WRS."
